During a recent investor chat, the studio was asked about their stance on DEI in gaming. Global Marketing Director Ryan Hill confirmed that the studio remains committed to producing player-first video games that prioritize excellent user experience with compelling themes and characters created specifically for "core and adjacent audiences". While some recent video games have taken the opportunity to implement "social and political agendas" within their experiences, Hill continued, the lower than expected commercial performance of some of these games shows that many players do not appreciate these elements. As such, the studio will continue to develop experiences that maximize player enjoyment and commercial success.

I was confused by the title. I read this
"Lords of The Fallen 2 is ignoring DEI"
and thought:
LotF2 was released over a year ago, how is it ignoring DIE?

I think this news says: Lords of The Fallen 2 devs are ignoring DEI

So Lords of the Fallen 2 is Lords of the Fallen 3? Or are they so ashamed of their first game (the one released back in 2014) that they are retconned it out of existence?

Thats an incredibly nice move, but I would rather wait and see for myself if its a genuine move or just enjoying the flow of the market.
Even if it IS just words, the fact that developers need to advertise their games as 'DEI-free' is nothing short of a fucking victory in the grand scheme of the culture war.

We're winning, and don't you dare let people tell you otherwise.

Uh....huh.

So what does that actually mean? I see more bitching here about DEI than I do harm being done. Its a Soulslike to begin with anyway, something tells me its only as "woke" as right wing snowflakes want to be, which could be anywhere from "not at all" to "throwinflg a temper tantrum because woman protagonist scares me"

LOL at anti-DEI actually becoming a bulletin point in marketing.

These are the same people that a few years ago would do/speak the exact opposite 'cause it would have suited them just fine.
Also, LOTF shows its "diversity" literally in the first 5 minutes of the game in the form of the black priest with no other distinguishable characteristics whatsoever besides the fact that he is black (i.e, he's not well written, he isn't recognizable by other means/has no personality).

It's all marketing boys in the end and everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

...having said all that, LOTF is actually...GOOD after 1 year of patching and dare I say, it's one of the best looking games on consoles (on the Pro at least) with some nice music and actually GOOD art-direction, I'm actually amazed by it G'dammit since I was expecting the worst.
I'd recommend it to everyone liking Grimdark souls-likes purely because of the god-tier art direction and nice visuals/terrific atmosphere, shit's G-R-I-M and I love it 😉

I get it, but most of these devs need to just keep quiet about it. No need to talk a create rage in either side.

If you don’t know you’re part of the problem.

Since Lords of the Fallen is Hexworks only game and it was... well, OK, I don’t think DEI supporters are missing out on much. Just sayin.
