Never seen the first one, maybe I'll give it a watch.

When it first came out in theaters, my son begged so much to see it. He was prob 3 at the time. However, I had no desire to see it what so ever.

Like most parents, I took him anyway. He ended up falling asleep and I ended up watching an amazing film.

It was good, but c'mon son. Ratatouille got it beat.

Love Giacchino and it was a super good score but nothing really stood out to me as too memorable or thematic.

edit: giving Ratatouille another listen and yeah... I definitely like Dragon's themes more, but this is really hard to argue against. You've got me here.

;) Ratoutouille is the definition of thematic.

Plus, every other track is magnificent as well.

The first HTTYD got robbed by that mediocre nostalgia-fest called Toy Story 3 so if this movie is anywhere close to as good as the first there is no way it gets robbed again.

Can't wait.

Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks this. HTTYD is infinitely rewatchable and I can't bother to give Toy Story 3 another look. I mean, Toy Story 3 wasn't necessarily bad, but it wasn't very good beyond some nostalgic, onion cutting scenes. If we were playing Desert Island, HTTYD would be one of the movies I would like to be stuck with.

Also, Desert Island would be a good idea for an OT thread, unless there already was and/or is one. Hell, there were probably a bunch, and I just joined to late...

Hopefully Powell will deliver on the score.
The first is easily one of my favorite OST.

Test Drive is one of my favorite scores of all time and the same melody is echoed through other scores throughout the film. Brilliant stuff when composers create a central theme and build other scores around it or utilizing certain aspects of it.

I don't see an OT for this yet so I guess I'll post this here. I'm seeing an advance screening tonight! I can't wait, I'll be sure to let you all know what I think.

I was actually very surprised by how good the first one was. I heard it was great but was expecting overhype. Very wrong, on that guess.

Well? WELL?!

No one replied at all so I figured no one cared haha.

It was great! I'd say it's on par with the first one. It really expands the world in interesting ways and continues to develop the characters. It's a fair bit darker too (although not too dark for a family film.) It kind of calls to mind Empire Strikes Back for me.

Seeing how the first one was my personal favorite movie of the year, this is great news!
