EA is restructuring Bioware to focus on Mass Effect 5

We're so back fam. (obviously wish these people nothing but the best in their life, I just wanted them to stay away from the next Mass Effect)

All the "folx" at Bioware who lost their jobs made the conscious decision(s) to prioritize their world view and ideology over delivering a Dragon Age game. The end result is many potential customers decided not to foot the bill for their vanity project and so the game failed to meet expectations. For me, it's not necessarily about wishing them well or ill - this is just cause and effect. They made their choices and are now dealing with the outcome of doing so.

News just broke on social media that Bioware just layed off staff an hour ago. This includes Trick Weekes, the lead writer on Veilguard, among others.

Well, they fired a bunch of people who are on Blue Sky, so maybe they're at least trying?

I hope the layed off developers don't ruin another good RPG studio, we only have so few left.
Let them make their own or join some low tier studio for all i care, just don't join and ruin the few good ones left.

Laughing at people losing their jobs?! What the fuck is wrong with you? The majority of people fucked by this situation are the hands on devs who have to do what they are told by management and now they, and their families have to struggle with economic uncertainty. But that is funny to you because you hate their management's politics. Sick.

This is moronic. The majority of people getting laid off just did the work, they are not laden with some infection. You people are so full of hate and so ignorant of how things work it is unreal.

There is no such thing as a modern audience.

That is not neccessarily true. As company makes a certain part about their culture it naturally attracts developers / employees that share this view. You will not find a left-leaning person in a very right-wing organisation because values are not compatible.
So if you see a certain company being outspoken about trans rights that will naturally attract people that are trans or at least share the same world view. It's not rocket science.

It's no wonder Veilguard was a dumpster fire.

It's a game written by trans activists, for trans activists.

That's the person who made up hearing a slur in a song (Joker, Smash Bros. Ultimate). Kotaku had to apologize and Dale quit Twitter for a while - must be nice to face virtually no consequences for making up a controversy like that. Also likes to go on about all the evil TERF women. Just a detestable person overall.

Nice. They should all just band together and start their own company and make super woke drivel as much as they want.
That way they wont ruin any good existing intellectual properties.

The leadership was comprised of activists who we know full certainty ONLY hire other activists (you have the receipts in this very thread) so regardless of those who just want to do their job, the studio was literally infested and run by ideology and now is being purged.

And people should wonder why there are so many writers with similar profiles in gaming companies. Clear answer: that there's ideological discrimination in the hiring process. It's beyond statistical probability that they are hired based on merit. 0% chance. So no, I have no sympathy for those companies and the people who willingly work there.

Better safe than sorry, I dont want these bugs near any good studio or IP and btw it has nothing to do with woke. They are just bad talentless devs.

For this game to win back the fans:

Just make a game in the vein of Mass Effect 2, and for the love of God, keep your DEI/woke shit as far way as possible from this game.
Maybe the combat of 2, but story wise, 2 was just a heist mission with the stereotypical assemble the team.

The first Mass Effect had some jank, but the world building and being an RPG were scaled back so much in the sequels.

They just fired Patrick Weekes, the lead writer for Veilguard. I am now officially hyped for the next Mass Effect. Lets go Mike Gamble and Preston Watamaniuk.

Less estrogen more testorome would fix the problems quick
I won't be so sure. This was the team for Anthem. The issue isn't masculinity, hair color or what's in their pants. It's competence and vision. They are lacking it. The rest is of no concern to me.

Even as a big fan of the ME games, I won't hold my breath for ME5.

Its good they are cleaning up though. With how poorly EA have been doing with EA Sports, DICE and Bioware as of late, something had to give.

Even thinking about possibility that ME 5 will be a good game is copium overdose. Bioware is done

The theory I read is that when a lot of these corporations started the DEI thing, they hired a bunch of people who couldn't do the quality of work that was needed, so they decided to hide those people by shuffling them to HR. Figuring that's the place they wouldn't be able to affect the production process and affect the final product. What they failed to take into account is that once these people got into HR, they started hiring their friends and fellow travelers, and infested the corporations with more and more like minded individuals. So they ended up doing even more harm to the final product.

This is clearly a DEI fire sale. EA had a come to jesus board meeting with Bioware executives and told them that three games were three chances, and to clean house.
Dragon Age Developers Reveal They’ve Been Laid Off After BioWare Puts ‘Full Focus’ on Mass Effect
It appears that everyone who has vanished from Bioware this month are LGBTQ people. coincidence, I think not.

I swear Skill Up was so close to connecting the dots but either it wooshed over his head or was afraid of being cancelled by the minority demographic.

Just doing some Google-fu of those who took to social media shows that everyone has some sort of declaration somewhere of being LGBTQ or an ally. Gee wiz, lol.

I didn't notice the "leaned" part lol. My brain did the auto-correct thing. It's definitely funny to see a typo like that coming from a writer lamenting the loss of writer's jobs at Bioware (while completely ignoring why they lost those jobs). Then again, people who think it's good to change language to espouse their ideology are probably not the best judges of good writing or writers. "Folx", indeed. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

LOL.

I dont care how old someone is at a game company, or how many decades of veteran experience they have either. It's like 95% of people who make the actual games look and act like manchildren. And they wonder why with social media, gamers laugh at them and their tweets.

Yet, I dont get a sense the typical person who designs endless toys sold at Walmart or the tons of Lego sets are as immature as a game dev.
