God, I can't wait for this! ^_^ Just wish I wasn't spoiled on one of those major emotional twists by one of the early trailers though... Would have been incredible if I could have gone into the movie not knowing that and actually having been surprised by it.
I'm very bitter about it.

Hopefully this next movie eases my pain.

You'll have to excuse us. We're just very bitter. :p

My feelings exactly.
Indeed.

You definitely should. Orchestral soundtrack is amazing too!

One of the most memorable soundtracks in years.

I can actually hear it in my head right now, which I am rarely able to do with most film soundtracks.

Test Drive, man. Test Drive.

Really enjoyed the first, thought this was gonna be a cash in but after seeing the trailer today with Godzilla it definitely looks like it gonna be great. Another touch I like is that the characters seem to be older.

So like the first one? Good, another winner.

I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda, then was surprised by how improved and excellent the sequel was. I thought HTTYD was great, so if this one even equals it I'll be very content.

First one was so amazing. Never gave it a chance when it was in theaters and kicked myself in the ass for it because the 3D was said to be amazing so I bought the 3D bluray and it was fantastic on my TV. Can imagine how it would have been on big screen.

Not missing this one in theaters

If they bring it back in 20 years for a special 3D showing....make sure you make it

Exactly.. I wouldn't mind HTTYD2 winning since the first one was great, but Lego was such a unexpected delight and it would just be great if, for once, it wasn't a Pixar or Dreamworks movie taking that Oscar.
*pulls out exact words card* Already happened last year with Frozen.
*puts exact words card back in* Also happened recently three years back with Rango.

I liked the first one but I don't remember why. Anyway, I've enjoyed the last few years of Dreamworks movies -- this, the Kung Fu Pandas, even Megamind. They've definitely turned a corner with their animation.

Great to see this getting a good reception; we really do need more animated adventure films.

Which leaves their next two films, Home and Shrek 5, correct?

...and Me and My Shadow, which looks more like a Pixar film than most of Pixar's recent output:

Is the tv show Season 2 any good? I watched a decent amount of Season 1 and thought it was pretty good, not as good as the movie mind you, but good enough to keep tuning in.

Can we go praise HTTYD without shitting up Toy Story 3? Just seems like some of you guys are really salty.

Anyways, I fell in love with the first HTTYD when it came on blu-ray. After watching it the first time I regretted not watching it in theaters so much that I watched the movie once a day every time I came home from college. Story is amazingly paced, characters are likeable, music is phenomenal and the voice acting is stupendous. CG and character development are also major pluses. I cannot wait for the 2nd one.

Ever since I heard it was being released June 13, 2014 two years ago, I anxiously and patiently waited for what might be an excellent movie.

Hopefully the trailer can sway me to give it a watch in the theater. The first one didn't exactly leaving me wanting more. It was a nice movie but I felt like the story was going through the motions. It was nothing we haven't seen before.

Was expecting this to be a cash-in sequel but these first impressions are getting me hyped. I will try to catch this in theatres if reviews are good.

Excellent! Seems like Dean Deblois is very capable of directing without the help of Chris Sanders. Very excited for next month.

This will be the top grossing film of the summer.

My guess as well. People loved the first one so much, and this has years of anticipation that will help it. And since it looks like it delivers the goods, this will probably be a beast at the box office this summer.

Oooooh sweeeeet, hope it keeps up the good reviews, loved the first one so much and wasn't too confident with the trailers of this one.

Wow, I loved the first movie but when I heard it was getting a sequel I was wary. Lots of my favorite movies have been followed with mediocre ones, but this praise is absolutely glowing.
The best sequel Dreamworks has ever put out? Better than Kung Fu Panda 2 (which is an awesome movie)? Goddamn.

Good to hear.

The ads have been terrible and I was starting to get worried about it.

And I adored the first one. One of my favorite 3D cartoons ever made.

The only sequel I anticipate more is sequel to The Incredibles. It took BALLS to age the characters in this so significantly. You think the Incredibles will go the same route?

PS. I know folks lost their minds in the Home thread. If a rumor/spoiler about this one is true people are just gonna be flinging shit like at the monkey house. Dreamworks is turning into quite the little Social Justice League.

Great stuff. I saw the first 5 minutes before Captain America 2 and it looked and felt amazing. Can't wait.

First one is one of my top three animated features along with Incredibles and Iron Giant. Will probably see this multiple times in theatres. I hope the soundtrack is as brilliant as the first one.

Glad to see such love for this film. The first is one of the best animated films I've ever seen. Absolutely fucking love it. Score was superb too.

The first film was one of my favorite animated films of all time, and definitely my favorite of 2010. These reviews make me happy.

I vaguely remember that this one was in trouble, delayed or disappeared off their release schedule or something.

I really liked Toy Story 3 and to be fair, it was picking up the Best Animated for the whole series, it would be quite remarkable if the series was not recognised for that. It would probably work in the same way for Httyd too.

Anyway, looking forward to this. After Frozen, this seem like it will be quite a boyish action packed year for animated features, along with Big Hero 6.
