Gamepass delivered bigly in 2024

No my friend, GP subs ate good the whole year.

Just 1 key title out of the dozen or so each month below. Not even including MW3, Diablo IV and the many other day 1 releases.

Palworld in January
Persona 3 Reload in February
MLB The Show in March
Jedi Survivor in April
Hellblade 2 in May
Octopath Travelrer 2 in June
Path of Goddess in July
Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy in August
Age of Mythology in September
Black Ops 6 in October
STALKER 2 in November
Indiana Jones in December

Relative to what it costs, the first 9 months were shit IMO.

And the market doesn't give a shit about it. The Xbox Stank is real.
So given this many great games are hitting the service and providing value, subscription numbers must be growing right?

I do. That's why I asked.

It's been really interested to watch the evolution of the Xbox brand over the last 12 years, and I'll continue to follow it.

Lesson to be learned. You will not keep your house warm by burning all your insulation in the furnace... unless you're Xbox... then you have papa Microsoft deliver insulation on a daily basis.

Delivered so bigly that they've still got you guys working your arses off to try and promote it.
I don't even get the point of constantly shoving it down our throats here, this forum probably gets at most a few thousand active users. MS isn't going to get their pie-in-the-sky 100 million subscribers even if the entire population of GAF ran out and bought an Xbox and signed up for Gamepass tomorrow

How "bigly" it delivered is going to vary from person to person. I spent more time going after rewards points than anything else in 2024. Indiana Jones is really the first game that I felt made the service really good. If I were actually paying cash rather than points for Game Pass then I would have bought two months worth for Indiana Jones and maybe Call of Duty (campaign). I would have passed completely on Hellblade 2 and the rest.

But then if you look at the Xbox Year in Review thread, it is pretty easy to spot the folks that benefitted from GP.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

You chose to enter this thread and make this post. No one asked you to feel victimized by the discussion going on here, lol.

All my favourite releases this year have been on Game Pass, so Xbox are doing something right.

Like I said on the last post, the amount and variety was good enough that one could very easily just play stuff on the service through the year and be happy.

2024 was probably one of the best years for the service since its inception, IMO.

I'm happy for you all. No, I am. You shouldn't be so quick to think that Sony fans would be upset that you got a win with Indiana Jones and an, ahem, above average gamepass year.

Afterall, more power to you. Why shouldn't our fellow gamers get these games at a steal?

I do question sustainability considering how few people will ever actually buy these games; considering how much they probably cost, but good on you. You got a steal.

2022 - 2024: Gaming golden age for GP subscribers. 2025 definitely looks to continue the trend. Replaced, Citizen Sleeper 2, Clair Obscura, Doom, Fable, South of Midnight, AtomFall, Sniper Elite, Avowed, Eternal Strands, 33 Immortals, Mixtape, Towerborne, The Alters, Wuchang, and everything else they haven't announced yet.
That's a pretty good list! Lots of stuff i'm excited for in there. Will probably get a few of them on Steam, but will also definitly play a few of them on PC Game Pass for sure.
Although I hate the Game Pass app. Always some issues with it.

Nope. Not for me. Like I said, it is going to vary from person to person. I played a ton of games this year and most were not on Game Pass. I would not "be happy" if I was limited to that selection.

I haven't purchased a game on Xbox in over a year. Almost all of my Xbox gaming has been game pass this year. I've enjoyed what I played, especially considering it was all paid for with reward points.

I mean, I imagine most keep their house warm with an energy source that is delivered to them. Not many people are making their own electricity or gas.

i dont like gamepass since i prefer owning games and not renting.
You get 10% off any game you purchase. It's not always about staying subscribed, GP is great for just trying out games before you buy them or finding something you like that you never would have bought to begin with. I've found games now in my top 5 & support the hell out of em/owned.

Microsoft pays me.

Activates mine to get some cod. Now cancelled again. I have come to the conclusion that Inorefer to buy the games I actually want to play instead of testing what happens to be available.

gamepass perfect for me cause i barely play video games anymore, probably would have quit by now if it weren't for gamepass with the exception of a couple niche games.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
In the aggregate, it's a good service for a lot of people and MS has definitely invested a lot into offering a good selection.

I've never subscribed, nor will I, because I'm one of those luddites that likes owning shit.

The Evil West
Atlas Fallen
Lords of the Fallen
Flintlock: Siege of Dawn
Were all great playthroughs for me. GP is too expensive now though. It's better to just buy the game instead of renting it.

Its amazing what one game reviewed well do to xbox fans minds .... its quite a phenomenon really.
"One game reviewed well"? That's like a sudoku with too few clues...
Do you mean Palworld? Or Bloodstained? Or Dead Island 2? Or Or Boltgun? Or Diablo IV? Or Jedi Survivor? Or Octopath Traveller 2? Or Mafia Definitive Edition? Or AOM: Retold? Or BLOPS6? Or Aliens Dark Descent? Or STALKER 2? Or Indiana Jones?
Those are the ones I've played, I'm sure there's more - did I pick it already? Can I buy a vowel?
