Holy crap, I just started the Yuffie DLC in Remake and I had no idea Fort Condor was in this expansion before Rebirth - and watching Yuffie's gameplay feels like this DLC was indeed made while Rebirth was being developed, a sort of stepping stone between Remake and Rebirth.

Are Cait Sith and Red XIII in Rebirth also 'advanced' in gameplay, like Yuffie is? It feels like Cloud, Tifa and Barret are Street Fighter 2 characters, while Yuffie is from Street Fighter 5 or something. Her gameplay is a LOT more expansive compared to Cloud's.

All the characters get major overhauls for the 2nd game. Aerial combat is a thing, dodge now works as an actual dodge and is much faster, snappy and just overall makes sense. You can now also parry by timing you guard.

Yuffie is still REALLY fun to play as in Rebirth and gets even more stuff, but everyone else also gets a BIG upgrade from Remake.

That's amazing - can't wait for Friday!

You're in for a treat! :D There are way too many improvements to the combat to mention, really.

And just one thing to keep in mind, normal attacks may seem random at first, but they're not:

If you dodge with Cloud and then attack, he'll start using sonic booms to hit enemies from afar.

If you start attacking and you're aimed at an enemy, even if they are far away, you can hold square to rush in a gap closer to the enemy, even if they are in the air. From there you can combo normally.

There's a lot of stuff like that depending on how you're using your buttons and skills, so try to figure it out and have fun :) Overall there's a lot more depth to the combat this time around.

Wait - the game doesn't tell you about their abilities and combo patterns?

If I remember correctly, they'll tell you about most of it.

But there are some of the more nitty gritty stuff that I think they leave for you to discover. I tend to see a lot of streamers and people online that don't use certain button combinations that would help them in certain situations (like the gap closer, it's amazing how many people don't use it) and that gets me thinking that either they didn't read the tutorials or the game didn't properly hammer in some of these dynamics.

But again, like I said, it's a game with a lot more depth and mechanics to explore, and you should try to play with all of them and go at it with this mindset to explore stuff and combo opportunities, kind of like a fighting game or a DMC game. At the start it may seem like a lot, but everything will make sense eventually and the game feels extremely good to play.

The game has VR tutorial battles for each individual character in which it explains their basic movement. You can also use it to experiment with later on as they unlock more.

It has a synergy one too for moves that require a second teammate.

by the by if you play FF7 Rebirth in January and really like it you can still vote for it in the second round of Neogaf's game of the year thread, since you can keep changing your vote until Jan 30

I should've waited as my 4090 would've loved to eat this game up, but I gotta say that the platinum for this game took 1 year of my life away soooo...good on the pc version but the game can fuck right off until the 3rd installment 😅

Think it was 186 hours for the plat. I wish those gauntlet challenges had checkpoints or something but outside of those it was an amazing game.
It's exactly the kind of thing I'm craving right now, and having it included in this game is going to make me so incredibly happy

It's been sitting in the top 20 of the global Steam charts for most of the past 6 weeks since it's announcement, and now it's top 1 (sans the F2P titles and Steam Deck).

Pre-orders for this game are far exceeding the likes of FFXVI and God of War ports from last year, and it's also out-performing games like Metaphor, Persona 3 and Infinite Wealth in relative week-to-week positions in the charts prior to it's release.

If this is a decent PC port and continues with good word of mouth, it'll probably do pretty well sales wise on the PC. Weird how they didn't extend the Steam special offer of 30% for another couple of weeks to bring it in line with the EGS offer.

Still the Switch 2 ports to come for these games which can do quite well.

When the final game is announced (I am going with by the end of this year) I imagine a lot more folks will jump for both Remake and Rebirth in preparation for the finale.

Bought a Japanese game with a Hello World PS5 exploit hoping it would lead to a way to export my PS5 game save for this to import to the PC version, but nothing ever came of it. Oh well. :(

Buy the package with remake or do i not ...

Anyone knows if the pc Version of the remake got good surround Sound?

Would be the first games to play through when i get my System Running.

My PC is attached to a 5.1 yamaha home theater system. Remake sounds great but im in no position ti determine what is "good surround sound."

This is crazy. I'm going to go for the platinum as I got remakes but rebirths sounds like a different beast completely 😂

Congratulations on the platinum 🏆
Thanks! Yea it's worth it, but you'll absolutely hate chadley by the end lol I loved everything about the game tho even all the mini games, the piano stuff felt awesome when you finally did it, but those brutal challenges were no joke. But Goodluck on it tho it's a great ride for the most part! 👍

Thats enough for me.

Just tell others your expirience, in the Audio World there are alot of people gatekeeping. Most of them have so many bias that they themselves after 20 years are unable to properly evaluate a System/ Sound. So no matter what u hear, its always only subjective.

So thanks for your input. Appreciate it!

Fuck this shit, on YT there are already early access plays from streamers, I'm not bothered by spoilers, but by the fact that they are playing it already.

How is PC handling the Save data transfer for the Ramuh and Leviathan summons?
Steam says Remake save must be on the same PC that you're gonna play Rebirth, Intergrade on the same account.

I cannot imagine that the market for this kind of game on PC is very big...but happy to be proven wrong. Seems to me like anyone remotely interesting FF would have whatever the current PlayStation is.

I'm one, but for the more recent FFs, and I knew Rebirth was gonna hit PC, so there wasn't any incentive to buy a PS5 just for one game.
I was really interested in buying one, but really there are maybe 2-3 max exclusives in a generation that I'm really interested, for now the only one was Rebirth.

I'm sure there are others that do the same as I'm sure there are more than have both a PC and a PS5.

What's more interesting is that I'm watching hours of footage and not seeing much stuttering.

Well, that's a good thing for once, for me what was interesting from a bit that I saw, I was squinting to see the lighting upgrades they said, all that was apparent was the resolution, which is obvious and a bit more draw distance.

So they released FF7 Remake as an EGS exclusive for a year, where nobody wanted to buy it, but idiots like me did. Then they drop the PC version of the sequel on Steam the same day as EGS, but you need Remake on Steam for this. Square is such a shit company.

It is a bit of a shitty move, but nothing is surprising anymore.

Game is long in the tooth. I love it for the nostalgia. But some of the stuff takes to long like kid g is think.

Can't you just download a save file from the internet and drop it in your steam folder?

Seems like there's no Denuvo...

Anyone have a video they recommend that goes over the whole story of the first one? I kinda want to give this a shot but really dont feel like going through the first game and rather get the story on the side to prepare myself for this one

Rebirth has a recap in game that you can watch.

That's how gaming is these days. If you have a gaming focused YT channel, with some subscribers, chances are you can play the newest games before anyone (fans of the games or not) else.

It's completely fucked.
