I think it might reach 100K CCU on Steam, but let's see.

It's the same issue that Netflix and Disney+ have. Direct to Subscription releases just aren't events. Compare how a movie is received when it opens in theaters versus going direct to streaming and that is exactly the vibe that Xbox has created for itself by putting all their releases Day 1 on Gamepass

It's because there's no consumer risk, therefore no stakes, no potential for disappointment. Part of a great game launch is the hope that it will be great.

And hope is about risk - I make a purchase and hope it works out.

With subscriptions there's no risk. So these games come out like farts in the wind even if they're great.

It's on preload for a week and it's going to be advertised so people are aware it's coming out and coming to a service they're paying for. Just was a strange comment.
Just talking from experience of being a long time subscriber and still missing new GP releases occasionally because I prefer Steam. I don’t have the Xbox app open, essentially I open it when I read a post on GAF or X about a new Gamepass release, if it’s interesting. I don’t think I’m an outlier tbh.

But it might’ve been pessimistic to have a 5 mil drop off without opening the app.
If we would go with the same (highly hypothetical!) numbers, 10mil again max as start but only 1 mil oblivious drop and still use 5% that would’ve instantly purchased on Steam it would lead to 450k lost day 1 purchasers.
Then ccu from that, don’t know what’s common there, maybe 10%? 45k lower ccu

The numbers don’t mean much of anything, as we’ve seen with past releases, wait a few weeks then we will know the full picture.

As we saw with veilguard, there is very much a dedicated and passionate audience out there for what they and BioWare have been making, it’s just not overly large, certainly not large enough for a game with a budget like veilguard. Is it big enough for a 50mil budget game? ‘Maybe’. The numbers were currently seeing are the most dedicated, it could fall off very fast thereafter.

When does this go on general sale? I won't dogpile early access.

Once anyone can get it, it becomes worth tracking.
I'm wondering if the population of retards who would pay $90 for Early Access on Steam are exactly the same population who would pay the regular price on release day on Steam. I would like to see a big jump on the wide release date but I don't have that much faith in people.
We'll see.

Subs do damage by preventing users from building game libraries and without a game libraries there's no loyalty or attachment.
It's the difference between breaking up with a GF and walking away from a loving wife, three wonderful kids and an amazing dog.
The huge risk involved with buying games is a bad thing for all parties involved and for gaming as a whole.
If PlayStation had 2hr returns truly great games like SoTC, Chulip and TLOU would have sold far more copies.
Eliminating risk means empowering users to try games blindly without reading reviews or doing research.
The end result is a platform where good games sell, users are happy with every game purchase and every game in their library has given them at least 2hrs of enjoyment.

It's hitting new highs every second now. After all, my man Donkey were all right, about 2000 players got laid last night and now is returning to Avowed
Yeah man and I bet most of these dudes boned again in the morning, made some French toast for their ladies, and now they’re just getting around to Avowed. It might even shatter the 20 Concord ceiling this afternoon or tomorrow.

So I need some help if you don't mind. I have Geforce Now and GP Ultimate this and other articles indicate you can get early access on GeForce Now rather than the $22-23 whatever it is on GamePass. Anyone know if this is correct or how to get it? I don't get an option it only takes me to Xbox to buy the full game or wait for the GP release. I am down for the $10 if that is real, had a shitty day I could use a new game to distract me. https://www.windowscentral.com/gami... paid the extra,on NVIDIA GeForce Now instead.

Mate I think you'll have better chance for your questions if you go the OT thread. 99% of us here haven't actually played this game, lol.

I can see more like 50-60K. Will be interesting to see next weekend.

If Steam reviews are very good then maybe more.
Indy hit like 9k or so in early access and peaked at 12k after it fully released. I swear early access kills the hype of the game. Everybody sees people playing it for 5 days already. By the time it releases, a lot of people, especially popular streamers, have moved on. It does such a disservice to the game and developers, imo

Avowed is not going past 20k on Steam, imo

The Indiana's day before "launch" was 6598

Still find it useless to use ccu for single player games spread out over so many places. Xbox, xbox/pc gamepass, Xcloud, Battle.net, geforce now, Steam. CCU is GAAS daily retention metrics. If other platforms had their CCU open then there could be something to look into but they're not.

i dont think it is useless when you compare to other Gamepass day 1 titles that are similarly everywhere. We know Indy didn't sell well and Gamepass engagement was not great either

Avowed will be fine, mostly because it probably didn't cost more than 40 or 50mil to develop. Indy's budget was surely 100+mil and that is before factoring in the licensing costs of Disney
