Look up the definition of gimmick and get back to me.The game is literally titled Rift Apart. It’s the central gameplay feature.
Like proclaiming guns are a gimmick in a COD game, lol.
Performance mode looking like a waste of time with Performance RT around in this game lol.
There is even a gun that uses rift mechanics.....Insomniac posted it on Twitter yesterday. Some felt it was kind of a spoiler so....The game is literally titled Rift Apart. It’s the central gameplay feature.

Rendering 2 separate viewports simultaneously like the Medium but this time you can just walk across both. Ok this is some crazy shit.

According to NXGamer Performance RT mode is 1440p dynamic (but he didn't notice drops in resolution). Also the game uses TAA upscaling-antialiasing, which is already better than AMD FSR, lol. What are the difference between these modes ? 1080P vs 1440P ?

rendering two different viewports at native resolution that you can walk through.. ok that's crazy
this is a joke dont get mad
Lol, why would i get mad, portal was crazy too. I'm just referring to the crazy amount of data and detail present in both worlds as they chuck data in and out of memory.![]()

AMD's spatial FSR might be compatible with temporal upscalers too.According to NXGamer Performance RT mode is 1440p dynamic (but he didn't notice drops in resolution). Also the game uses TAA upscaling-antialiasing, which is already better than AMD FSR, lol.
It's the same area.![]()

Yeah Insomniac's gone leaps forward with their tech and it's super impressive.I think you meant this as a joke, but just for anyone who might accidentally think this is the same thing Ratchet is doing... all Portal does is shift you from one area of the existing loaded in map to another, whereas Ratchet is loading in an entirely new environment instantaneously from scratch, with your player character as the only constant. As you’d imagine, this requires a colossal amount of memory and power to accomplish. Nothing has ever done this before, including Portal or Titanfall 2 (which just changes textures on the existing loaded in map).
Yep. Thor 2 Dark World came out around the time Portal 2 had come out and everyone likened the Thor's ending boss fight to Portal.Yeah Insomniac's gone leaps forward with their tech and it's super impressive.
I believe Titanfall 2 was the same map loaded twice within the game space and they swap you to an 'identical' position on the other chunk. Not just swapping textures instantly.
What’s that weird jerking when he walks in? Just lower level floor?Rendering 2 separate viewports simultaneously like the Medium but this time you can just walk across both. Ok this is some crazy shit.

I guess it’s a newer version of portal. Valve better get off their duff. There is even a gun that uses rift mechanics.....Insomniac posted it on Twitter yesterday. Some felt it was kind of a spoiler so....
They are going out of their way to not make it gimmicky. One rift is basically a fast travel for the same area.
I take your viewports and move them too 2006![]()

It's really depressing to see what we wont see this kind of level switching in GoW even though the Norse mythology 9 realms setting is literally identical and worst of all, the tech is there. It's shocking but we are literally at a point where we have the tech in consoles that can match the ways movies edit together different setpieces.
That is the same room, no?![]()

Can't say i know for sure but if i were to guess, i would say they're teleporting you into the other viewport once you get close enough but it is not entire seamless or it could also be physics related as well with the lower floor. What’s that weird jerking when he walks in? Just lower level floor?
That should be more close to what he wanted to joke.I'm surprised they didnt post The Medium....
Yes, he steps down and then back up on the grate, then back down again. What’s that weird jerking when he walks in? Just lower level floor?
that is what being a part of first studio does. with unlimited funding, you can take advantage of your imagination, without a budget constraint.Rendering 2 separate viewports simultaneously like the Medium but this time you can just walk across both. Ok this is some crazy shit.

You might be right for other comments that he usually posts around the forum, some of them are clearly to bite and pick a fight, or even just trolling,
but dude! this particular one?... getting triggered by it says a lot about you too lol
When is the PS4 release date?
I take your viewports and move them too 2006
I know it's executed differently and it's just a whole loaded level. But still. Prey was nice
Looks great, but with everything looking good it sure makes the bad stick out like a sore thumb.
I hope this is sarcasm. First party doesn’t have an unlimited budget. Less constraints having to only target one platform.that is what being a part of first studio does. with unlimited funding, you can take advantage of your imagination, without a budget constraint.
Yes.What’s that weird jerking when he walks in? Just lower level floor?
This game is really encouraging for the RT future on ps5.
