Fuckin lol

get some go again
so is KOF not going to be streamed on sunday? if you go by the number of entries then it deserves to be have its finals on saturday but the past few years says it should be on sunday. although with reynald not going then maybe it should be on saturday.

The gap between the top 3 and the rest is pretty huge. Wow.

Can't wait to go this year. So much hype.

There has always been a gap between the two big games vs the rest. With the inclusion of smashers which for the most part was its own scene outside the FGC, its no wonder that they shit on some games in terms of entrants.

The biggest shocker is
1) Injustice losing to KI (lol really?)
2) BBCP bigger than expected ( I expected 300-400)

EVO Fighting Game Tiers

The New Hot Shit, same as the Old Hot Shit Tier
USF4 1979

Undead Tier
MVC3 1014, SSBM 970

NotbadObama Tier
BBCP 508

Got to fill the schedule with something Tier
KOF13 319, INJUSTICE 311

Oh right, they added it to EVO, that was kind of strange Tier
TTT2 257

I'd love KoF to be back for Sunday finals once more because they were so fucking hype, but with the numbers and KI being a new game with bigger numbers even if only slightly, I just can't see TTT2/Injustice/KOFXIII not being friday/saturday finals with the remaining 5 being sunday's event :/

I'm disappointed mostly as someone going to Evo since honestly last year it was easy to not even be aware that the friday/saturday finals were even happening since everything else was still in progress (even worse for MK which wasn't even on the main stage iirc)

I heard that KOF pools are starting on Saturday. I dunno if they'll squeeze the whole tourney on that day, but who knows

Wow, I'm surprised at Injustice being lower than Killer Instinct and The King of Fighters XIII.
I'm surprised at the number of entrants for Killer Instinct.

Also surprised at Ultra Street Fighter IV's numbers, but not really either.
This is however the biggest tournament ever.
The total pot is almost $30k with the bonus.

BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma numbers might've been better if Arc System Works and Aksys announced the bonus earlier.
I doubt it did any good in attracting more people, since most probably couldn't change their plans this late.

Confirmed for Sunday. I can't see KI getting Sunday over KOF.

I'd be pretty surprised if it isn't featured quite heavily on the final day. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for holding the finals on Thursday morning, in New York, at somebody's apartment building.

But I think it'll get a bit more prestige attached to it.

1. SSF4 AE v2012 - 1,601 players
2. UMvC3 - 1,297 players
3. Smash - 696 players
4. Injustice - 582 players
5. SFxT - 545 players
6. KoF13 - 433 players
7. P4A - 400 players
8. TTT2 - 355 players
9. MK9 - 233 players

These weren't the final numbers, just at the same point.

BBCP numbers are surprising. Quite solid.

Marvel refuses to die, still managed to get over 1000 players. SF's entrants are staggering.

The other numbers aren't really surprising.

Next year Marvel will finally drop below 1000 entrants but its cool it went 4 years at EVO with 1000+ entrants.

Marvel pools > other pools in terms of craziness. You get the intial, WTF teams, the inventive setups, the wacky synergies, combos and xfactor comebacks.

I still remember point Phoenix.

Total prize pool for:
USF4: $19790 + $10000 pot bonus from Capcom = $29790
UMVC3: $10140
SSBM: $9700
BBCP: $5080 + $20000 pot bonus from ASW + $5000 pot bonus from Aksys = $30080 (and $5000 bonus to the winner)
KI: $3380 + $10000 pot bonus from Razer = $13380
KOF13: $3190
Injustice: $3110
TTT2: $2570 + $5000 pot bonus from Bandai Namco = $7570

So I did some math...

Street Fighter is up 378 (19%)
Marvel is down 283 (22%)
Melee is up 274 (28%)
KOF is down 144 (27%)
Injustice is down 269 (47%)
Tekken is down 98 (28%)
"Anime" is up 108 (21%)

There's a bit of a trade off with this tho. Usually, the few hours of stream before noon have the potential to be incrdibably boring because all these pot monsters are getting demolished by the pros. And even the dudes with the stuff you listed above almost never end up winning against the established opponent

Early sf matches on the other hands. Some crazy intense matches. From last year

-Haitani almost losing to that crazy sagat player (tiger shaan or whatever)
- wolf krone vs itabashi with one of the most intense matches I've ever seen
- dogura losing to floe, I think

Anime also has a strong lineup the following years while everything else has... well MKX.

I mean we got GGXRD, UNiB console, maybe that anime anime game that's big in arcades atm. Persona of course.

Which is why I think commentating is such a difficult job and I rarely if ever criticize someone's commentary. You need the right combination of knowledge, personality, voice, flow to make it work.

So basically, throw a play-by-play commentator on and you'd be alright in conjunction.

Hey! Those are video excerpts of me playing Poison! How did it leak onto Internet?

(Gosh, I am caught in a World Cup + Dark Souls 2 vortex, I'm barely following FGW threads anymore...)
