Well most of what I know about Baltimore come from The Wire, so just based off of that I'd say don't go.

However I do have family who live nearby and I've visited a few times, it's a pretty plain state and there isn't really much of interest unless you head over to Washington D.C.

I'll probably visit a few of the nearby places while I'm there. My gf is from Canada, but she has absolutely no knowledge of the States. I wouldn't trust her to plan any of it.
