Maicer Izturis was the least valuable player in baseball? I'm a little surprised...as terrible as he was, he didn't even seem like the least valuable player on the Jays. I guess he played more than most of their other crappy players -- i.e. Josh Thole was worth -.5 fWAR, but he got all that in fewer than 50 games; Ramon Ortiz was also worth -0.5, but he only pitched 25 innings. That said, if you go by bWAR, Josh Johnson was waaaay worse than Izturis, which lines up more with how it looked to me.

Also, we need a WAR stat for managers. It would be interesting to see how many extra wins we have to have to overcome him.

Andrew McCutchen was hit in the head with a fly ball during batting practice on Monday. A teammate distracted McCutchen in the outfield while shagging fly balls. A ball hit off the bat of Jordy Mercer clunked McCutchen in the ear. They said he should be fine. McCutchen refused to name the teammate who distracted him.

Also, Pirates possibly linked to Jose Abreu? Not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, our 1B options at the moment are mediocre at best, but on another hand, he's going to command a lot of money and he's not necessarily a guarantee.
