I heard people stuttering with 5000 series gpu when they installed the texture pack...like it ask for 16g but it actually require like 20...

I'm still gonna try but i'm not optimistic.

every single UE5 game that uses RT GI has severe artifacting. blotches of shadows flickering around, extremely slow reaction to changing environments (one of the reasons The Finals uses a proprietary GI solution instead of Lumen btw. Lumen was literally too bad for them to use it), and literal constant shimmer and boiling on nearly all surfaces that are even remotely in shadow.

I don't need a long rebuttal. I've played them both on my high end rig. To say the lighting on low in Indy looks better than Avowed with Hardware Lumen is a ridiculous statement. Anyone that has played both will side with me.

Stuff like this is why I could never be a PC gamer

Hope they fix it.

Pro version looks poor but at least it's a consistent experience without any technical issues, it just could look a lot sharper than it does

I don't think people understand that PC being an open platform means that expectations are much more varied.
I have a 16gig VRAM card - I have no expectation that 8 or 12 gig cards will run something well. People who own them do.
I have shit RT and don't expect to be able to run anything but console level RT well. People with Nvidia cards expect to be able to run high RT.
What I do find surprising is that PS5 Pro players don't expect to have PSSR supported and will accept a native 1080p image being their output quality.

well then I wish the PC review was more comprehensive

alex says high textures look horrible and hd texture pack fixes most of it. all current gen consoles have around 12.5 gb usable memory budget (ps5 pro maybe a bit more). if they can utilize hd texture pack without an issue, you should as well. how can it require 20 gb vram when it runs with 12.5 gb vram budget on a sx and ps5?

either game is broken on a different level or consoles do not use the hd texture pack either. and I don't know if that's the case or not

Nah, wukong is much better example of large areas with ue5, it looks much better than avowed.

I don't think avowed look better than stalker 2 tbh, they are on the same tier.

Also, an engine that enable a small AA dev like fuckin bloopers to make a game that rival AAA graphic can't be called a cancer unless you have a huge hateboner or a shitty console\pc that can't run it properly.

The only irrational thing going on here is not understanding the "quirks and features" of PC Gaming and its true position in the game development priority; you buy a higher end GPU/CPU not to "transform" your gaming experience but to brute force performance. 🤷🏼‍♂️ this always has been the case.


DF has made a disservice to the gaming discourse.

Videos like this are way more useful to the PC crowd.

I don't think anybody know if the console version has the texture pack but i'm starting to think that it doesn't.

As someone with an RTX 5080, it stutters bad when you get to jungle, and just keeps stuttering when turning the camera from that point.

there is no way the console have this pack the easiest way to tell is in the intro the when old admiral looking dude is talking to you, does his coat look like absolute dog shit? If yes, then no pack.

Haven't played Wukong yet. I didn't realize the areas were so big bordering on open world. I put Stalker 2 lower because of the performance issues when I played it. Got really messy down the stretch towards the end of the game even when utilizing frame gen.

Wukong has very large areas and for the last area they straigh up give you dragon ball goku super fast cloud to move between islands.

I can understand detracting points for performance, i was just was talking about how they look.

Same story with Dragons Dogma 2 which was great and it's performance problems were way overblown and mtx did not matter at all... and I played that game locked at barely 30fps on ps5 base. It was so good.
I can still order wilds to get it tomorrow... but I am not sure if I will like it. I never played monster hunter. Seems grindy

Yep, but then it looks like half the game hasn't even loaded in. including main characters Armor.... it reminds me of MH World on PC where for the first 6 months textures where literally stuck on "low" no matter what you selected until Capcom patched it.

Eh, the game plays just fine, it's not a standout looker, but the IQ actually isn't terrible, just a tad soft

It's got really great art design and dynamic battles. Could it be better? Yeah, but I wouldn't say the overall game experience is poor

To be fair, PC ports have been a lot better over the last year or so. This game is kind of an outlier these days, and not the norm like it was at one point.

Plus the Pro version is the best console version, but its image quality isnt great, and the other console versions are terrible so its not like this is just a PC thing with this game. A tiny percentage of console players own the Pro.

The console versions aren't terrible, it's still perfectly playable on XSX and PS5

Same here. I tried for 2 years and just gave up. The constant anxiety of tweaking settings, modifying INIs, overclocking, benchmarking, replacing dlls, updating drivers made me play less and worry more if I'm getting the best out of my system. I'm tinkering with stuff all day at work already. I just don't have the bandwidth for it when I get to the living room.

This is not to diss PC gaming. I'm sure most get a kick out of those things I mentioned. I just realized I'm not cut out for it. Went back to being a mid-tier console simpleton and never been happier. Here in PC threads just to learn what I'm missing and what the bleeding edge looks like.

And the benchmark was playable on my 3070 powered PC at 60fps with framegen (40-60fps without), and that was at native 1440p with image quality way better than even the Pro.

DF just have higher standards with PC versions.

You used frame gen to get there which tons of people have complained about.

Not really an applicable scenario, not to mention all the other PC related issues

I just don't understand how they developed the game if it behaves like that on 5080. What did they even code on? Do they all go into some "known issues" bucket that they slip past QA? So baffling...

Yeah, I can see why there would be issues with these choices. I realized after my 2060 that it was worth a bit more for the 3 series and go for the 3070. The same thing happened with the 4 series and now have a 4080.

This is if you want to play games generally at ultra graphics but with 1080p resolution and 60fps.

You can certainly go higher, but it's clear that the performance requirements are becoming more demanding with each gpu cycle.

FG might change that but it's still needing refinement.

This game is (this engine, I should say) is downright horrible though.

This is awful. I don't PC game, but if I was shelling out the exorbitant cost of modern GPUs and getting shit like this, I'd be fuming.
