So I bought this after DF was gushing over it's Pro patch and I'm not seeing what the big deal is. It looks very clean now but I'm not impressed with the games lighting or asset quality ...

From a technical perspective the game is nothing special. Games like Jedi Survivor, AW2, SH2, Rebirth, Dragons Dogma 2, Avatar, Star Wars Outlaws, and Black Myth are what really need Pro support.

How far have you got? Wait till you start unlocking some new outfits.

The ASSet quality will be off the scale.

Exactly. As John says in the video Shift Up is showing "how it should be done". Shift Up didn't get some magical PS5 Pro with fairy dust enhanced PSSR. So I think it is clear that the technology is not to blame. If we are going to point towards poorly implemented games on Pro then fingers needs to be directly squared on the devs.

Personally seeing stuff like this makes me even more excited to see what is coming for the Pro the next couple of years.
I believe they had help from Sony’s “XDEV” team though. But you’re right, the hardware is not the issue.

Anyone play the Nier DLC? Is it just collecting cans for the stuff in Emil's store for the $10 ?
Yes. Thers also some easter eggs while wearing the Nier outfits. For exaple while wearing the Nier outfits the OST change to the Nier OST, diferent music play in diferent locations and boss fights. Eve kicks the camera if you try to peek under her skirt. The 2B and A2 main outfits have a destructed version if you die and resurrect on the spot.

Thanks! As much as I like both games. I don't think this is DLC I need. Wish it had some side missions of some sort.

Wanted to play this game when it came out but waited the Pro. Brought it and now will enjoy it on my Pro.

To those who are put off to SB because of these unlaid horn dogs screaming "boobies!!", it's an incredible game. GOTY imo. The striking lead character and customizations are the icing on the cake.
My friend, we aren't woke here. Nobody is afraid of big booba beautiful women

My biggest issue is that I already got the Platinum months ago on this game and I have many other games to play. For the people new to SB, have fun!

This is how enhanced/mid gen console upgrades should be: efficient usage of the extra hardware, and not implementing tech that it can’t handle. Can the current gen consoles do ray tracing? Yes, even well sometimes, and the PS5 Pro can naturally do it better. But, that doesn’t mean that it can crank such out at a crazily high level without buckling; It’s still using Zen 2 architecture. This port on the other hand, is a good showcase for what the hardware can really do when leveraged… Smartly. Play to its strengths, and leave the more advanced/expensive RT for next gen systems.

I think that’s why the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, respectively, did so well, performance wise. Devs used the extra power to push higher resolutions, sharper visuals, and higher frames, without going super crazy and slamming them with something incredibly expensive and intensive.

It does have problems though, foliage in this footage looks like SH2 lol. Not too sure how far through they went when testing, but I immediately noticed it when I was doing a 2nd playthrough.

This is
after your sever Ravens spinal cord.

It's just not all the time as it was in SH2 before they removed PSSR on Performance (lel).

Seems like AO really fucks up PSSR right now.

So out of Mark Cerny's "Big three" features for the PS5 Pro, two of them don't work together? Having Ray tracing on makes the PSSR cause glitches?

SB doesnt have RT and still exhibites same bugs around grass shadows, seems to me like an Ambient Occlusion issue.
Although Spider-man 2 has RTAO and PSSR and it seems to work fine there no? Not that much tall grass maybe?

Grass is often noisy so the first thing that begins to fail temporally especially with higher shadow settings is that. I think this is why TLOU spent some of the increased GPU budget actually increasing grass resolution and lowered shadow setting so that the upscaler can give a cleaner result overall. Stellar blade still looks amazing on Pro regardless.
