Hmm, you're right actually.(I thought Kirby Fighters had a retail release at the same time and the digital chart showed both physical and digital?)
So maybe only Minecraft.

Thanks! Didn't know the exact title.
Now, it'd be fantastic if you (or other Japanese 3DS/Wii U owners) could post the 3DS/Wii U only (no VC) All-Time eShop Chart
Wouldnt it be possible to contact Famitsu/Enterbrain and get clearification regarding ther download sales tracking?
For me, unless there is some confirmation around them, i see them as purely estimated sales.
This digital sales come from a monthly retail and digital Top 30 Ranking. That means that if the game doesn't chart in that ranking, there's no way to know its digital sales. So, a game can sell decently digital, but if it doesn't reach the 30 position in that ranking, there's no way to know how well or bad is selling digital.
I see. I have to admit that i was thinking more about the numbers that are reported, if those are accurate or not. There doesnt seem to be any clarification about that. They are also called "estimates".Ok got some clarification
So this means that if it's not in the combined physical+digital top 30 then you won't see the game in the download only list.
Well, Box Boy would have had to average 24k each month, unless it got a ridiculously large spike this month.
Guess we do have to wait on that.
Just not seeing it how though.

Well, sure But the retail sales are also based on real sales data (+ estimates on top of that), while the download charts might be purely estimation. From what i can see, the only way that they can get real sales numbers is by getting them from the publishers, or directly from Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. And if they do that, they should have gotten the exact sales numbers (in other words, no need to estimate anything).Everything in this thread is an estimate haha.
The issue, as you say, is if the methodology used to track digital sales is as accurate as the methodology they use to track retail sales.

I dont, that is the clarification i want to see =) But i dont see why a publisher would say for example "game X sold about 15k" to Famitsu if they are first giving the info. I would assume that the exact number would be given. In that case, it wouldnt be any need to call the numbers as estimated. How do you know they haven't?
Like I said, it'll be good to see the methodology used in order to determine how accurate the digital sales chart is.
Not that much different though...

Anyone think the 2015 Wii U LTD can catch up to the 2014 Wii U LTD on the back of Splatoon? It's only about 12K off so far thanks to Splatoon, Golden Week + Xeno + DQX, etc.
Anyone think the 2015 Wii U LTD can catch up to the 2014 Wii U LTD on the back of Splatoon? It's only about 12K off so far thanks to Splatoon, Golden Week + Xeno + DQX, etc.
Depends on the October bundles. If they're like the 2013 bundles then yes. If they're like the 2014 bundles then it's going to be more difficult
And it didn't need bundles or bomba bins!Incredible, Splatoon might hit Knack's LTD in a few weeks!
So it's just a case of finding out whether Minecraft was a one off and Famitsu don't actually list digital only releases?
Or if Famitsu track digital only releases but they just don't chart?
I'd say the second one is unlikely, but I'd like to see some evidence to back that up as well.
They use their own surveys to extrapolate the data.

I assume Nintendo would likely announce any price cuts/bundles in September around the release of Mario Maker. In Japan, I don't even know what they would bundle at this point, apart from making the equivalent of the 2013 holiday bundle except with Mario Kart 8 & Mario Party or something lol.
Bic Camera Hachioiji is getting prepared for the Fire Emblem Fates release, and is recommending prepaid cards, since there will possibly be some stock problems.
Splatoon remains very popular and the Mario Kart 8 Bundle is being very pushed, due to the Wii U's momentum.
Hmm, you're right actually.
So maybe only Minecraft.

Mmmh...maybe we have the proof that Famitsu's digital estimates could be not as accurate as we hoped. But I need all this year's combined Top 30 for that. These are the two most recent ones.

But I can't find the others, unfortunately.
I spy Taiko Wii U 1 and 2 there below Splatoon. Wonder if folks are paying any attention to those.
Yeah it makes sense. Now I just need to know the context.Yup, as posted above and confirmed by Hiska, the famitsu digital chart is in fact a Physical + Digital chart.
So it is the top 30 of combined physical and digital sales.
An easy example to use is the number 30 spot.
Game A sells 10 units physical and 10 units download.
Game B sell 15 units download only.
Game A takes the no 30 spot because it sold more physical + download combined and Game B does not chart even though it sold more via download.
Make sense? Probably not, my English is crappy sometimes.
eShop rankings, which includes all digital sales, including the download cards. Are you talking about total digital sales or digital sales on the Japanese eShop alone?
This is just listed as "January"

That's it for the year, I think?
P.S. Boxboy is in that second link, with physical sales.
