All this talk of DKCR3D not performing as well as the Wii game is interesting because personally I feel it has a stronger chance of making it to the million mark. Part of me thinks that the crossover between Wii and 3DS owners may not be as big as some believe, meaning a large chunk of the userbase may never have had chance to try the game.

I think that's just a case of people not knowing how a main SMT would sell...and it has been 10 years since Nocturne (SJ isn't that great of a comparison).

200k FW / 300k LTD would be amazing. That's Persona 4 levels of popularity. I guess the accessibility as well as increased popularity for the overall series could push SMT IV that far.

Why wouldn't it? I think the game does pretty decent. Western games have grown drastically, like CoD has dramatically increased sales basically every single year this gen and the UC games did pretty well.

Platforming was a genre that worked on Wii. If DK didn't make 1 million there a 2-years late port to another Nintendo system won't make it either.

I'm not sure where people get this idea that a "remake" could sell a million copies/better than original because it's on 3DS and whatever reason they come up with.

The only remakes that sell over 1 million copies in Japan are Pokemon, DQ and FFIII. Almost all of them are on DS (DQ7 remake is on 3DS) and all of them sell significant less than the original.

For DKCR3D to outsell DKCR and sell more than 1 million copies in Japan alone, it would be making history.

Well, Marvelous is doing pretty damn well with its Wii->Vita ports.

Still, I agree regarding DKCR because there's more audience overlap than with Wii/Vita, and the game already sold alarmingly well to begin with.

Yes it did. But then again it was a much older game so a part of the audience might have considered the DS version as a new entry in the franchise.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Really great SMT4 result if true, Shin EO also gears up to be one if not the best selling EO game till now. Wonder what Atlus will have in store for 3DS after they owned the summer on the system....Devil Survivor 2 got pushed back a little and after that they have nothing planned for the 3DS.

Guess they will switch emphasis from 3DS to PS3/consoles with a Persona 5 unveil rumored to happen any time soon. Still, with this sales i wouldnt be surprised to see even Persona in some for on the 3DS.

How many teams do they have ? Right now they are finishing Shin EO and will probably have EO V out in 18 months or so. SMT x FE and Persona 5. Probably not much workforce left for other projects.

I'm expecting another P3 remake/conversion for 3DS to co-promote the film this fall. Seems like too perfect an opportunity to pass over.

If SMTIV does this well I half wonder if they'll port Nocturne too? I also wonder about non SMT/EO stuff (Radiant Historia, Trauma Center, Growlanser, Vanillaware games, Sting games, etc)? A lot of that might make a good fit for 3DS?

I don't know if it will sell better than EO IV, but there're a lot of chances to sell really well. I think the changes they added (the history, voices, anime cutscenes...) can attract more people into the series.

Question for people living in Japan: has Game & Wario been discounted?
On Amazon it has the standard 20% discount, but maybe it has price collapsed at other stores?

Personally I think it will sell 300-350K LTD. It is releasing too soon after the Wii version. But I thought Luigi Mansion 2 would sell 500k tops so what do I know.
