Media Create Sales: Week 35, 2014 (Aug 25 - Aug 31)

Next week will be the week new 3DS was announced right? So 3DS sales should drop like crazy till October?
ssb launching will mitigate the drop, the about to be old 3ds should get a price cut, so people are bound to buy the 3ds either way, especially with ssb coming for the first time on handheld, its bound to move hardware regardless of the revision.

let's take this outside

10k is way too low. DR3 will have a high attach rate... probably. 10k will happen if X1 sells around 15-20k or something for the month.

Yep, I agree. I think I put something like 20-25k for DR3 on my September Predictions. From the bunch of "new" games (not released in Japan in the last 6 months) it clearly looks like the safest bet. Outside bundles, obviously.

"Finally" Yo-kai watch 2, lost the first spot, even though still has good numbers.
I expected Zelda Musou do perform better, kind of disappointed. Mario Kart 8 keeping doing a great job.

Wii U sales once again in the less than 10k mark, but still ahead of PS4. Hope that Bayonneta 2, which will be out in 17 days, boost the console sales.

Tomorrow, Dragon Quest X will be released on 3DS, looking forward to see, how it will perform ,

So for the folks talking about the Vita, what titles are there to actually expand its audience? I guess how many RPGs does the console have? It's got FFX/X-2 HD, a port of a Tales game iirc, and now Mana? Or is there more I'm forgetting.

Basically I see the Vita right now is:
Hunting Action games (God Eater, Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden, Phantasy Star Nova)
Anime/Otaku games (too many to count)

Minor genres:
Warriors games
RPGs (FFX/X-2 HD being the main one here)

That's pretty much it for the console?

Oreshika. And I don't think Legend of Heroes can really be ignored either (I consider Falcom one of the otaku developers, but it pulls pretty great numbers in).

I agree with you though. Sony needs to start expanding the Vita's audience beyond the genres that are already there. Expanding traditional JRPG's would be a great start.

One thing that I noted now, was the absence o Senran Kagura 2 in the list.
This is pretty sad, it seems that would be the last title in a Nintendo console.

The good about this week, Toukiden has proven the audience has moved away from the PSP onto the Vita. So no more PSV/PSP cross-plats (instead it'll be with the PS4).

I'm not sure that this is necessarily true.

It might also be that PSV audience that bought the original version bought the expansion as well -which usually occurs, see GE, MH and PS expansions-, while those PSP gamers who bought the original version just dissipated, and did not migrate towards PSV, but simply quit gaming, migrate to smartphone, PS3 or 3DS.

Indeed, PSV did not increase a lot week over week.

Here are all the RPGs released at retail, including a few games coming out within in the next month or two (I don't include hunting games such as God Eater 2 or Toukiden).

Ar Nosurge Plus
Eiyuu Densetsu Zero no Kiseki Evolution
Eiyuu Densetsu Ao no Kiseki Evolution
Eiyuu Densetsu Sen no Kiseki
Eiyuu Densetsu Sen no Kiseki 2
Tales of Innocence R
Tales of Hearts R
Mind Zero
Demon Gaze
Exstetra
FFX
FFX-2
Ore no Shikabane o Koete Yuku 2
Atelier Meruru Plus
Atelier Rorona Plus
Atelier Totori Plus
Chaos Rings Prequel Trilogy
Conception II

Dungeon Travellers 2
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2
Meikyuu Cross Blood: Infinity

I might have missed a couple, but it's easy to see JRPGs are a major genre on the Vita.

The first pic...why is there something about 3DS when it's for the Xbox One's line?

...Line...
Trying to fool customers.
Something about Dragon Quest X.

And don't make fun of Microsoft! People didn't line up for Vita 2000 either.

Hardware sales are so bad in Japan that the XB1 could launch with a terrible 30k in the first week and still have a shot at being #1. :p

Btw folks were saying Zelda Musou was about $10 cheaper on the JP eShop? Would be interesting to see if folks bought it there (like DQX or something).

Have we discussed why the 3DS went up this week?

Aug 25 - Aug 31

Medabots was the only new release and n3DS was announced on Aug 29.

Some sort of holiday? Anticipation for Smash or maybe Dragon Quest X?

I excluded Gundam as it's just a logo with zero indication it will be imminently unveiled.

I also excluded Neo Romance as I couldn't really find out anything about it (besides being an otome title) whereas Uta no Prince-sama seemed more straightforawrd.

Crooz is also making an Infinity Stratos mobile game, but we don't have any details yet.

I'll go update some of these when we get more details later.

Felistella is developing Luminous Arc Infinity. They're made up of former Flight-Plan staff I believe.

Tose co-developed RE Revelations 1 so if 2 is being made by the same team then it'd be them too.
