My issue is that is still nearly $200 to rent games, none of which I would want enough to pay full price for anyway.

I just don't think digital rental services are the future. The fact Xbox has been plummeting since GamePass launched, I'm not sure how much Microsoft still does either.

I’ve played Starfield, Call of Duty, Stalker 2, and soon Indiana Jones for about $140 in Gamepass gift cards from cdkeys. I buy gems I really like, but it still saves me a ton of money. You don’t even have to keep it year round… just sub every now and then if there’s something to try then drop it, like Netflix.

I'm subbed for a few more years at $90 per year for ultimate. I've played some day 1's on it and found some games I'm happy I didn't spend $70 for. The value is definitely there for me.

I dsiconnected my XSX just to reconnect my PS3 to the TV earlier this year. Haven‘t regretted it since. PS3 has just so many great games still stuck on the platform, currently enjoying FFXIII. Meanwhile I‘m thinking about selling XSX, as I have no use for it. GP works for streaming on my Steam Deck just fine if I want to and all the games they offered this year are beatable within a one month subscription.
