Enslaved - GT Preview

Interest piqued.

I hadnt even heard of this game before now. Didnt play Heavenly Sword... i should probably rent it... though i havent rented a game in years.

Have had it pre-ordered for a while for two reasons:

a) I was quite fond of HS!
b) GAF was shitting on this from the off! Yeah baby... I'm counter culture.

It's lookin' good, but HS has given me reservations on buying it day one.

But damn it's looking gooooood.

I'm always surpriesed people think this game looks bad graphily. It's one of the best looking Unreal games if you ask me. I actually liked HS a lot so Im intersted.

Probably because their last creative, new, hyped IP was a bad game.
No, it wasn't a bad game. It was a short good game. Shown by healthy review scores.

Shame they ditched the Heavenly Sword engine - the environments in this look much worse (HS was a looker) but the gameply looks alright, apart from the flashing hand holds for traversal - do we really need that?

Looks ok but it's probably going to be just as short as Heavenly Sword so no buy for me.
Yes, all their criticisms of Heavenly Sword were that it was too short - so being developers who were affected by that, they're going to ignore that advice completely. >_< They've already said it's longer and they're not stupid.

Why don't you buy it - very good investment, and I bet you can find it cheap now.

Edit: Sorry about those three - I waited for the third, but no-one commented in 5 minutes :P

The game looks very good. I'm sure the game will have great character design and an engaging story, just as Heavenly Sword did. I know some people disliked Heavenly Sword for being somewhat on the short side, but as deepbrown said the developers have likely taken that criticism to heart when preparing this game.

I don't know if I'll be able to pick it up right away, but I'll keep an eye on this one. I hope they'll release a demo soon.

I played the demo at Gamescom and it was pretty cool. However the platforming section on the aircraft was very linear so there was one way and only one way to get through the section. I'm still really interested in the game and will probably pick it up when it comes out.

The mo-cap/facial animation stuff is phenomenal, they are still the best in the world at that stuff, incredibly impressive.

I think this game has a lot of potential. the characters designs blow, but the concept of the game looks really interesting. Apparently it has references to Xi You Ji? Awesome if so.

You can nearly lip read those facial animations. This game looks fantastic. I hope it plays just as well or better.

I support epic single player adventure games like this.

I started to enjoy Heavenly Sword more once I got the hang of passively blocking each type of attack. After that it clicked for me and I enjoyed the crap out of the game.

If the rumors are true, I'm looking forward to seeing what these guys can do with DMC.

they didn't "ditched" it because Sony own it.

and their latest two games were bad , I still don't see anything good gameplay wise about this.

Are you sure Sony own the engine itself, and not just the IP?

Because you can see a lot of the Heavenly Sword tech in Brink.

Edit: Read that - still don't believe it...though I can see that Sony owning that engine would have forced some of Ninja Theory's best technical talent to leave - they would want to show themselves off, and not use shitty UE3 - hence moving to the Brink team. Plausible

Not getting hyped for this until i get confirmation that it isn't a inexcusably short game like their previous title.

I kinda have to agree with most people here. The graphics and facial animation look stunning, but... I'm not a big fan of the visual style.

Don't get me wrong, though. I prefer colourful, unique looking games over the brown and grey shooter pap we get force fed by the industry today... But I find the visual design to be not to my liking.

I also don't see this game doing well, sales wise.

Gameplay looks tight though.

If the puzzles aren't super obtrusive and if the combat mechanics are tight, this might be a sleeper hit. Hopefully there aren't any hat throwing puzzle sections.

My hype for Devil May Cry 5 depends on how they deliver with Enslaved. I'm hoping for a knockout performance, and judging by the push this is getting from Namco, I am pretty optimistic.

Alex Garland adapted the story too :D

Its covered in win.

The story and production values were never the problem, they made some gameplay decisions last time that limited the gameplay variety and scope.

lol @ the over exaggerated hate for heavenly sword. Still plays and looks better than alot of trash out there.
