For the best of all consumers I hope Intel keeps going with GPUs for several more generations and becomes a viable third option. The current duopoly is clearly failing us with Nvidia arguably too far ahead and charging whatever they want and STILL dominating marketshare over AMD. They even jumped to Samsung for a generation to Smurf a bit and it still made little difference.

Can't agree more with the many that have already said it. I'm glad. We NEED the competition. The previous GPUs were pretty damn impressive in a variety of ways, they just weren't strong enough. Really hoping this generation of them are stronger and better across the board.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
They are pushing the launch to decide if the GPU division is something they can afford to continue with long term or not. If it doesn’t gain traction I wouldn’t be surprised if that part of the business was sold off or shut down. I’m hoping for a worthwhile contender that will bring some competition to the market, but Intel isn’t in a great place to be competing on cost right now.
Indeed. That is 100% accurate. Intel has nobody to blame but themselves.

I still can't get over how strategically stupid it was for Intel to release the 14000 series. They might have caught the 13 series issues far sooner.

DLSS is too good along with frame gen to go buy anything but nvidia now.

It’s no longer just specs to specs competition. The dlss tech sealed the deal.

I agree, unfortunately.

I recently built a machine for a kid and went 3060 TI with it. I own a 7900 XTX. I got to try the latest XESS, as well as DLSS and FSR. DLSS was so much better you could go as low as 50% scale and still have no distracting flickering or weird artifacts. There were huge issues that would crop up using either of the other two.. with XESS looking better in most ways. It’s no contest.

The Switch 2 is going to do surprising things.

OK so who is gonna be brave enough and be the guinea pig for the rest of us and buys one of those?
Well that's the issue, isn't it? We got people in this thread saying how Intel needs to succeed in GPU's for the sake of "competition" but not one of them will actually buy an Intel GPU

It's the same song and dance they do with AMD. Everyone wants AMD to do better but not because they actually want AMD products, they just want lower prices when they go and buy their next Nvidia product

Basically everyone is a performative competition supporter, in the end it's someone else's job to actually support the competitor

This is 100% true, spoken as a 7900 XTX user.

Do Intel have their own framegen? Because what I've seen of XeSS is already ahead of FSR and the RT performance is better too.

Shots fired at Nvidia and AMD. If Nvidia think they can roll out with a 8gb sub 50% improvement on the 5060, they are absolutely going to get cooked. If the performance is actually as stated, it's going to do a good job keeping prices in check. Will wait to see B770 and if good, will buy to support them.

When you look at the specs and the performance it’s not really that impressive, but then when you factor in the price the rest goes out the window. Assuming drivers are stable, this actually makes the 4060 and 7600/xt seem like a terrible deal.
Eh, I find it middling. Only 10% faster than a 4060 that's 18 months old. It looks decent compared to current offerings, but those are on their way out. I imagine the 5060 will be much faster than the 4060 for around $300. Considering Intel's driver situation and XeSS's scarcity relative to DLSS, this is a mediocre product in terms of its placement in the market.

Yeah, when new gen comes out the calculus can change rapidly, but if the 8600 and 5060 are still using 8gb vram…. Ehhhhh

So the more expensive card is like a 4070 for $249?

Hmmm. I have a 3080 and honestly this seems worth doing.

I assume I could go to geek squad at Best Buy and just say hey switch out these cards for me and pay some fee?

I think the only thing it really has going for it is the 10/12GB RAM. 5060 and 8600 should have about the same perf and price, but only 8GB in the those ~$250-280 standard models, with 16GB models if they exist being prohibitively priced just like the 7600XT and 4060 Ti 16GB. The arrival of 24Gbit GDDR7 will help nVidia there eventually though.

Funny, not that long ago I was cursing Intel and hoping AMD would sweep the floor with them, when Ryzen came out I was so excited. Now I can't even bother with rooting for AMD on the GPU space and here I am hoping Intel brings a so much needed revolution to the low/mid-tier gaming GPU market.

more like a 4060ti I'd say
The 12GB made me think 4070.

Unsure how big of a boost this is from a 3080. A game like cyberpunk 2077 can’t run at max 60fps on a 3080 at 4k.

I’m wondering if this card could.

Is their version of frame gen launching with the cards day one? Unsure if devs will have to go update their old games to allow for it and I doubt many will…

Absolutely not. This would be a downgrade in every way possible lol.

This is gonna be closer to something like a 2080

3080 and 4070 is more or less the same perf. Their 4070/3080 equivalent card will be the B750, whenever that launches next year. With the top tier B770 maybe around a 4070 Super or so.
