Guys tell me how it is.
Is rise of ronin a better game? I've looked at some gameplay and honestly it looks kinda... great?
I slept on it last year so hard

Better than what? It is a pretty decent game. Has flaws but it's enjoyable.

I wouldn't be surprised if they released a PS5 Pro update for Tsushima right before Assassin's Creed Shadows comes out. However, I do wonder about the relations with Koei Tecmo. They can't appreciate that.

I played Ghost of Tsushima and I personally did not enjoy the game very much, not the combat or open world design.

People say it "better" Assassin Creed game but that not exactly good selling point especially the fact I hate AC games.

Give me Sekiro 2 please......

Edit: Or I wish new Onimusha released this year.

I mean... you know how it is.,
Maybe it's a hidden gem? Honestly, gameplay of rise of ronin looks mor fun that GOT. Any gameplay I check of got looks... kinda boring. I have the game, even dc for ps5. Just couldn't get to play it yet.
I am thinking about picking up rise of ronin.... but then, shadows is coming out now too lol.
That will be 3 samurai backlog games for me lol

Rise of the Ronin is cool as fuck. The combat is SUPER satisfying so it's easy to forgive the game's other rough edges.

Don't sleep on it. It's wildly different than Ghost of Tsushima, they're both excellent in their own way.

What I wanted to hear.

To this date, there has not been a single, original PC game that runs well made by any japanese dev. Stick to nintendo. Leave PC to westerners.

I had a friend of mine here in the UK, he went to live in Japan for a few years, and ended marrying a Japanese woman and he really fell in love with the culture.

He's moved back to the UK for a few months, and had a lot of spare time on his hands, I recommended him play Ghost of Tsushima as he might enjoy it more given his experience - and boy was I right, he's fallen in love with the game and called it a beautiful depiction of Japanese culture and values. Since then, severel of my other friends have started to play the game, and they're all really enjoying it.

I think this game is aging better than most of Sony's first party titles.

Ghost is meh.

Combat system is not deep at all, it's a rock paper scissor system that gets really repetitive with little depth and few movesets, for only one weapon (Katana).
And for a game named GHOST of Tsushima, the stealth system is really bad. Everything is automated. It's no Tenchu for sure. Even Sekiro is better.
Ghost lacks enemy variety, has small villages and very repetitive ubisoft themed activities.

Rise of the Ronin has good combat system with a lot of weapons, each having a lot of movesets that combo into each others, but stealth could be better, and it has the same automated jump stealth kills as Ghost, which is a shame.
Same ubisoft activities with a better level design though.
Rise has 3 CITIES (Yokohama, Kyoto and Edo) which is unparalleled in its category (and I suspect it's why Ghost of Yotei won't be in a sprawling city and be located in the wildness of Hokkaido, because it's hard to do), and an immense pleasure to visit all the temples.

Ghost has extremely good artstyle and great tech, while Rise has serviceable artstyle and bad tech (even if textures are way better than Ghost).
Story varies from ok to meh in both games.

To conclude, I prefer Rise because I'm gameplay focused, even if Ghost had its moment.

Some things like the combat are better, the graphic\art design are worse.

If you like the idea of a nioh open world but not quite as good (combat mostly, the story is much better) you are gonna have fun with the game.

I wouldn't say it's better, it has different priorities. Much better combat, sloppier story, much more entertaining characters, but they're not as well developed, it has actual cities, but open world overall isn't as engrossing as in GoT. Tit for tat kinda scenario.

What I will absolutely say, is that it's an amazing game and if you aren't allergic to dropping your Graphical Settings, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a fun ride.

Kinda shame they're doing a sale now, I kinda wished they'd do one for upcoming AC: Trash.

Honestly, kinda of dick move to put this game on sale the same week RotR releases.

Depends on what you want in a game. GoT is clearly better looking and it also runs significantly better. I like the story and characters in RotR more and gameplay wise, RotR is far superior. They aren't really even in the same class. The combat is faster, it's tighter, 1 weapon has more variety than the entirety of GoT, and there are a dozen different weapons, each with multiple stances and movesets. Both of them have the same standard open world AC, go to this area, clear area, rinse repeat, but RotR also has "instanced" story missions that you can play alone or with multiple NPCs who you can choose between.

Team Ninja never disappoints in gameplay.

Ronin is dope. It's simply fun to play and it's a massive game. It's deceiving at first because it's quite difficult and might seem like a Soulslike but its really not. As you play more and things open up, the game simply allows you to approach things in how you want to play it, and you can get OP as shit with ease. It's not a very difficult game unless you want it to be (don't rely on buffs). Sadly, the game still hasn't found its audience. There's so many cool things to discuss about the game but the player count isn't there to get the discussions going, every thread is focused on GOT or tech issues/visuals. It's a shame.

I assume its because it finally went on a good sale. I just bought it too, couldn't pass it up for $25.

I tried to like Rise. Nioh 2 is my action goat. I fell off after 10 hours and I tried HARD.

1. The graphics were terrible even on the pro after they eventually fixed it
2. The world was FULL of shit to do and it was all ubisoft slop
3. The gameplay was pretty good

The open world is what killed it for me. The game was pretty awesome on the boat and had really good gameplay but the open world was already so repetitive at the 10 hour mark and I just could not continue. Also, the story which many people loved, held absolutely ZERO interest for me. Hope it was just me, but I fell like Team Ninja has missed the mark a few times lately. Hoping they can bring it back home for Nioh 3.

I got to the point where you unlock your dojo and played a bit after that but I couldn't shake the boredom.
