Roboute Guilliman finally completed. Took quicker then usual and longer then it should. Lots of learning in the end on this one. Thanks, GW, for this awesome model!
I never played it but maybe Infinity? That has on-foot soldier guys but it also has tanks and mechs and motorcycles and stuff.
Definitely skirmish and "reasonably popular".
Noticed that game actually.
Seems to have a bit too much focus on infantry though i've yet to check the rules.
I was really thinking something that has tanks (or equivalent) as the primary focus and combatant. In a sense, Flames of War fits my criteria except for the setting.
Modern/scifi setting because radar and other electronic sensors and missiles and attach helicopters change ground war from what it was during WWII. Perhaps not fundamentally (it is still one-hit-one-kill) but they add a layer WWII doesn't have.
Team Yankee takes on a 15mm scale what if like modern combat setting, uses the Flames of War ruleset.
Dropzone Commander is mostly vehicle sci combat game that has some popularity and some neat ideas. Dropzone tries to make for more mobile and dynamic battles

My Walking Dead: All Out War board is getting somewhere finally.
from this:
to this:
I'm starting to paint a lot of the scatter elements (traffic cones, trash bags, streetlights etc) at the moment, then I can move onto the building.
Got another small board to build, then a mammoth 3ft x 3ft one which I want to keep quite general so I can move it around a lot.
Anybody else here got experience with building mats like this? I'm a proper beginner so would love some tips.
Lot of TTCombat terrain there! I'm using the same stuff, plus that walking dead terrain set, but for Batman Miniature Game.
can't beat the price of TTCombat really!
I keep wanting to get the really good stuff, but the price is ridiculous. With a bit of love, I think this stuff will be more than good enough for me!
Be great to see your stuff too
I GOT MAGNUS THE RED IN MAIL AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
SHOULD I PRIMER HIM WHITE OR BLACK I ODN'T KNOW
AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HE'S SO FREAKING HUUUUGE
It's official. New 40k edition coming.
Free basic rules.
All models still valid.
All existing codices invalid.

Stop overhauling the rules every couple years and I will be back to the game. Stick to a ruleset with slight updates here and there and I would be happy.
That's the likely scenario. Expect an affordable paperback 'rulebook' updated annually like AoS's "General's Handbook". I think we'll see the end of major revisions in favour of community-feedback curated evolution.
I would be using a white undercoating if I were painting him. He would need to be a bright, standout model in an already bright and garish army.
Damn Android, you've got a whole Kill Team and I've only got three quarters of a single marine finished. Wish I had your hustle.
I feel I still don't get how to thin my paint
How much paint should I use? How much water? Should I do it in a palette dip, and not flat palette?

I wish I could find white primer for non heavy use
Anyways, Skeleton Horde finally arrives!
They're smaller than what I expected. Guess I now know why they call them miniatures.
A good colour for Primer is actually brown primer. You can find it in most hardware stores. It is great as you can make detailed bone by just brushing light bone / while on top of it and then it is also a great base for bronze, rusty metal, wood, etc.
Movement in, intiative gone. WS is now a set roll like BS. Tac Marines are LD7 now, Terminators have 2 wounds.
Man, how do you people decide which set up to go with when a runner has so many variations for a unit? Can't decide if I should go for armored Mr. Skeleton or naked.
I go for maximum variety. Never the same pose twice in one unit if I can help it.
Thought I would drop this here as well:
Unit profile examples for 40k 8th edition.

Here's my finished Ork kill team. Would quite like a Mek and Flash Git at some point though.
But the charging bonus thoyes....yes..... good.
And like that charging units automatically get first attack. Gives incentive to be proactive and mobile, and not just depend on your inflated initiative value to be static
