Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero |OT| And This... Is To Go... Even Further Beyond!

if people want to experience the main narrative, there's this game called DBZ: Kakarot.
The previous Budokai Tenkaichi games were incredible story wise, I tried playing Kakarot but the gameplay never clicked for me.

If you want both great gameplay and a complete story then BT2 is still king.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Why did they skimp so much on the story mode? Not only is the narrator missing for 90% of the story, plenty of iconic moments are not even shown.

Freeze throwing a destructo disc and hitting himself
Goku becoming super sayjin when fighting freeza
Gohan ss2 transition

I like the story mode but its really kinda lame. So many moments glossed over.

Because there are already countless retelling of the stories, and they are also covering DB Super across 6 characters here.

Yeah and thats why they cant show a simple transformation?

Thats why the narrator only does one voicelines in an entire chapter?

Thats good enough reason to skip important events?

Nah its lazy plain and simple

Im not saying the game isnt dope because it is but I feel like a but more effort into the story mode as a celebration of DBZ would have been fantastic

I would say yes, that's good enough reason to skip them. If you want to say a game with over 200 fighting characters is lazy plain and simple just because they skimmed through 422 episodes of story, then its on you.

Please can someone answer me.

Which version of the game includes the anime music packs - Deluxe or Ultimate? Or neither? Since there's no Kenji Yamamoto soundtrack, I want the Japanese cartoon soundtrack and they're pricey standalone.

Neither! You have to buy it. ($15 each pack)

The what-ifs make up for the smaller details lost in translation.

In fact, even without the what-is, theres way more than 2x the amount of episodes in this game than there was in BT3, which skipped MANY sections of the anime (for example: the android saga starts with goku vs 19 but then skips all the way to cell absorbing 18)

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Had some friends visiting today and I figured I could buy the game to treat them to some good ol' Tenkaichi fun.

Game's pretty cool and fun, and way more spectacular than the PS2 game too. That damn Vegeta monke tho, holy shit, maybe it was because we were drinking but the story mode's difficulty seemed to ramp up quite fast.

So I've never been into Dragon Ball, but my son (12) has gotten way into it over the last couple of years. He watched all of Super, lots of DBZ, I bought him several of thr Manga books, and he played a buhjillion hours between Xenoverse 2 and FightersZ. He even figured out how to install a PS2 emulator on his PC specifically so he could play BT3.

He's had hype building for two months in anticipation of Sparking Zeo. He's been staying up late and playing all weekend and talking on the headset with his friends. As an old guy who never gets excited about anything anymore, it's nice to see he's got the fire.

Also, man this is a nice looking game. Very slick.

Finally beat all 8 campaigns plus their respective sparking episodes. That took…about 32-ish hours

And strangely enough the one that gave me the most trouble was unlocking the alt path for piccolo by beating freeza’s third form in less than a minute

This game is definitely a love letter to dragon ball fans, granted xenoverse 2 is also a fantastic game, especially for those of us who like making OC’s

This game is not easy. I'm getting backshots all the damn time in story mode. Maybe I'm getting old, time to git gud. The presentation is damn slick though, my only complaint is I wish the explosions were modelled differently. It looks like a ball of smoke, Fighterz did it perfectly in my opinion. My son seems to love this game, in particular the custom battles.

Just finished Goku arc and damn, this is one of the worst story modes i ever played in a DBZ game, playing just one character for hours at a time is too boring.

Some "sparking stories" are great, but, too boring playing Goku for hours and hours and than starts an unsskipable low quality cutscene, some slide show and 2 min of batle and repeat.

At the moment this game is a solid 8/10 If the story mode was better would be a 10/10 like Kakarot

I am straight up awful at this game...did training and then got smoked first story fight. Gonna put some more time into it tomorrow but these aren't the games I want to concentrate super hard while I play. It just felt... frustrating?

When it clicks it fuckin rocks, but there's still frustrating af episodes especially if you go for the 100% run.

PSA
Training doesnt tell you everything for some fucking reason,
IF YOURE GETTING COMBO'D FROM BEHIND, the only surefire method I've found to counter is the forward+square parry.

Also Sonic Sway, the move where you bob and weave and you get a guaranteed hit, is a perfect r1+circle parry

Crazy idea: switch characters

A fighting game isn't something you want to concentrate on? Doesn't make much sense to me. You kind of have to concentrate hard to anticipate opponents moves, counter etc.

The reason it would be frustrating is because you're most likely jumping straight in without learning the many mechanics.

This game has a steep learning curve but once you start remembering combos and learning time windows, it becomes very rewarding.

I spent time in training for a good while but then make sure to read battle tips as that contains extra info like how to stop getting attacked from behind. Play Battles vs CPU on Normal, progress to Strong... then go to Story mode.

That's what I'd suggest anyway, that gave me a good base on mechanics. I haven't been stuck on any story mode fights yet.

i´ll be doing the same thing
At the end I end up helping some friends online getting the trophies for special finishers and dialogs with them using Goku SS and I Freezer 100% on destroyed namek. (20 matches each...1,5 minutes every match)

Online with Satan they will only play a couple of matches and leave if you won't compete...

3 millions "units" sold within the first 24 hours. It's safe to say the return of these series it's a great success.

And once again the proof that when you care for your fanbase, the fanbase takes care of you.
If only other franchises decided to appease to the fans after so long like Need For Speed finally giving us a proper underground or most wanted sequel... But I guess they like to lose potential sales. I'm impressed it took Bandai so long to give us a sequel to the Tenkaichi series but they nailed it in every aspect for men excluding story mode being lackluster in presentation compared to Tenkaichi 2 and 3.

This game could as well sell 5m+ by the end of month.

I understand the criticism behind the lacklusting story mode in comparison to BT3 or even BT2, but I think people tend to forget that the story mode in those two games were built in the shoulders of the first Budokai Tenkaichi.

I'm certain if Sparking Zero sequel releases in the future, its story mode will be a lot better and more complex comparing to Sparking Zero, because 85% of the game has already a base to be built upon.

Apperantly there's a bug in console platforms that wipes out your whole save, be it 10 or 100+ hours.

Brace yourselves lads, back it up to cloud just in case.

I get the sense that they wanted to show how they made the story using the tools available to the players.

I'd much rather have a full fledged story mode, since it's been so long. But young me is probably glad it's irrelevant here. I've played through the DB story far too many times with the game basically being annual back in the day. But the gameplay and graphics here you want to experience it all again. In the end I'm not here for the story though, I just want to battle it out locally with random characters.

Yes, the what if what I can’t wait to do. I’m trying to finish the normal story first, then go back to do all the what if stuff

I think Super is trash, the artstyle is horrible and the new characters are lame, except some ones like Jiren.
I really liked Super - the artstyle is a mixed bag (depends on who of the crew animated which episode) and some of the new characters are pretty decent, like Hit. Tournament of Power Frieza is at his best in that arc.

And I don't care what people say, if you had told me twenty years ago that Goku and Frieza will team up with #17 as backup while a kickass song is playing, I would've called them insane. But it happened and it's my favorite Dragon Ball moment ever.
