One thing that has been bugging me, is the lack of a tube in the back of Shepard's helmet. It's just a hole with no purpose, whereas in ME1, the helmet was connected to the rest of the suit, indicating a function. Is my game just bugged or is it normal with no tube? If so, then it boggles the mind why Bioware chose to remove it.
My Shephard died but Miranda survived. I accidentally went into the suicide mission without realising, hence having only done about 2 loyalty missions :lol

Finished my second play through just now. Pretty satisfied with the ending I got.
I only lost Jack as she was my only squad member not loyal (All because I backed Miranda in that stupid argument they're in after Jack's loyalty mission. I saved the crew, destroyed the Reaper and told the Illusive Man off.
Looking forward to Mass Effect 3 for sure. Going to do some reading up on various stuff in ME2 online.
I finished this a couple days ago, so I have 2 questions that I'm sure have been answered before:
1)On the last mission my Mordin died, though I totally did his loyalty mission. Is it because I gave him shit about
the genophage and stopped him from killing his assistant or because I selected him as the specialist for the first part of the mission? He died immediately after his specialist part, if I had selected someone who I had been "more loyal" with would he still have died?
2)If I do a new game+ will I lose the continuity for what happened on my first play through for importing into ME3? I want to do a renegade playthrough but I will just start a new game if it's going to overwrite what I did the first time.

As you progress through the suicide mission your party passes defense checks. This is based on some grand mahcinationary that calculates how well you are doing vs party makeup. If you aren't progressing as well as you could be (or something) your party has to pass a defense check. Mordin's score is extremely low so he is prone to dying. Sending him back with the rescued crew members is a good idea.
2) Yes and No.
Yes, you will lose continuity in any new save you create. However, as long as you don't save over a previous save you will be OK. IMO the easiest method would be to continue a game and just create and extra save to load in New Game +.
Even better would be just to re-import a lvl 60 ME1 character. That's the best way to start a game.

just finished ME2.
extremely great experience overall.
strange enough the cutscenes were the least immersive.. it would stutter, music would stop, awkward silences, weird looks.. But the gameplay parts are brilliant.
I really loved the recruiting missions and to get to know the characters a bit better.
The scanning needs to go. I rather have a good mission where i steal or win the minerals to upgrade. A race, a fight, a heist.
Faces could use a great deal of improvement imo. Maybe it's hard with the unreal engine, i don't know (i like the faces in MGS4). Some textures could be better.. hope there is room for improvement there.
Still quite a few loadtimes where i don't want them, but much improved from part 1.
The cover mechanic was a bit slow sometimes. this caused me to die a few times.
Apart from one save glitch i have to THANK Bioware for the best SF experience out there.
Truelly amazing. also, the art direction was fucking unbelievable.
The Collector's boss level on Horizon was a bit of a pain in the ass. Died twice almost immediately once I opened the doors. Had to spend most of the level hiding in the truck to the left of the entrance. Used the collector gun on those first two big grunts that kill right out of the gate, but I didn't have much left afterwards for the rest (and there was quite a bit left). Used practically all of my ammo on that level, and my teammates (Mordin and Garrus at the time) went stupid and stopped killed stuff that was running right up to them, so they died. Had to kill the final boss by running around firing shotgun shells at it. Surprised I didn't completely run out of ammo. Probably shoulda brought some of the heavier hitters to a level like that, like Grunt and Jack/Jacob. Ah well, I made it.
Holy shit I am not that far into this game but it is so damn good. Mass Effect I was the first RPG in a long time I felt drawn into and the 2nd feels just the same. Too damn bad I have to leave it behind unfinished when I go back to my university tomorrow.
Sadly I played ME1 on PC and was unable to import the save to my 360 obviously. I was pissed that a few of my decisions in the first are by defaulted changed if you start a fresh game. I am almost thinking of buying the first game for 360 just to get a save going to shape the story how I want it again.
Honestly Bioware is onto something with this persistent story. It's actually going to make me save this game when I pretty much beat then sell every other game these days. Makes me really excited for when The Old Republic comes out.

If you pick anyone other than Legion and Tali or they're not loyal, the tech specialist is gonna die. And if you don't pick Miranda, Jacob or Garrus as the Fire-team leader, the specialist also dies.
Also, Mindlog is not completely accurate. Anyone you don't take to the final battle will stay behind to cover you during the "hold the line" segment. Each member has a hidden defense value and loyal members also gain a bonus to this value. Tough squad mates like Grunt, Garrus and Zaeed have a high defense value so they should preferably be in the group holding the line. The game calculates the total defense value and if it's high enough, everyone survives. If it's not, some of your squad mates will die starting from the non-loyal ones with the lowest defense value. And this is the only part of the misson where there's such a check.

I'm also thinking it has to do on upgrading each member after their loyalty missions. For instance, upgrading Mordin with the Omni-Tool or giving Grunt the Krogan vitality. But like the above poster said, it probably also has to do with how well you're doing during the last mission.
You only need to get all the ship enhancements for everyone to survive. As well as choosing the right squad member for each part of the mission, of course.
I can understand why Joker can't pull Shepard up when he's the only one to survive, but why can't Garrus, Zaeed, or Grunt pull him up? They are strong guys and stuff. Why can't Miranda, Jacob, Samara or Jack use their biotic powers to help Shepard? Hell, why can't Shepard - a soldier - do a simple pull-up and save himself?
Yeah on second thought she probably did die. Initially I thought that she made because she got onto the ship, but maybe she was shot or something. I don't remember her in any of the endgame cutscenes.
Is there anyway to get your teammates to run to a position you point them to? They usually take the most damage when they crawl/walk to a position and get lit the fuck up.

Would be nice, but no. Just try to always stay in front of your squadmates to draw attention away from them, whether they're in cover or moving to and from cover--specially if you're playing on Insanity.

I think they show Joker because he is the only person who can't die (your whole squad is susceptible) so they just made one set of dialogue for him. Just like how you control Joker during the Collector attack on the Normandy.
Through a mod or something? I hate you PC gamers, you're making me want to waste hundreds of dollars to repair my old desktop and upgrade my card.
But wow, if these guys could actually sprint like Shepard every now and then, that would've made things a lot less frustrating for me on my first run through Insanity.
Just finished this now. Pretty epic last few hours, nice music too. While I can appreciate the non-linear structure and everything it brings to the table, I can't help but feel the narrative suffers from it a tad. The bulk of the story was recruitment, and doing recruitment after recruitment felt a little tedious.
The shooter mechanics need definite work. I can't see how people going through this on Insanity would not go insane. I like difficult combat, but when the overall mechanics are lacking, it's just an irritation. For a game that is pretty much a shooter with RPG elements, it definitely falls behind the Gears of Wars and Uncharteds. Squadmates were generally okay, but they seemed to like to try to Rambo their way through on occasion.
The game ran a hell of lot better than ME1 on 360. Some stutters here and there, but nothing too bothersome.
OMG @ the T-800 final boss. Pretty easy, but easy on the eyes.

I just started to watch Chuck, and oh god, I wished I had seen Chuck before playing Mass Effect 2. Sarah is fucking awesome and cute, it would have made appreciate more Miranda.
Although:
Ivonne's Sarah>>>>>>Ivonne's Miranda
Miranda is too bitchy for my taste.
I liked renegade and paragon, because while it was totally binary in the is it good or is it evil sense like most morality systems in games, renegade wasn't always totally, ridiculously evil.
In fact, a lot of the time, the renegade dialogue just made much more sense than being a stand up guy all the goddamn time, without making Shepard some kind of ridiculous monster.
