Baiken trailers are out!

I really like the changes and new mechanics they added! Didn't expected the new super at all.

Releases this Friday for season pass

Also combo creation mode added

I'm a happy man :)

Happy for you man, she looks fun, if a little stubby. The fireworks gun was the surprise for me. Good stuff.

Can you get just her? Or do you have to buy the whole season pass?
I think you can just buy her, but she won't be available until the 31st, since season pass owners will get her first.

As for those trailers, not really feeling it. They stripped her kit (Strive in a nutshell) and I can't stand her look in this or Xrd. I will always love those +r renders of her and I-no but whatever.

And according to the official site her ease of play is 4 stars so the coomers can play her. Youzansen imput makes it easier to instant overhead and that parry does a ton of damage. This character gonna be annoying unless that parry startup is trash.

Theme is a banger tho. Wanna listen to the whole song.

Quite a change for her(im digging it). Maybe this will lead to her popularity and gameplay being more so in line.

Baiken's tether mechanic seems interesting and utterly hilarious - it reminds me of those hardcore fights where they tie one of your arms to your opponent. Seems like a really unique gimmick.

The thought of tethering yourself to Potemkin is both awesome and terrifying at the same time.

Of note - she's listed as an easier to use character now apparently based on one of the previews I saw.

I'm getting a Ramlethal level of rework vibe here - on the surface it seems like a lot has been removed but Baiken might actually be pretty damn fun to use based on how streamlined everything seems to be now. This rework might actually get more people to play her.

Been meaning to come back to this thread and say Baiken is freaken fun to play! My favorite character in the game now :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:. She lost some things from past games but still her Strive version is dope too. I gotta learn how to do all these throw tether mixups right lol.

I would love to try out Baiken but unfortunately i don't have season pass and Baiken standalone purchase is a bit steep.
Anyways played online today and got into Floor 4 but already have beaten some other players on that floor.

Just read the patch notes and there are some huge changes that bring some n.eeded quality of life to the game and opens up the possibility to a variety of new combos. I liked the standing P and crouching K changes, Roman Cancel, Dash Cancels, and input priority. Still not sure about the faultless defense button option.

There are just too many changes that only jumping and testing everything will make realize how deep these changes are. I'm quite excited to test some things out.

2 things that bother me about this game are meter usage being too little and damage being too high. I am relatively new to fighting games though so maybe I'm just not playing optimally but the most fun aspect of the game is using the RC system, however I don't get to use it as much as I'd like to because it takes half the meter. I wish the player was able to keep their meter between rounds. Everytime a round ends it feels like it should have meter.

The damage is so high that matches are often over really fast but maybe that's just a preference thing. I like to err on the side of longer matches though to feel like I'm really playing the game.

Meter carrying over would make the experience even worse for you. Game already has too much damage as it is - so imagine your opponent starting a second round with full meter. YOu'd be climbing uphill to begin with.

Meter reset means you get a clean second chance and it encourages offense (spending meter) in the first.

I agree, I liked the idea of higher damage on paper but in practice it means you have less opportunities to reverse your fortunes and one bad play can mean most of your life bar. Glad to see they are continuing to tone the damage down.

I always forget about the meter, and I can barely reliably do the motion to trigger a super anyways, forget about utilizing RC. That’s just my lack of skill as a player though, not the game’s fault. Gio gives you buffs if you have meter but don’t use it, that’s awesome because I can still get utility from the meter system by totally ignoring it with her. Would love to see some less committal meter options like EX moves like in past GG’s.

Asuka looks cool and all but suffice to say I stop supporting Strive with the whole Bridget bullshit. And even before that, I was starting to lose interest in the game and the community.

So, WTF is going on with this game?

I haven't played fighting games for real since original SFIV which is quite a long fuckin' time. Strive was on my wishlist for a few years now and I was thinking about buying it and getting into FG again. But imagine my surprise when I found out that it's fucked up, matchmaking is shit, net code is shit, they're super effin' slow with updates and character ballance patches the list goes on. I mean, how can you release a character and release a ballance patch 6 months or even a 1 year after and ruin other characters while doing so as well?

I mean, I don't care about Tekken at all cuz super stuff, clunky and slow af combat is not my thing and never was, SF6 I will won't by until they'll release 20 more editions with all the characters and MK1 can go a fuck itself hudred time over. I want to play something new and I'm not a fan of Grandblue. Is Strive really that bad now? There's barely any SP content so online must be fuckin' perfect.

Oh, so you’re just not that into fighting games.

As I've said, I was back in the SFIV days (including all versions of it + SF x Tekken), but after that (for me) there wasn't anything worth investing my time in and MvC3 wasn't available on PC until much and much later.

I want to give new Guilty Gear a shot but from what I read about it, it doesn't look like I should, but I'd love to hear what people here think about the game in it's current state. There's still time for me to buy the main game and at least the first character pass.

Your first post just sounded like a bunch of excuses as to not play fighting games.

Especially if you’re hearing them second hand, and then posting as if it’s the truth. I play GGStrive, net code is fine. Matchmaking is fine.

If you’re looking at this many excuses to not play any current fighting games, just seems like you’re not into fighting games. Talking shit when you don’t even have first hand experience is the fastest track to get on that scrub life.

We're in a golden age of fighting games right now. So many good choices.

More like it sounded like I did some research before buying a game which is hella expensive in most of the regions on the planet for no reason whatsoever.

Especially if you’re hearing them second hand, and then posting as if it’s the truth.
I haven't said that it's truth, it's simply what I've heard and seen while doing my research.

Even though it's not really all that informative, but this should've been your first replay.

If you’re looking at this many excuses to not play any current fighting games, just seems like you’re not into fighting games.
1) Capcom is known for re-releasing SF games a dozens of times under different names with new characters, there's no way I will by the same game dozens of times again after SFIV, so I'm waiting for the final version with full character roster.
2) I don't like what WB and NR did with MK1 one bit, so fuck MK1.
3) As I've said, not a fan of Granblue, hense I've no interest in the Granblue fighting game.

These are no excuses, these are my reasons.

Talking shit when you don’t even have first hand experience is the fastest track to get on that scrub life.
Obviously I've no first hand experience cuz I haven't bought and played the game yet.

Anyway...

Come here for an advice and to hear from people about the state of the game, make an informative decision and... uh, whatever man.

Ok, just wait until an “ultimate” edition comes out lol. At the end of a games lifespan. You won’t be behind at all lol. It’s OK, you’re just a casual. Nothing wrong with that.

Games go on sale all the time. Strive is $20 regularly. SF6 has some great sales recently and hit 50% off. Tekken 8 will go on sale at some point guaranteed, if it hasn’t already. MK1 is on sale regularly too.

The problem is posting second hand information as if it were true. You have zero first hand experience in this situation, as you don’t actually have any of these games. There’s plenty of positive things in these games, just repeating the shitty things about these games from second hand reports, as if the slew of games we have right now aren’t great, is, imo, the definition of leading that scrub life. So many amazing choices to pick from, IF you’re a fighting game fan. No game is perfect, there’s no such thing, but focusing only on the perceived negatives is only doing yourself a disservice (again only if you’re actually into fighting games)
