The whole game of VC has been ported to GTA4's RAGE engine, including the whole map, missions, side missions etc. THE WHOLE GAME. Built by a team of 4 people. There is absolutely no doubt this is the definitive way to play this game. What a start to 2025!

Well, this was originally supposed to be released as a mod-only, requiring the user to own the base game... The expectation would be that owners of the game should be allowed to mod a game as they see fit I guess.

As a result of T2/Rockstar's actions, the whole game is now out there in a ready-to-go state.

One thing I've learned from the release of this mod is that torrent is the ideal method for launching and distributing content such as this. Once it's out there, it can never be contained. It's a beautiful thing to behold.

Install Linux and you can run it through proton/WINE probably.

Winlator on an Android phone is potentially another option... but all these options are sub-optimal at best.

One of the keys areas I think 4 was a downgrade in. Taking away the arcade feel was the downfall of fun GTA

P.S. Initially, the modification was planned to require the original game in order to show respect to the publisher. However, over the past two days, we have completely rebuilt the project, and it is now available as a standalone "installation-ready package". Just download, install, and play. There are no issues with version compatibility since the mod is now fully autonomous. In light of the current uncertainties, we had to make this change to ensure the mod's stable performance for the widest possible audience.

It basically plays like GTA4 now that it's using that engine. Complete with the cover system and amazing ragdolls.

I'm glad the modders just said fuck it and released the whole thing. Holy based.

The gameplay, controls, and physics are 1:1 with GTA 4

So if you like GTA 4, the answer is yes.

Its basically GTA4 gunplay, much better than the Defective Edition

There's a few small graphical glitches here and there (wonder if they have to do more with the ENB that comes packed in than anything else) and the camera while driving fucking sucks, but aside from that, man is this an impressive project.

Yes I have noticed this too although try to increase the draw and shadow distance to the max, it can help to reduce this.

Already did. The glitches I saw were very smalls stuff, like a window texture clipping with the wall behind it, or some weird reflections in the water while my car was drowning but again, very small stuff.

The only real problem I see right now is the camera while driving, it's waaay to low.

Can't help, sorry, it let me choose my native res and it was the default as well.

I'd assume any fix that works for GTA IV should work here as well.

Just create a commandline.txt in the game's folder and put the resolution you want:

-width 1920

-height 1080

This should work because it works too with GTA4

I first started playing this on a 15.6" 4K OLED with all settings maxed out and I was absolutely blown away with the level of detail.

I wanted to keep playing in bed, so I started streaming it to my Steam Deck OLED, 800P @ 90hz and it really just didn't hit the same way at all. It was the first time I've felt seriously let down by the display of the Steam Deck. I think I need to upgrade to a 1080P handheld. Odin 2 Portal is looking tasty.

Yup, just about to post that this is how I fixed it. commandline.txt is already in this installations root folder, so just needed to add -width 3480 and -height 2160 to it. Cheers for the help
