A group of game journalists have been doing this since PS3 days but they used to be way more subtle. They just don't care anymore.
Reviews don't matter to us, a small vocal group who are passionate about gaming and care about these things. But most of the casual people are going to eat these reviews up and buy the game. It's a sad reality.
Also, same routine happened with DA: Inquisition. That game got a ton of Game of the Year awards but the fact remains --- it's a terrible RPG.

This is just a reminder, BIG reminder, that every review that you read from an outlet is just a "professional opinion." No one is particularly right or wrong in how they feel about their experience. That's why there are so many different reviewers, outlets, etc. If you care that much about reviews, you can find a person or outlet that has opinions that seem to align with yours. Or at least as best as possible.
As some one that enjoy's SkillUp's reviews quite a bit, I can't shake off him saying "Every interaction sounds like HR is in the room", lmao.

Its because most of these AAA studios aren't run or managed by actual creatives at the top anymore. They're legit run by people who adhere to spreadsheets and graphs. They don't have the slightest artistic feel for what they see. Any CEO whose a genuine creator at heart and with a shred of decency would've seen this and told the team to get back to the drawing board.

They may feel as good or bad as they like, but there are objective measurements to analyze gameplay, graphics, and the narrative aspects of the game. All of them look abysmal.

True, but we've seen plenty of examples where a lot of outlets just skirt around issues like that. I think it just goes back into watching videos and playing it yourself to see how you feel about it in most cases.
