Looks like the reports of the Switch 2 being a down clocked 3050 laptop equivalent appears to be true

Can't wait for the benchmark comparisons on this thing.

It's not a monster

Who says its a MONSTER? What is a monster for you?

For the 100th time

• Handheld ~PS4 TFlops with better I/O, modern architecture GPU and better CPU
• Docked ~ under PS4 pro raw power with again better I/O, modern architecture docked, better CPU and helped with upscaling in docked mode because you can live with powerdraw and TVs need it more than a 8" screen. Not plagued by fucking FSR pixel soup or checkerboard.

I've been saying the same shit for months now

How is that a MONSTER. It's a slightly better steam deck but without the I/O problems.

It's 2022 SoC handheld power that Nintendo has been sitting on. I'm fine with that. In the gen full of crossgens, its PLENTY enough. Everyone sees with their eyes how this gen stagnated for 5 years now. The "PS5" only games so far are games that would easily run on PS4 with a few tweaks but were mainly limited by I/O. Even Ratched and Clank rift apart looks amazing on Steam deck, but that one is I/O starved and hinders the experience.

The better CPU is why I think we will get a 60fps mode in Elden Ring. That alone will make it better than the Pro version.

Translation = just keep using the Steam Deck.
When that crap of a system plays Nintendo next gen games, we will talk.

the fact that it doesnt even play all the PC games is just pure garbage to me. but then again. I shouldn't be expecting anything from steam OS and a weak ass 3 years old system.

I would lower expectations. Also why go lcd again? Amoled is available on even cheaper smartphones.

This assumes it's a CPU problem and not something else. Everyone thought that was the case in DD2, and it wasn't. And no, I do not expect a solid 60 fps for the Switch 2 or anywhere close without significant compromises

Like I said - we'll see! This will be a fun post to look back at and compare Switch 2 to both Base PS4 and PS4 Pro benchmarks. Your predictions look very optimistic to me.

You don't think it's the CPU why Elden Ring is not 60fps on the PS4 Pro?

You can't defeat an emotional argument with logic, because they didn't get to that conclusion using logic to begin with.

I was going to ask if it's willful ignorance that compels folks to draw such disingenuous conclusions but after reading your post, I realize that folks are not here from honest observation and discourse.

The node is immaterial given most people seem to be accepting the rumored clocks as confirmed. The overdosing on hopium surrounding 5nm was predicated on it allowing them to push clocks to the moon, like 1Ghz portable and 1.8+Ghz docked, which clearly didn't happen if the leaks are accurate. So now you'll only get better battery life if it's 5nm, and won't see a price drop or "refreshed model" for a very very long time (if ever). Node prices are only going up with the AI boom, and 3nm's certainly not getting any cheaper unless Intel's and Samsung's fabs pull off a miracle. Nvidia couldn't even afford to put their 200-500% margin GPU's on 3nm.

Aawww so cute

Again the tech illiterate thinks he understand anything from that video

Literally the leak from a week ago for GPU you dum dum

@ 561 MHz the 1.72 teraflops is higher than steam deck and with architecture difference much better than PS4 base's 1.84TFlops because it can't even do raster and compute concurrently.

Nothing changes since. Nothing from any speculations so far has changed from the 2022 leaks. Everything I said in that thread still holds and DF just reinforces the data we already know on the architecture.

AMD A9-9820 - Xbox One APU - Jaguar @2.35GHz - 294
IPC interpolation means
PS4 - Jaguar @1.6GHz - 200
PS4 Pro - Jaguar @ 2.13GHz = 266

A 3GHz A78 single core performance
Mediatek Dimensity 1200 - A78 @3GHz - 975
Switch 2 A78 @ 1GHz = 325

It would have to downclock to 615 MHz to match Jaguar PS4's 1.6GHz score. for single instructions per clock :messenger_tears_of_joy:

You're telling me that the rumoured clock from DF at ~1GHz will make its IPC 1.63x better CPU than Jaguar in PS4 base and 1.22x PS4 Pro's jaguar clocks?

I'm sorry you don't understand these things James

Still the same thing as 2022. Like @Zacfoldor said, this is fucking groundhog day

~PS4 base TFlops in HANDHELD with much better modern features
  • A78 ARM CPUs. As shown above, IPC destroying Jaguar CPU and A78C which is the cluster for 8 cores is a special one for bigger L3 cache and better gaming performances. On top of these CPUs being optimized for AI.
  • 12 GB vs 8GB.
  • UFS 3.1 storage, a much more power efficient storage than SSD but similar speeds, ~2100MB/s read speed.
  • New I/O from either Ampere or the rumoured decompression engine added in the chip.
  • RT cores & ML tensor cores. ~100-125 TOPs with Tegra Orin's DLA. Which their "2050" doesn't have.
  • Ada's gating backported (again from DF) which better optimizes the SMs for better occupancy.
~3.1 TFlops as per DF's docked 1GHz clocks

Again, since you've been triggered with Nintendo switch rumours, I've been CONSTANT, Jan 7, Jan 9. I predicted 3TFlops in one, 3.2TFlops in another.

On top of avoiding stupid mistakes like PC handhelds like Asus Rog ally, chocking 8.6 TFlops with 102GB/s memory banwidth. Switch 2 has that bandwidth for 3.1TFlops. Feeding the usual Nvidia ampere 25GB/s TFLops & ~25GB/s remaining for CPU.

Handheld 1.7 TFlops * 25 + ~25GB/s for CPU = 67.5 GB/s → OH look, DF puts 68.26 GB/s
Handheld 3.1 TFlops * 25 + ~25GB/s for CPU = 102.5 GB/s → OH look! DF puts 102.4 GB/s

You want more examples of Ampere ~25GB/s per TFlops? Its really basic knowledge

3060 @ 12.74 TFlops for 360 GB/s → 28.25 GB/s/TFlops
3070 @ 20.31 TFlops for 448 GB/s → 22.1 GB/s/TFlops
3080 @ 29.77 TFlops for 760 GB/s → 25.5 GB/s/TFlops
3090 @ 35.58 TFlops for 936 GB/s → 26.3 GB/s/TFlops

wow

Oh look, we had this conversation!

And DF confirms exactly the design.

120 Hz AMOLED is available on basement bargain phones that cost around 150 GBP. I need it to replace the Switch so I will buy this console, but LCD in a 399GBP console is highway robbery and the epitome of cheapness. Well, among the big 3, Nintendo is the epitome of cheapness and penny pinching, so this is hardly unexpected. Since PS5 remote play and Steam Deck have me covered for 3rd party games, it will be a BC+Monolith machine for me.

By the way, I assume this thing will have VRR and HDMI 2.1, right guys? It’ll lift a lot of work out of the console.

Just needs to beat PS4 Pro.
40fps mode then. Ideal for 120hz displays. The only reason that I’d get a third party game on SW2 is portability, and I’m not expecting miracles there. But if you’re a Nintendo only owner that console is certainly open a whole new world of games for those people.
