Do we know (approx) when nvidia will be launching their new cards? I'm wanting to upgrade my rig soon in preparation for Crysis 3 - and my 560Ti is really beginning to show its age in Far Cry 3. I'm considering the GTX680, but I'd like to be able to run games released this year (and hopefully early next year) at 1080p/60fps. I can't stand anything below 54-60.
My current specs if curious: [email protected] 16GB RAM, 480GB SSD, 560Ti 1GB VRAM
Weren't the Unreal Samaritan and the Agni's Philosophy demos run on a single 680 card?
1) Manually download the drivers. Don't touch them yet though.Asked this in the previous thread, but don't think I got an answer. My 670 doesn't seem to be sticking with the latest updated driver. I go to check for new drivers and it's always the same one it will accept, as if I didn't just download and install it. Is there something I can do to correct this?
Q2-Q3, not much else to go on bar rough guesstimations.
Agni's with little CPU usage, yeah. Samaritan was eventually able to be done on one 680, but at the removal of MSAA, iirc
Thank you, sir. You say drivers, so I'm assuming I'm looking for more than one?1) Manually download the drivers. Don't touch them yet though.
2) Delete the entire folder of C:NVIDIA
3) Go into Add/Remove Programs and remove everything that says NVIDIA.
4) Restart computer.
5) Install newest drivers.
So hard to say. I don't think you can go wrong building now. If you are intent on OC'ing to high heaven in the 4.6-5.0 range, it might be worth waiting for.IT HAS BEGUN! Yay. 2013 thread finally.
I know this is stupid question..but wait for Haswell or build now?
They're all packaged into a single download.Thank you, sir. You say drivers, so I'm assuming I'm looking for more than one?

Should probably stick to an IPS then. I've searched around but does anyone know of any 23-24" IPS monitors that have a matte screen at 16:9?
W7 64 bit
I7 3770K
GTX670
8GB
I have restarted and cleaned but if I start any game now (its plays fine) I get stupid low memory. I look @ my task manager and system memory is 83% is use. What is happening?
Are you having some automated program doing the installation? So I did all the steps and even checking in apps/programs, it says the newest version is in there for my 675. OC GURU on the other hand is still saying it's an update behind. I wouldn't even care if it didn't affect XCOM. I literally can't play the game in the state it's in. It takes a good 10 second to get the mouse from one end of the screen to the other...at the title screen.
Only that game. But if I reinstall this newest driver again, it'll let me play, lag free till I turn it off. One time. So lost here.
And Windows is really showing you 8GB's?
What happens, if you have nothing opened?
I would also suggesting switching the RAM sticks into other slots, if possible. Maybe there is something wrong with those?
I'm not a specialist, when it comes to questions, like this, but I hope it helps. :/
Nope. Manually installed the latest drivers like you said. It's so fucking odd. Keeps going back and forth in performance. After I posted that, I booted up XCOM yet again and it was buttery smooth. Makes no sense, especially with a game that isn't very graphics intensive. I have Far Cry 3 running really well nearly maxed with no hiccups. Are you having some automated program doing the installation?
Yeah..with no games and browser open and vlc - 60% usage.
But in windows you can have multiple monitors with different resolutions. I can for example extend my 1080p PC's monitor to my shitty 720p TV when I want to watch something.
Yes you can. My primary monitor is a 1920x1080 resolution and my secondary is a 1680x1050 monitor. I game on the primary in borderless windowed mode (1920x1080) and my second monitor has webpages, music, monitor software, etc up. In windows it works just fine as well. I use the extended desktop.
I wish dell had an option for their IPS screens without the anti-glare thing.
I'm getting closer.
Here's what I got so far:
i5 3570k
P8Z77-V LK
Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
840 Series Samsung 120GB Internal Solid State Drive
8gb 1600 Ram
I still need to decide if I want to use the case I already have or get another one and then finally decide on a video card. I'm dragging my feet on the video card decision for now. I'm hoping to be able to hold out for the "Titian" release so that the 7950 price might drive down a little more. However, I'm starting to think that 299.99 - 320.00 is the best I'm going to be able to do for a while on a 7950.
There is nothing quite like getting all the parts together for a new rig. I love this feeling and wish I didn't have to wait every 4 years to do it.
I would consider an alternate ssd. The general consensus is that the 840 isn't the best choice due to its use of TLC nand. Generally the Crucial m4, Samsung 830, and the Samsung 840 pro tend to be the ones recommended here. I am using the 840 pro and it has been fantastic.
You want scissor switches. The arctosa and K750 in the OP both have those.not quite part of the OP's concern but any opinions on the quietest keyboard for typing? I have my PC in the lounge and my wife comments on how loud my typing is on my logitech K120, which I think is reasonably quiet, however I realise it could be better.

The OCZ Vertex 4 gets my personal vote. All current models ship with FW 1.5 and above so no issues at all with that Indilinx controller.
As far as a case for the young man, I STRONGLY recommend the Corsair 500R. I'm surprised it's not in the OP. I just received it 2 days ago. Winner all the way around. Best case I've ever seen bar none. Not that that some of the more expensive ones can't do better but it's a super nice case that can support big GPU's in case you have one with aftermarket heatsinks and has plenty of fan spots and bays. That case has a 10% off coupon on top of the sale as well so it brings it to 107 shipped. 20 dollar rebate as well.
Hmm.. thanks for the feedback. I have generally had good experiences with Samsung electronics so I didn't think that the SSD I selected would be frowned upon. There was a 64gb Samsung 830 there. Perhaps I will go trade this 840 for that.
My idea is to only use the SSD for my OS and a game or two so 64gb should be plenty for that right?
You flatter me. I'm a grown ass man, dog. I ain't fixin to have lights on my PC. /Cedric
Seriously though I don't want a case with glowing LED's I've been looking for something sleek and clean. Any suggestions?
Also any suggestions on the right timing for buying a 3gb 7950?

Yea, I want a 30" Glossy 1600p
I just saw that their ultrasharp 30 inch has that matte finish too. What a way to make an expensive piece of art an expensive piece of shit.

Back again with the mechanical keyboard madness.
So, originally I was going to go with the Rosewill Cherry Red Mx board, but that and the CM Quickfire Rapid seem to have some weird quality issues going on (USB cords and keys failing). What do people think about various other Cherry Red keyboards, specifically:
Corsair Vengeance K60/K90
Gigabyte Aivia Osmium
SteelSeries 6Gv2
Any others I should take a look at that are ~$100 or below?
Any word on the latest Intels? Looking to upgrade fully this year. I upgrade my main PC once every year or two.
