USF4 exceeded my prediction, which was 1800. But knowing how close it was to 2k, now I'm kind of salty that USF4 didn't actually reach 2k now. Can't they just force 21 random dudes to enter just so it can be the first EVO game ever to reach 2k entrants?

I'd rather see Bala do it all over again and cause an upset instead of seeing KI being streamed in its place. It'll most likely get a Sunday spot, probably really early, cause of that delicious pot bonus by razor!

Imagine if Justin wins KI, Marvel and SF? That man will probably retire.
Does EVO do "emergency" sign ups at the front door? Cause if they do, expect Marvel to get another 200-300 people while SF will get at least another 500.

That is actually about what I expected from Tekken. Lets face it, the community is already kind of "testy" and leaving it out initially wasn't exactly the way to win them over. Hopefully enough people that matter show up to put on a great show.
I know that feeling. Getting caught in a four way mixup between Project M/Smash, Mario Kart, World Cup and filling out job applications/paperwork for school's getting the better of me.
Then there was the wonderful trip to the ER I had late Saturday/early Sunday for a morbidly inflamed tonsil.

Dude, Infiltration won SF4 at EVO 2010(with a total pot of 25k) and 1st in SF4 and SFxT at SF25 in which he received 25k each with a car valued at 35k for SFxT. Justin winning those 3 games at EVO is nothing compared to what Infiltration did that year(which doesn't even include all the majors he won).

I think this is also the first year where the total prize pool actually exceeds what was given down during the years Toyota was sponsoring the event (where every game had 10k guaranteed). Over $100,000 in prize money? Yo eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-sports.
EDIT: In fighting game news I'm pretty sure nobody here cares about (or anyone outside of Japan... or even most players in Japan, for that matter), FK Digital is teasing a new version of Chaos Code, which new characters to suit.

I've always thought the current generation of Tekken does worse at Evo than it should due to DS3s being banned... which is what over half the community plays on.

Yep, KI is a good game, i'm glad for them.
It's cut off until the emergency registration on the day of the event, I believe. But I don't think 30 people will show up for that + I think EVO's emergency registration has a limit on how many people can do it. Melee jumped up from 696 to 709 last year because of it, though.
I could be completely wrong on all this though (EVO does change stuff sometimes).

Oh yeah, I remember that sponsorship from Toyota. Car buffs thought Toyota was going to start sponsoring all sorts of competitions after that, e-sports, extreme sports, etc. The stakes have been raised pretty high this year.
Hey, I care - whether it's an update or an expansion, this might be the version that finally gets ported to a home console with netplay.
Now watch, they're gonna keep this version in Japan indefinitely. It'll be like the 2009 Power Instinct game all over again.

Didn't Tekken have like 700 people signed up for it in 2010? Then they banned Duel Shocks & it was never the same it seems. That's like the only thing people play Tekken on, It's like banning the TE for SF & Marvel. Tekken probably wouldn't get 700 if Duel Shock was allowed but it would def increase #s a lot.
Only two players from the middle east? That's a shame.
Any reason as to why they banned it?

I don't think Latif will make top 8 this year
Wireless controllers are an issue, there is a chance of someone interfering with a match later if they are still paired to the console.
