I just got my new PS5 Pro and discovered a method to use the existing PS5 SLIM Faceplates today without harming the console. I've created a video to demonstrate how I achieved this, and it's functioning perfectly with my current slim faceplates.

I explain why existing faceplates don't work and give you 4 ways to make your existing SLIM Faceplates work if you don't want to wait or paint your existing ones. 100% safe



Ive added it here so you dont have to leave neogaf or sub etc.. I just wanted to give out my solution and hope it helps some of you wanting to use existing faceplates.

The plates are physically smaller though...They are too short, it looks worse now IMO, lol.

This is...certainly a thing a person could do, I guess. Don't be surprised if you get pummeled in the comments over this though.

Gotta love the "Disc-Free Console" tag on the box like physical media is an STD or something.

They are not smaller at least not my plates it looks perfect but this is just a “if your cheap” it works kinda thing and better than painting or waiting also easily removed

Sold my ps5 slim. covers not worth reselling did zero harm to my pro and it looks good in my entertainment center now. You don’t have to do this but some have found it useful.

When they come out with some I may invest but honestly you couldn’t tell the difference

when the first ps5 came out i just painted them black. no cutting or modifying. just took my paint gun into a booth and gave it 4 coats of matte black

I know your pain but it can be so much worse, I was watching a video recently about an "easy/quick/safe" guitar amp conversion.

1 minute in and the guy goes to his workshop and gets industrial gear involved.

I mean I'm all for different colors and stuff, but it's funny how most of the generation so far does not like the default white color. And so much so that they have to make DIY ones. Interesting video, but I'm not gonna do all that.

I guess Sony has some thinking to do for the PS6 or whatever it will be called.

People still don't realize that this is why they did white. They know the black controllers and black plates are by far the most popular. It's the same reason why they took the colored icons off the controller only to sell the anniversary edition greys with the icons having the original colors. In the spring they'll probably do the same with the PS2 theme.
