LEGO |OT5| DARKNESS! NO MONEY! (or Break the Rules! Mix the Bags!)

I hope those brick headz are priced decently. $15 would be good. $20 would be pushing it.

If they expect to sell a lot of them, $15 or less here in the U.S. $20 I will seriously consider passing on them or not getting all of them. Who am I kidding, I can't pass them, but I can be selective and only get a few.

Whoa. What's up with the vaguely Totoro-esque structure in the middle?!

That was exactly the same thought I had.

With the piece counts they should be $10 considering they have no figs. Anything more and they are pure cash grab. Mixels were only about $5 for similar piece counts. I'd be willing to go up to $10 though for some of them. I really hope those SDCC ones get released because I want a Doctor Strange, BP and I prefer the look of that Joker to this one. I do like this Batman though and the Cap'n.

Yeah im just being a little pessimistic cause they're clearly going for a more "collectible" audience and might try to exploit that.

Seeing piece counts, I think they will go $10 on BrickHeadz. However, didn't they say last summer at SDCC they would be $15-20? I can see them inflating it due to licensing, but could see it being $10 just to make them fly off the shelves. If anything, they would be awesome stocking stuffers at Christmas.

They will be at least 15 dollar/euro. Come one, search your feelings, you now it to be true.

I'm mighty tempted by some of those (joker, robin, batman, black widow,...) and if they Beauty & The Beast ones do exist and look good I'll be all over them

Beast one will be the best one. Just watch.

On a side note, I have been toying with the idea of making a 2017 LEGO thread to go up about the time the LEGO Batman movie thread does. Just to get new eyes. This thread has a lot of pages to go to hit 200 pages, but feel a fresh thread might be good.

Maybe LEGO 2017 |OT| Everything Was Batman

Or LEGO |OT6| Continuing Darkness! or something like that. Feel like annual threads might be the way to roll from now on.

Found an unreal deal on these so I couldn't say no. Has anyone attempted a "double double bridge"?

This set will appreciate in value significantly when it's retired. It's been largely ignored and is featured in a important scene in Spider-man: Homecoming. It's also great.

Some bad news, LEGO is only showing to retailers at the London Toy Fair, which after how they treated the press last year does not surprise me. Unless we get leaks from retailers, we will have to wait until Nuremberg on February 1st.

Well... except for this prelim for the main set in the upcoming CITY Jungle subtheme. Fair warning though, it is very prelim:

Man, the City theme keeps delivering.

New BrickHeadz have been revealed, available on February 15th for VIPs, and March 1st for everyone.

Note that these are different from the SDCC ones, so are the SDCC BrickHeadz convention-exclusive, or are they being released at a later date?
Yeah, it would suck if the SDCC ones were exclusive, I really liked the doctor Strange one.

But out of these, I love the Hulk and Robin ones. Is there a price on these things yet?
Edit: oh, people are already discussing the prices, lol.

Yeah, I hope theyre in the $10-15 range.

Just bricklink it afterwards for
Dr.-Evil-One-Million-Dollars.png

$15 they will sell decently. But at $10 I could see them flying off shelves, much like POP figures.
The SDCC one's are priced at $39.99 for two (0.18/p) so 20 bucks a pop for the singles?

I really don't know if I would pay $15 for those. Since they slyly never show anything to give you a sense of scale with those heres a link for a review of a couple of the SDCC ones to give you a sense of actual scale. Even if its a mni licensed statue I wouldn't feel comfortable paying more than double the amount of a Mixel sized static mini Lego statue. For the sake of the line and being able to get more I hope they price them no more than $10.

For anyone on the West Coast USA, apparently 99 Cents Only stores have a bunch of different Dimensions packs in stock for $0.99! Reports on Brickpicker of the Scooby Packs and Unikitty at some locations.

Also user " boliramirez" (from Mexico) on Brickpicker is offering one of his 16 copies of 50 Years on Track (4002016) for a trade of 100 mixed Dimension packs

In other news. After over a week of hiatus due to busy schedules and our Portuguese exam, the wife and I finally finished Assembly Square last night. We only had bags 6 to go.

Now that it's finished it's clear it's one of the best Modulars I've built to date. It's not on par with Parisian Restaurant, but really close and definitely as good as Detectives Office. The whole thing looks great too in a modular street, as the small square gives a sort of extra texturing to it and breaks the mold.

The first floors of the buildings are easily the best part, with some brilliant techniques (the upside down dome of the bakery, the bakery windows, the signages, the cakes, ...). The rest of the left building is a bit dull to build, except for some minibuilds like the awesome piano. The top floor of the right buildings are brilliant again though. When I opened the bags I was wondering why there were six Mjolnirs, as I assumed one would be enough for some kind of statue on the facade. Seems like they are quite brilliantly used for some texturing. A hell to line up, but so cool...

Only thing that I didn't like, and it's something Jang pointed out too, is the way the build is separated into only six stages. Some parts just overstay their welcome that way. I would've loved to spread it all out more (I can't stop before I finish a 'number'), and it would've been so easy to do so. This could've easily be made of 8, 10 or even 12 numbers. But you get only six. Especially when you build the floors of the left building you get somewhat of a total repeat halfway trough those bags...

It's a 'problem' almost all the modulars I've built had actually. But here it is very obvious due to the high piece count.

I had help building mine, and we made one floor each on the left. It helped.

We build modulars with two too (it's the only line my wife loves and wants to help building. She likes teh creator vehicles too if it is a car she knows well, but she generally doesn't like building them as she is someone who really enjoys small builds like the piano in AS or pool table in DO)

But we build them together step by step, where we both apply bricks. I want to see every step of the way of the build, lol.

In other news: my Scuttler arrived. I feel this is the start of another black hole...

Don't worry. This is normal behaviour.

And you should really get those sets. The VW Campers is great. I recently bought the Mini, but I still need to build it. And did I see the VW Beetle is one of the best sets of 2016? You should get that one too

I've actually just finished making the T1. It is indeed glorious. A little surprised the bags weren't numbered, though; that's a lot of pieces to search through at once. If I have more in the way of 1000+ piece unnumbered bag sets (is the Mini numbered?), I might need to invest in some smaller trays for presorting.

Soon I want to sort through the various sets I purchased in order to cannibalise them to try to get an idea of where I stand in the process of getting a Cafe Corner together. Anyone got a good suggestion how to handle a checklist? I've got the details in Brickstock, but I can't easily have my computer near my building table (might be able to find space for a laptop, dunno) - having a sheet I can just tick off as I go would be handy, either in paper or tablet form.

It's an older pre-numbered bags-era set. I remember only opening a bag after looking trough the plastic if the needed piece was in there or not. That way you can go for a few steps without opening them all, which diminished the amount of bricks to search trough when you do have them all open.

When I build I throw my bricks in washed out plastic containers Chinse food comes in. (In Belgium at least they come in nice, plastic microwave proof containers, with the ideal size)

That's what I did, but with the T1, you need to open all but one bag fairly quickly.

Ah so the sdcc brickheadz Legos were exclusive after all, should have waited in that super short line for the superman X Wonder Woman set , got the rest though.
I think it'll be $19.99 each

When I did that, I think there was a website where you could enter all the set number you own and then it'd tell you which parts you were missing to build set 'X'. I think you could then export that list into a format that BrickLink could understand

Can't remember the website though :p

Unfortunately, a bunch of the second-hand sets I'm planning to use for this *may* be incomplete, so I can't assume that owning the set means owning all the pieces in it. I'm going to have to go piece-by-piece.

Still, it will help with cross-referencing to determine what I ought to have!

The BrickFan (via Reddit) is reporting that the D2C Pirates of the Caribbean set will be released for VIPs on March 27th in Shanghai. Will have to wait for the NorthAm and Europe calendars to see if this is consistent across regions.

Have to add the cost of printed pieces probably in lower volume than usual. $15. Or something between $15 and $10.

I was thinking of it being very Batman heavy.

It's great to be Batman.

I prefer: Naa naa na naa naa na naaa naaaaa

Will it be the Imperial Flagship killer we're all waiting for though?

So, started putting in orders finally for phase 3 and 4 of the Orthanc project. I plan to have phase 3 which is redoing half of the landscape that is now a full circle around Orthanc into the desolation and Ent attack, done by mid March for Indianapolis show. The underground breeding pits and forges by mid June for Chicago.

Saw this today, final version of a new custom minifigure by "Brothers Figure" called the Corrupt Knight

cJBKMoF.jpg

Is that based on any game or comic? It's a Batman Two-face mashup it seems.

Give me Composite-Superman! Look it up, you'll want it two as it's 50% Batman and actual comic canon.

Please give LEGOGAF a heads up on any parts you plan on wiping out on Bricklink so we have a chance. Also, aren't you doing a steampunk thing too?

Just finished up Baby Quinjet to complete my Quinjet family and i am kinda shocked at just HOW small it is compared to even 2.0...

It looks decent though but overall i gotta say, 1.0 remains King!!! Kinda sad to see the trend going towards smaller ships recently (The new Milano says hi as well)

BEHOLD my package!

Yeah, Bats was dead at one point and various sidekicks and a couple of baddies wanted to take his place, it was called Battle for the Cowl and it mostly sucked (but the main batman story around that time was brilliant)

new shelf sorted at the weekend so picked up Assembly Square today. feelsgoodman
