I really don't see a deal even with the discount on Steam. Even Eidos took a better approach with the Deus Ex : Human Revolution Director's Cut. However, that was something that good pc developer don't do. Valve has upgraded the engine on Source games and how many times have they charged for the upgrade? None. CD Projekt Red is the golden standard of how this things should be handled. If you released a new edition, you give that to existing owners as a patch free of charge.

I think the safe bet is to buy 2033 redux and wait on last light or something

Like I said in the steam thread, this is something Metro 2033 needed, it's basically them fixing it, and it's barely an improvement to Last Light on PC.

I really think this should be a free update for those who already own the games on PC (or at least just the DLC price) and make the profit just on consoles, but oh well.
So use/abuse console gamers dollars so PC gamers could get free stuff?

Missed both of them originally. I actually bought the 360 version of 2033 (used), but never played it because of my massive backlog. 1080/60 and a great price? PS4, day 1.

yup

I don't know if we could have that with the Metro series, especially with 2033, which was released under THQ. Sure, Deep Silver has the rights now, but we can't be sure if there's something blocking them from working on THQ's version of Metro 2033 and releasing patches to make that a free upgrade.

Deep Silver has publishing rights, and 4A Games always owned the IP. There's is no reason why this couldn't be a free patch for existing owners, other than greed.

I understand that. But my question is: was Metro 2033 updated to reflect Deep Silver's new publishing rights after THQ sold it? I mean, their logo instead of THQ and things like that? Because what I'm wondering is that they have the rights, 4A has the IP, but they can't update that game because of some legal agreement. I'm not sure of that, of course, just guessing.

Also, yeah, Valve and CD Projekt constantly update their games for free and I'm a big supporter of that approach and I'd want that to happen with Metro too. I'm just giving them the benefit of doubt on the reason why they're charging for it.

Will most likely buy Metro 2033 on PC

Have both, stupidly played Last Light first. Absolutely loved it and one of my favourite games of last year.

Played 2033 afterwards and was basically unplayable. Unoptimised, sound bugs, poor enemy AI, poor FOV, glitches and bugs galore.

Just not immersive but hopefully they fixed these issues with the new version.

Plus I would like to give some money to dev as I got both games for free ( Metro 2033 for free when THQ went bust, was free through there facebook page, and got metro last light free with my graphics card )

AFAIK Metro 2033 isnt available for PS4/XBO, it's a new release there, not so much on PC
Huh? So is Metro LL. So that doesn't really make a difference. Point is you still think Metro 2033 Redux should be a free update for PC gamers because they'll profit from the consoles as is.

If anyone wants these games for the discounted price (25$ for both on steam) let me know and PM me, I have both so I can get the new redux's discounted

Congratz to 4A, they crafted excellent package. I will most likely purchase M2033Redux on PS4 this summer. Never played anything from that franchise.

#1 old version of the game
#2 on probably old drivers
#3 if that shows the framerate of in-game benchmark, you can throw your results to the water. That benchmark is "stress benchmark", it showcases much more stressful scene than it can be seen in 99.9% of the LL.

Here's the M:LL on Radeon 7870 on Ultra visual setting [probably no AA] with "Min-36 Average-40 Max-59".

Wow, from the first information it seemed like this would just be a quick port to the new consoles, but this is sounding better and better with the new info, especially with the discount (even if I find having to pay unfortunate, this seems to be adding a lot at least). As things are I prefer Last Light, but with the gameplay improvements backported I get the feeling the original will become my favourite, and being able to play that game with the far better optimised engine of Last Light will be great as well.

this looks nice. i've never played either game, so i will definitely be picking this up for ps4. now i just need crytek/ea to do the same thing and bring all three crysis games to ps4.

I like Last Light a lot more than 2033, but this will give me an opportunity to play through both again on PC. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners are in for a treat either way, especially when it comes to Last Light, which is one of the better first person shooters to hit the market in the last few years and still one of the most technologically and artistically impressive games available. Great level design and very satisfying hit feedback.

EDIT: The downside of both is the story, in my opinion, which is very intriguing thematically and conceptually but hindered by an often unauthentic sounding dub. I really, really wish games would explore alternative methods of subtitle display when playing with non-English audio. Subs are fine for movies where it's a linear experience and I'm a passenger. Games, on the other hand, I have too much control in, and when you're trying to sneak around and listen to guard chatter tiny little subs at the bottom of the screen just feel wrong.

odd they arent discounting purchasing both. oh well. i'm in for last light and will pick up 2033 if i like what i play. saves me money

Wrong. You're the one being greedy and is apparently part of that want something for nothing gen. This is a new product. If you want the new product you pay for the new product. Otherwise, you can continue to play the version that you already own.

For me I felt that Last Light was far and away the better game. My only criticisms of last light were how silly easy the game was when playing using stealth and the tough to figure out requirements for the good ending. Metro 2033 I felt had an edge in atmosphere though, but was hampered by bad gameplay and broken stealth. Now that those issues are supposedly being fixed I wonder if my opinion will change.

Footage looks great. Started Last Light on PS3 but might hold off playing that further so I can play 2033 properly first.

Looking forward to playing through both in 1080/60 on PS4, with Russian VO and English subtitles of course.

Anyone knows this is worth if if I already have both Metro 2033 and Last Light on +PC? (haven't played last light yet.)

What are the changes for PC? They weren't specific in the press release.

Thanks to Best Buys gamer unlocked club I will be picking this package up for 39.99.... Prob going with X1 version for now.

Great deal on the package and well done by the Pub and Dev on this.

Waited to buy Last Light for this. Thought Metro 2033 was okay but didn't finish. Was totally impressed with its atmosphere at least, which has sold me on getting this port bundle.

This is a good point, but is obviously something tough to fix. I played through Last Light in Russian and absolutely loved it. Yes there were times when I felt ripped out of the moment to check the subtitles, but the net result was a more immersive feeling while playing through the game.

Huge improvements have been made, especially on Metro 2033. The game is essentially completely redone. Really hope you enjoy it!

It’s important to point out that it not only LOOKS better, but since we revamped the gunplay and gameplay features it also PLAYS significantly better. Hope you enjoy!

I wonder what differences there are specifically for the PC version of Last Light vs Redux.

Proper FOV slider? What does "enhanced graphics" mean?
