Hmm maybe it will come late on Switch, then again they should've migrated on the Switch sooner. Or fan translated later.
Game's good or not though? I mean the 2
2-2 is literally a "what if" scenario if the MC lost and monster girls won. No idea how it is as I don't read moon runes story wise but gameplay wise it looks exactly the same. As for it coming to the Switch ehhhh hard doubt.

Not only you get her from quest instead of being random draw but also she is legitimately very strong Blade.

Newt in other hand, as much as I love her design she is not that good as agility tank blade.
What is sad is how most of the blades got no love fanart wise and couldn't shine much in the game even with their optional quests.

I mean I also miss a couple of their backlog games....
They had that Yggdra game released on Switch and their upcoming one also planned for Switch right? Ok that's a bit of a stretch.
I'll get a new Vita maybe a couple years later.

I need to farm the rest of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 blades and side quests before I start Torna...will have to do some research on how to do that most efficiently.

Yeah you'd figure at this point they would let you use your BT if you wanted to. But hey, every new tv worth a damn has that option. There is also toslink out in case you decide to go the amp route when you move to your new place.
Yeah, I'm just being complicated. I do wish that wired into the controller were an option still. I just like using my Sennheiser headphones. Had these for a while.

Looks comfy.

Yeah she's great. Also she isn't at the bottom since XC2 has a big cast...

Is this footage from your last vacation?

I wish. That character (Rin) is literally a cat that likes to camp alone mostly so this is all a lie of a video game. Not even sure this is a kind of game I'd be into. But having different kinds of games is a good thing though and I'd like to see how it turns out since the series is extremely campy. (heh)

Never.

Guys, I have a question. If I change my switch's region in the settings to Japan, will I connect to Japanese servers? Right now mine is connected to Europe but I live in China. The connection is fucking horrible all the time, but I don't know if it will make any difference when it comes to online gaming.

I don't think that's how things work.

Working theory/wishful thinking here:

FW 11 update was to stealth introduce Virtual Console 2.0. NES and SNES apps become miniature storefronts with a la carte purchases. Nintendo could introduce GameBoy, DS, N64, GameCube, and potentially even Wii apps in the future as the classic console apps would no longer be explicitly part of NSO. They clearly put in some work updating the N64 emulator and introducing a GameCube and Wii emualtors as well. I doubt they intend to just sit on them.

The FW 11 update added the NSO launcher so that you can identify and launch games that are part of your subscription. The NSO app seemed like a really bizarre addition to me so I have to imagine there is a reason that the NES/SNES game catalog can viewed and launched from that app. If they add more games I would imagine that you would still need NSO for online play and if Nintendo really wants to sell the sub they could offer some sort of NSO discount program or lock features behind NSO.

New apps would come sometime in FY 2021 after the Mario 3D All Stars eShop run ends. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask would among the first games brought to a N64 app for the Zelda Anniversary (I'm not very confident we get ports of the 3DS titles unfortunately). I could even imagine something silly like the GameCube/Wii apps only working on a Switch hardware revision like SNES on New 3DS.

Games should connect you to other players based on ping. The region on the account determines which store you can browse. The region on the hardware should just determines what license agreement you get but thats about it.

I would imagine you are still being connected based on ping. If I had to guess you are probably connecting with other users in Southeast Asia right now. No idea what games you are playing but would anticipate most would be P2P vs dedicated servers. Games aren't region locked to servers so a US or Japanese game can matchmake with anyone. That said, I could totally see the Chinese Switch Titles being locked down such that you are unable to match with them if you are using a Chinese game and users with a US/South American/Japanese/European game are unable to match with you. All of that to say if you are using an international copy of a game you are potentially only matching with others playing international copies. No idea how common it is for someone to own an import game in China or to use another country's eshop. Just thinking out loud here. If the games are running on dedicated servers you could also be far from any of the data centers. Nintendo uses Google so that might be part of your issue as well. I don't know too much about Switch in China...

There is also the issue of how you are connecting to the internet in China too. Again, not something I am familiar with, but it you are having to use something to connect to the internet because of the Great Firewall then that could be another issue.

Finally, Switch wifi is awful so there is no doubt that is exacerbating your problem. Even wired over ethernet is a mess. Some games are just really laggy or have poor netcode like Smash.

Thank you for this. Yeah, Switch's Wifi is pure shit so I might just focus on single player gaming. Warframe is unplayable here, Rocket League lags like hell. I can't download from the Portuguese store (is taking me 7 hours to download SNES app).

Lots of chinese people buy international versions, but I would say they have better internet than I do.

Jokes aside, I've always thought the social side being optional was a poor defense.

If you want to hobble the designers' intended vision, and play literally half a game, with that half of the game being a watered down FE on top of it, you can.

I would argue that's actually worse than all the bottom-of-the-barrel pandering, because you're taking something that was designed to function as a whole and splitting it in two.

Best to play the game as that whole, or to not.

This again?

The thread for dumb arguments is this way, don't let the door hit you on your way out:

I really enjoy the social side of the game personally. I like diving into the characters' back stories. It adds a layer of depth to the story, especially considering you have to pick and choose which characters you can learn about based on how you choose to allocate your time. Your opinion of a character could change depending on how much of their backstory you understand. It's a set of mechanics that I really enjoy and leaves it such that everyone will have a slightly different view of the story and characters based how they allocated their time.

the social part was cool for the first hour then I found it got super repetitive. Banging Hilda was the only thing that kept me going.

Eh, it keeps coming up, I’m going to respond.

Modern FE is probably the only example where I’ve seen Nintendo fans’ standards completely collapse. Normally, we’re a demanding bunch, to the point where masterpieces like Wind Waker will get eaten alive for doing a couple of things wrong, despite being better than 99% of games out there.

The way this game plays, it’s lack of polish. It’s fundamentally junk. I recall seeing behavior from the game that wouldn’t be out of place in a PS1 game.

That’s putting aside a complete and total divert from everything FE used to be, to pivot to the bottom-of-the-barrel dating simulator, third string Vita RPG stuff.

I think you can still enjoy it despite that. I actually think that if you’re into that stuff, you can get quite a bit of enjoyment out of it.

But this game completely lets down expectations and quality standards, not even just for Fire Emblem, but Nintendo games in general. I feel like being a Nintendo and FE fan, means calling that out as unacceptable.

I didn't really mind the game as I stated before. It's one of the switch games I've actually finished.

The timeskip I thought was cool. The battles were a lot of fun especially playing on some of the harder modes. My problem with the game was the repetition. Okay put that stuff in there but make it meaningful and fun I guess. Not just running around picking up peoples shit after them. The graphics were serviceable on the characters but the environments and backgrounds were atrocious. Maybe im not too hard on it because it was my first FE?

I don't know it was enough for me to go through one path and say okay I enjoyed my time with this game but I didn't ever feel a need to go back and play the DLC or another path.

Also, I find the social aspects and backstory bits for each character important in a game where you have to potentially make decisions in every engagement that could lead one of those characters to their death (if you're not playing on Casual, or save scumming to keep those units alive which is basically the same thing sorry nerds). Adds another layer of depth to those decisions.

You forgot to switch to your alt account, Lionel Richie Lionel Richie

Nah Hilda's not a 10,000 year old loli dragon god.

I agree, but I think there’s a balance between sensibly expanding character depth and emotional connections, and going completely mad with it. I also don’t think their motives are as pure as that — this social stuff seems to sell decently enough in the Japanese market, and I think that’s the incentive here.

I think -Arcadia- -Arcadia- just had trouble choosing the right dialogue option during the tea sessions and is bitter about it.

I totally understand not enjoying that aspect. It probably does get close to some sort of visual novel/dating sim as you suggested. That said I found those sequences to be entertaining. I've always been someone who enjoys navigating dialogue in RPGs. I will usually take a second to consider my dialogue choice in any game I play, even if it is one where dialogue choices don't have a story impact.

That's why I made that list in my semi-review. It's the pattern I follow during every exploration, and I feel it's pretty much the most efficient way to get the most out of that time. If it wasn't for how addictive it is to actually train your students and how well written their characters are... I'm not sure how much I would truly enjoy this game.

I don't get what happened to Ubisoft in general. I remember their days pumping out stuff like Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Beyond Good and Evil, and Rayman, and it seemed like they were really talented, and often with a European flavor that made their games stand out.

That was the whole reason people were excited for Assassin's Creed in the first place, the concept plus how good Ubisoft was.

Of course, that came out, was an overhyped bore with a lot of flash that took off with casual gamers, and it seems like that has influenced the company more and more, every year since then.

It's been a slow decline, but lately, they just seem like another EA or Activision.

What sucks is that it seems like the talent is still there. Just a bit of Nintendo management and oversight brought us one of the most delightful surprises of the generation in Mario + Rabbids. If they were to stop designing by comittee, and pumping out boring open world after boring open world just for marketing, and actually get some spark and creative joy back in their products, who knows what they'd be capable of?

I had a similar thought recently but not about Ubisoft. I sometimes catch myself being caught up in the nostalgia of the PS2/GCN/XBOX generation. There were so many franchises alive back then. I remember PS2 and Xbox having competing baseball and football titles, each with their separate gangs of fanboys, and that was the one thing I immediately noticed when I bought a 360--I realized quickly that the only baseball title available to me was a steaming pile of 2K garbage and bought a PS3 just to play The Show.

Some time between PS2 and PS3, the market seemingly stopped making a lot of fan-favorite franchises. It was specifically during this transition of generations that the market became darker, pee-tinted, gritty, and mature. And a lot of other game franchises vanished without a trace on PS3/360. I can think of various reasons why the industry changed (HD, costs, etc) but I don't know why these changes meant that the aforementioned titles in your post and the ones I miss have simply disappeared from the market over time.

Titles I sorely miss: actually fun snowboarding games, actually fun American football games, actually fun wrestling games
