I think I've heard that FM8 will focus towards eSports so wheel support will have to be fixed.

They let people use controllers at their previous e-sports events and many top Forza players have gone on record in saying that it's impossible to be as fast on a wheel as you can be on a controller because of how the FFB is handled.

Basically it will require an overhaul, but they are well aware of this after getting roasted by the PC sim racing community following the release of FM7.

Sorry but unless I've missed some memo Microsoft has never said that Xbox One will continue to be the lead platform, just that Series X games will continue to have One versions.

Sorry if I'm wrong but I genuinely have never heard them say the former.

If it's just a case of them continuing to release on One, then imo the likelihood is they'll build the games for the Series X and then downgrade them for the older systems.

That looks like what they're doing for Halo Infinite, based on the footage seen so far. That doesn't look like a game that could run at 120 fps on the Series X.

Forza 7 was also developed for PC, which is what the Xbox One X was ported from. It used the PC high and ultra settings.
Forza 8 is also being developed for the PC, and not only the Xbox One. Obviously the Xbox One wont be using the same assets as Series X and PC versions will.
So it is not a ported over version on the Xbox One, it's being built for the Series X alongside the PC version.

I think that 70 % gpu usage was at the same settings as base Xbox One because in the end XB1X Forza 7 settings has way higher settings than XB1.

Its a racing game. It won't in any way be limited or gimped by the fact that they are also making a version for Xbox One.

The XSX version will use Ray Tracing, Velocity Architecture, highest level textures, it will use the increased GPU power and CPU power, not to mention the faster RAM.

Its wishful thinking to say that Forza 8 will be limited by the Xbox One, as that straight up is incorrect.

Look, it boils down to one question: will they primarily target current gen or next gen in this cross gen period.

We don't know. You've admitted as much.

My point of view is that it's easier to develop primarily for next gen and then port down than vice versa. I think it would make more sense for them to have base One games running at 720p 30 fps with low settings than Series X games at 4k 120 fps with high settings, because 120 fps is such a pointless target.

Plus, there's the commercial imperative. Microsoft isn't entirely free of the need to make Series X games look something remotely like next gen. They've made this fancy console, it stands to reason they want to sell it to us. That's a lot more difficult if the games look a generation behind PS5 games.

I'm not saying they definitely won't do as you say they will. It's possible.

As to why something like The Last Of Us 1 doesn't look like The Last Of Us 2 or Uncharted 4 or anything like that on PS4. Being ON a system doesn't mean the game was made from the ground up for the system.

Its why ACIV doesn't look like Unity.

Its why Watchdogs 1 doesn't look as impressive as Watchdogs 2.

Porting a game on PS4 or XONE doesn't actually mean it will actually look as good as ground up PS4 and XONE games.

CLEARLY porting XONE games to Series X or PS4 to PS5 is not going to look like native made from the ground up PS5 or Series X games.

As to why something like The Last Of Us 1 doesn't look like The Last Of Us 2 or Uncharted 4 or anything like that on PS4. Being ON a system doesn't mean the game was made from the ground up for the system.

Its why Watchdogs 1 doesn't look as impressive as Watchdogs 2.

Porting a game on PS4 or XONE doesn't actually mean it will actually look as good as ground up PS4 and XONE games.

CLEARLY porting XONE games to Series X or PS4 to PS5 is not going to look like native made from the ground up PS5 or Series X games.

Keep in mind, I don't disagree with your statement in general, simply that with cross gen games, most companies are not making legit 2 versions, ie 1 last gen version and 1 next gen version that maxes out the system or something. They are simply making 1 version and porting it.

Everything was reading well until I read 4k 120 fps with quality over quatinty as a focus + cinamtic story mode and all the other jazz. You can make a 120 fps racer but those graphics are gonna take a fat hit. Add ray tracing to the mix etc.... lets just say: Press X for doubt. MS wants a looker too to push the Series X.

Although you're probably right in what you have said in this thread, lets not forget the likes of Dragon Age Inquisition, and Shadow of Mordor. Its probably true but its not certain that XSX version of games will just be XB1 version at higher rez and framerate.

They arnt making it for the xbox one and porting it up, thats just stupid.
Turn 10 have these things called "Xbox Series X Developer Kits".
Just like they will also develop the game for Nvidia Cards, with Nvidia Ray Tracing, for Intel CPUs, for AMD CPUs, for 8 core CPUs, for 6 core CPUs, 4 core etc.
They have developed it for RDNA 1 and 2 GPUs, Vega GPUs, for GDDR 5 RAM, for GDDR 6 RAM.
They have developed it with Ray Tracing, and without Ray Tracing, with VRS and without VRS, with 8k textures, and without 8k textures.
Devs like Turn 10 dont just develop a game for Xbox One and "port it up" to the Series X. Thats not how they work. They will develop it to take advantage of powerful CPUs like i9s, or Zen, and they will also develop it for lower level CPUs. They will develop it for high end GPUs like the 2080ti, for the upcoming RDNA 2 cards, and even then new Nvidia 30 series cards.

They have also developed their new Engine for the upcoming generation in mind. It is their next engine to take them out for the next 10 years. They made that engine to take advantage of the new generation of consoles and PC parts.
