I think you're overstating the influence of China in these numbers. For sure there is some increase especially due to Black Myth Wukong, but even if PS5 is actually doubling PS4's numbers in China, we have no idea what percentage that actually accounts for. Moving from 2 million to 4 million isn't really all that significant.

We know the PS5 is ahead of the PS4 in US and it's in line with in Japan. We also know that it's down in Europe and we know that's largely due to economic decline in Europe as well as inflation.

Once EA FC goes exclusive to this gen and once GTA6 comes out, we're going to see a very different picture out of Europe.
That’s a good point. I wonder how quickly EA will release current gen only FC. Got to be another few years I would think.

GTAVI certainly will push sales though.

EA supported the PS1 through 2004. PS2 launched in 2000.
EA supported the PS2 through 2013. PS3 launched in 2006.
EA supported the PS3 through 2018. PS4 launched in 2013.

You could probably argue that the PS2 got more support because the PS3 hadn't sold enough. You could call it an outlier. You could also say that games are more scalable now, but generally I'd say you're looking at 5 years support after the new system launches. 2025 should probably be the last year for EA FC on PS4.

PS4 is going to get support until the sales dry up. Right now PS4 games sell just as much as Series games so if it's not too much of a hassle we will get PS4 ports even if they come later than the current Gen version.

Things that will prolong PS4 support is Switch , Switch 2 , Series S & Handheld PCs .

PS4 sales aren't the only element to consider here.

Lack of investment in current and future framework can result in an overall dip in sales.

I mean if Switch 2 is popular then games developed for it could also see PS4 ports. PS4 is the console that refuses to die.

I wonder where PS4 sales will end up once it’s finally discontinued, last reported figure we got was 117.2 million (as of March 31, 2022)
