Joker 2: Folie à Deux Trailer Drops Tonight

That's when I gained interest. I don't need Joker 2. I need something new.

If you picture what the internal view is from inside of Harley Quinn's head, the whole world probably does look like a musical. A demented, R-rated musical with graphic violence.

At least that's what I'm hoping for, because that's never really been done before.
That is precisely what I’ve been hoping for as well.

Article from the other day said there’s gonna be 15 songs and it’s a “jukebox musical.”

I hope not lol

It looks good. Real good.

The first movie made a billion. Introducing Harley Quinn may push the early figures even greater.

I had never heard that term - "jukebox musical" - until a few months ago when it was used to describe this movie.
I think it's a fairly recent invention (the term, not the concept). Maybe only ten years old.
A Knight's Tale (2001) fits into that category. If that's how they're employing music in Joker 2, I'm fine with that.
Honestly, I expected the worst from this trailer. It wasn't the worst. So I'll stay interested for now.

It’s just means it’s covering already known songs rather than original works.

Which honestly if I’m going to watch a musical I’d rather hear popular tunes than some corny original BS about the plot… but I’d just rather not watch a musical in the first place.

It’s the sheer number of songs I’m more worried about.

Even more than the first, this really is Joker in name only. Nothing really to do with the source material. Whether that helps or hinders the film remains to be seen. I’ll be skipping this in the cinema though.

I'm retarded?
No idea what ppl find amazing by the trailer. Looks ok? Oscar-bait type of movie. Nothing particularly insane or wow about it, even more so knowing it has no impact on the new DCU so I'm whatever on it.

I actually think Gaga looks nice in this.

I just hope that her presence doesn't make this an instant musical.

Phoenix as Joker is more of the same - amazing.

Cinematography is gorgeous. Some really striking shots.

And that's all that I can say. I dont like Gaga acting, I think she overacts too much. Her overacting may fit the character now, but I'm not hopeful. Joaquin will swallow her whole when they'll be both on screen.

Alao, it being a musical makes me very nervous

Well, if it crashes and burn, at least we have the original movie.

Sorry I'm kinda out of touch with these films but is Pattinson's Batman and this joker set in the same movie universe.. As in are they gonna meet eventually?

Wasn’t feeling it but that last shot was funny. Still , I’m disappointed this is a musicial.
I wouldn't worry about it being a musical, I feel like it won't deviate too far from the first film. As a professional clown and an aspiring stand-up comedian, there's always been an association between Arthur Fleck's personality and performing arts. There are a few scenes in the first film that befit a stage performance. It will be an easy transition tonally, with Phoenix's character remaining the same.

This was never based on any specific DC material, it was always loosely based on the characters. Which is cool because the film isn't beholden to any expectations. I prefer it this way, most comic book adaptations bore me to death.

There's a fine line between loosely basing your adaptation on an existing character... and just slapping a character's name on your completely different character because you know that's how it'll sell more tickets.

This is not a complaint. I enjoyed Joker, but it's cynicism is obvious.

Trailer just showed a few brief snippets so it's too early to tell. Could be good, could be bad. Will likely see it at home unless it gets insane buzz from real viewers.

I feel like we know the trick now, so part 2 won't have nearly the same impact. If he has a new trick for us, we'll see. I'm mot much of a fan of gaga either, as we have seen with Robies take, Harley Quinn is a TOUGH character to do in live action. This trailer feels like it is deceptive about the film TBH.

Some here are absolutely sleeping on Gaga
It could just be a bad trailer but she comes off very flat so far. Maybe they're waiting for the main trailer but when you're having Gaga play Harley Quinn in hotly anticipated sequel to Joker I would have expected them come out of the gates swinging at least a little.

Ascension to madness.

Notice the consistent use of stairs, a metaphor for going further into insanity, maybe? Reminds me of how Bong Joon-ho used stairs and verticality to visually represent upper and lower class dynamics in Parasite. I think the first set of steps are the same ones used by Arthur in the first film where he is dancing, I could be wrong.

It could be a porn movie with Janet Reno, as long as it's directed by Phillips it's gonna be interesting and more than technically sound

First one he descended into madness alone, this time he ascend to freedom (which in it's purest form is madness) having found what he was missing the whole time, a companion. I get some might think Philipps symbolism is too much on the nose, but dudes we live in an era of marvel movies, compared to which Joker is almost Moby Dick...

unlike most trailers which rely heavily on showing dialog and most of the action and key moments from a film, essentially giving away the entire movie......I think the trailer said enough without giving much away. brief overview provided: meet and fall in love in a mental asylum. possibly escape by the end...

maybe she gets released and ends up breaking him out at a hearing or something....most of the fantasies/song parts look to be in one of their heads too.

I'm wondering when she leans over to him as they watch the film and says " lets get out of here" if she is alluding to making out or breaking out.

tbh - gaga dressed in full regale walking up the steps might be one of the ending shots/scenes. I could see the movie taking the whole film just to reveal her transformative look. the trailer does feel a bit more focused on harley, so maybe it will skew more towards her POV, which would be neat.

i do hope there is some reckless action/chaos/havoc though. I dont want it to be a melodramatic love story between two insane people taking place within their heads and mental facility for most of the film. gimme some meat to the overall narrative.

This is a “teaser”, there probably will be a “shows too much” trailer later… and yeah I hate those.
