And I am going to contribute to “Best Deal in Town” TM, by subbing for a month to play Indy in couple of weeks.

Phil can’t keep getting away with that! 😉

Get a 3 month code at eneba or something. You'll get Indy in Dec, Sniper Elite and Citizen Sleeper in Jan and Avowed in Feb.

That’s a good point. I will also mess around with Stalker. Going to give that a few months to “cook” before buying on Steam.

Don’t have particular interest in Avowed from what I have seen, but Sniper is always good fun and Citizen Sleeper 1 was pretty good.

My issue is the goddamn ginormous backlog though, lol. 😅

"One game reviewed well"? That's like a sudoku with too few clues...
Do you mean Palworld? Or Bloodstained? Or Dead Island 2? Or Or Boltgun? Or Diablo IV? Or Jedi Survivor? Or Octopath Traveller 2? Or Mafia Definitive Edition? Or AOM: Retold? Or BLOPS6? Or Aliens Dark Descent? Or STALKER 2? Or Indiana Jones?
Those are the ones I've played, I'm sure there's more - did I pick it already? Can I buy a vowel?
Yeah all this suddenly commotion and free shilling around xbox/gamepass lately is because all those games...sure

... what?
This is like when people say "usual suspects shilling" cause a member with less than year under their belt posts a LTTP about a new game they bought on sale. I feel sorry for the new members who play TLOU2 for the first time and wanna talk about it around here. What "suddenly commotion"? Do you mean this thread, which is looking at Game Pass across the last year? Are yearly re-caps "free shilling" in every instance? Is Spotify "free shilling" when it sends me an annual recap of what I listened to on Spotify that year?

Suddenly? lol, nah man. That's a pretty out-of-touch comment. Either that or this is your first interaction with a havoc00 havoc00 topic/post.

Man's been celebrating game pass for year(s), maybe even longer than me.
Man I wont even argue with you.. you battle trough all the shitness you can while the other shills just go into hiding and only appear in this times... if one person in this site deserves this late W is you .. so just enjoy bro.

I got gamepass but no, Flight SImulator is still broken, half the time it wont even load in the game, servers are a mess, Stalker 2 has a ton of bugs, clunk like no other its comical. Senua 2...arthouse 4 hr experience with PS3 days gameplay.

$240+tax per year to own nothing and lose access to them the second you stop paying, Yeah that's a great deal... :pie_eyeroll:

Since I buy almost all of my games physically for $20-30 each, that's about 10 games a year, that I actually want and that I get to keep. I don't even think most years there's actually 10 games that really interest me.

Why dont you put the money where your mouth is and truly support devs and pay the full price of the games?

I do sometimes, If I think the game is really worth it, but even then, it's around $45, as some stores where I live give heavy discounts the first week. I did it for Astro Bot recently. The thing is I have a huge backlog, so I can wait 6 months for the price to drop on most new games, I always have stuff to play.

So you are another value consumer who would benefit from gamepass but, say no way yet still try to get games on cheap, you either value the price the devs ask and respect it or dont

I'll play Stalker 2 once the bugs are ironed out. But I'll just buy it. Can't deny it's a list of games that are decently reviewed, but doesn't mean they interest me.

Not sure even with a list of games exciting for me I'd ever sub to one of these again. I just don't play a large enough quantity of games, and don't feel the need to try a bunch of games I wouldn't otherwise buy.

It's still a great service for both bigger titles and smaller games, but it doesn't change the fact there still isn't enough Microsoft published games being released on a regular basis. I don't have a problem with that, because I like to look for smaller gems I'd probably normally skip, but it can be a problem if someone likes to play only AAA releases.

There's zero "benefit" if I don't actually own what I pay for. Also "devs" are on a fixed salary, they get paid the same no matter if a game sells at full price, half-price or doesn't sell at all. The revenue of studios and publishers is what's impacted by sales, but if you think that those entities get paid full price per copy downloaded on Gamepass then you're not too bright. They probably make more from an actual sale at half-price than a download on Gamepass.

I'm all on the gamepass train, but the streaming sucks in my location and not being able to add kid accounts in a way that we can play online coop without a console is shit. I mean shit in the sense that upgrading from PC to Ultimate was a total waste.

My issue is that is still nearly $200 to rent games, none of which I would want enough to pay full price for anyway.

I just don't think digital rental services are the future. The fact Xbox has been plummeting since GamePass launched, I'm not sure how much Microsoft still does either.

200 Bucks/Year is not much for a hobby. I can't go to the cinema four times with my wife and get a maximum of 12 hours of entertainment time. In that sense, the 200 hours of GamePass this year for 200 bucks is rather ridiculous.

It also saves me from having to buy expensive games on release. What I want to ‘keep’, I buy half a year/year later for a fraction of the launch price. That way I can play far more games day 1 without any disadvantages. Provided that owning digital games has any meaning at all.

The fact that people want everything for free is nothing new. If you look at streaming subscriptions, the market situation is far worse. I pay far more there for much less quality. Gamepass will certainly become more expensive, but the price-performance ratio is better than ever before. The catalogue is broad enough to make many people happy.

You know, I came to a realization last night while I was formatting my PS4 Pro before I give it away. Long term, I don't really want any of this stuff, it just takes up space. I use my PC for a few different purposes other than gaming, but going through a box of games sifting through the ones I want to give away, I asked myself "why do you want any of these". I get the right to own movement and I agree with it, but I also don't want a bunch of discs I might use in 20 years. I do keep books, about 1 bookshelf full, but I don't need anything other than the book, to read it. This Xbox game pass thing, I didn't know who it was for. Now I know, it would be for people like me, but on consoles. At least on PC, if I buy a game, I never have to deal with it other than when I want to play it.

So if i can say, studio will get pay xxxxxxx budget, depend on their game popularity, they have class for that, and xbox have the right to publish in their platform. Depend on the deal, it can be worse or better. The things that i can say it, some indies sold the right to xbox after xx months to squeeze the better platform first. Because gamepass is not too promising for them if its for the first time.

I have enjoyed what I have used GP for this year. Indy and COD being the latest. We also got Manor Lords on PC which is unfinished and fun.

Still the best value in gaming.

well fuck me for not respecting dairy farmers because I bought my milk on sale.

Gets pretty tiresome to enjoy xbox and constantly be called a shill here at GAF, it couldn't possibly be that we enjoy the system, GP or games now could it. Weird we don't see the same behaviour in other platform based threads tolerated. Why is this allowed to continue in basically every positive GAF xbox thread for years at this point?

There is a tonal difference with regards to xbox here at GAF.
