I don't think HL3 is coming in 2025, and truly who knows if it is coming ever, but I do believe it's back in full development for the first time in a long time. Now the question is if it reaches escape velocity to make it out of Valve development prison.

I think there's too much smoke for their OS/controller/console/deckard aligning for this year for HL3 to just miss the boat. Just like Half-Life 2 basically launched Steam, Half-Life 3 could launch a slew of new hardware, including their "console" which is codenamed Fremont. Imagine the meltdowns if Half-Life 3 is steam OS/PC exclusive?

I'm a console pleb, and thusly I have no horse in the race to Half-Life 3. However, I feel for the fanbase. They seem dedicated, and HL2 generally gets tons of praise and from what I've seen it is a cool game and doesn't afraid of anything. With all of that in mind, I totally support the HL community in their desire and hope for HL3. Besides, I can never pass up a chance at some copium and some madness.

Meltdowns from whom?
I'd have to imagine whatever sad bastards left (myself included) still holding on to hope for this game aren't goddamned peasants.

You’re new to Neogaf no?

Who wouldn’t see the meltdown if HL3 is not coming to consoles? It would be an epic meltdown.

I mean, it's a pc franchise. Consoles got some ports nearly 20 years ago, I guess.
Perhaps I underestimate the amount of stupidity floating around here, but you would have to be pretty stupid to think Half-Life 3 is coming to consoles, no?

I hope you're right, but I'm sure it will disappoint because of unrealistic expectations. No reason to get hyped.

Half Life 2 was very important back in the day but so were many other games. Half Life is still being remembered but most of it is because of nostalgia reasons. The game doesn't hold up in a lot of ways. Unlike other games of that era like Metroid Prime for example. The VR game is nice and all, but it's extremely niche. Most people didn't experience that because almost nobody uses VR.

How do I vote everything?

Love the tinfoil here.

What are the odds of everything lining up just randomly? Let's go.

I want to believe...

Edit: Half-Life 3 is gonna be built into Steam Deck 3 exclusively, to drive hardware sales. It worked for Steam!

- Valve means business with Half-Life 3.
- Valve is accumulating all their resources and talent into HL3.
- Valve is a privately owned company which means there is no pressure from shareholders to release HL3.

I hope they can stay private.
As long as they're printing money, no need to go public.

Their revenue rivals that of big tech companies, and they have a fraction of their employees and expenses.

If it were to go public it would have an absurd valuation (and I suspect that the pressure to gain market share in that space through corporate ownership and other tactics would be immense).

Gabe doesn't give a fuck. I'm sure everything is organized to stay private even when he's not around anymore.

Also, as long as they're private, they can stay customer-centric.
