Q: When does The Monster Hunter Wilds Reviews Drop?
A: Monster Hunter Wilds review embargo drops February 24th, 7 AM PT

8Bit/Digi - Stan Rezaee - 10 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds takes players on a thrilling adventure into a world teeming with monsters and excitement.
Atarita - Seyidcem Öztürk - Turkish - 86 / 100
Monster Hunter Wilds captivates with its sense of progression and thrilling monster encounters, though the combat can occasionally feel repetitive.
But Why Tho? - Eddie De Santiago - 9 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds starts with big hunts and breathtaking action scenes. By the end of the story and beyond, you’ll be hunting even larger monsters with impossibly larger attacks, harvesting materials from their bodies to make stronger weapons and tougher armor.
ComicBook.com - Justin Joy - 4.5 / 5
Monster Hunter Wilds packs a lot of charm and challenge, and is poised to be one of the most robust and content-filled games of 2025.
Console Creatures - Matt Sowinski - 10 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds sets the new gold standard for the series, with epic battles, a fantastic narrative, and gorgeous graphics.
Dexerto - James Busby - 4 / 5
Monster Hunter Wilds is a giant stomp towards a bigger and brighter future for the beast-slaying series. Despite the sluggish pace of its story and a few muddy textures on base PS5, it's clear Capcom hasn’t bitten off more than it can chew.
Digitale Anime - Raouf Belhamra - Arabic - 9 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds takes the series to a new level with a massive open world, advanced combat mechanics, and AI that makes encounters more vivid, all supported by a more engaging story. Despite some complexities in the combat system and quest management, the new additions make the game an enjoyable experience for both new players and fans of the title.
Enternity.gr - Panagiotis Petropoulos - Greek - 9.5 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds has every reason to be Capcom's next most commercially successful game, justifying the hype it's been building for the past 14 months, as well as the reputation that has followed the series since World was released 7 years ago.
EvelonGames - Joel Isern Rodríguez - Kaym - Spanish - 10 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds has successfully redefined the hunting experience with a more vibrant world and refined mechanics. The combination of exploration, combat, and strategy makes it an essential title for both veteran players and newcomers alike. While there are a few aspects that could be improved, the overall experience is exceptional.
Fextralife - Fexelea - 9 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds is a beautiful and addictive entry into the series that brings along polish and clears up some oldschool clutter. An excellent entry point for newcomers to the franchise, its superb gameplay and multiplayer experience will keep veterans entertained for many months to come
Final Weapon - Noah Hunter - 4 / 5
Monster Hunter Wilds is a worthy follow-up to Capcom's most successful game ever. The revamped gameplay is the best Monster Hunter has ever been, especially with additions like the Focus Mode. Beyond performance issues, Capcom went above and beyond in creating a game I find myself unable to stop playing. With a legitimate story mode and numerous tweaks, there has never been a better time to jump into Monster Hunter for the very first time.
GameBlast - Alexandre Galvão - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds represents an ambitious leap forward for the franchise, expanding its universe with a dynamic open world, innovative mechanics, and a level of immersion never before seen in the series. The introduction of the Seikret mount, the new slingshot system, and the Power Duels and Inhibitory Attack mechanics bring strategic depth to combat, making each hunt even more engaging. This new entry in Capcom’s long-running franchise delivers a rich experience, with epic combat, captivating exploration, and a breathtaking setting. Despite the technical challenges, this is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable titles in the franchise, being both an excellent entry point for newcomers and a worthy experience for veteran hunters.
Gameliner - Rudy Wijnberg - Dutch - 5 / 5
Monster Hunter Wilds may not be for everyone, but if you love the grind, it delivers with stunning details, refined gameplay, and new features like the Seikret’s second weapon, Focus Mode, and NPCs for a better single-player experience—making the hunt more thrilling than ever.
Gamepressure - Mateusz Sawka - 8 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds is a good new addition to this long-running series. It takes some bold steps, and although not all of them are moving it in the right direction, the overall experience was still satisfactory. Monster Hunter keeps evolving as a series, and Capcom proves once again that they are the best in this genre they created over 20 years ago.
Gamer Guides - Echo Apsey - 83 / 100
Monster Hunter Wilds offers the best hunting and combat in the series’ history. Intense fights are at the heart of the experience, and the large, open world and its various ecosystem changes are spectacles to see from afar and up close in the middle of a hunt. It is only bolstered by some fantastic audio, music, and feedback as you slash, carve, and batter monsters. However, the game’s characters don’t have enough air to breathe amongst the wider narrative and the lack of pinnacle fights and endgame challenges are a severe downgrade from other games in the series.
IGN Deutschland - Björn Balg - German - 9 / 10
While not as innovative as previous installments, Monster Hunter Wilds successfully builds upon their ideas to create one of the franchise's most robust experiences. A perfect starting point for potential new hunters without diluting what makes it so appealing to veterans.
Just Play it - Aimen TAIB - Arabic - 9.5 / 10
Monster Hunter made a come back with a renewed spirit, preserving it's identity while introducing newcomers to the series, in a brand new, exciting and challenging journey along side your friends, which makes it one of, if not, the best title that represents the Monster Hunter series ever.
MMoinGame - Zebensui Rodríguez - Spanish - 8 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds positions itself as the most complete and accessible entry in the series to date. Although it has some drawbacks, such as shallow dialogues and performance issues on PC, the richness of its world, the variety of monsters, and the gameplay improvements make it a highly recommended experience for both veterans and new players alike.
MonsterVine - James Carr - 4.5 / 5
Monster Hunter Wilds does an incredible job of balancing quality-of-life improvements and a streamlined system with the by design grind-focused gameplay loop. Newcomers will find this entry more approachable than previously, and veterans will find the new combat additions and combos offer plenty of depth to justify a new entry. The constantly changing environments make the world feel alive, and it creates a seamless connection between preparing and initiating a hunt. It's a tad easier than some will like, and the story is bland as hell, but the hunting is great, and at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
Noisy Pixel - Colin Buchanan - 9.5 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds proves that Capcom still owns the subgenre the series has created, by crafting a game that somehow massively improves on its already-incredible predecessor. It brings the franchise fully into the current generation with an expansive open world, gorgeous environments, and even more satisfying action combat.
Reno Gazette-Journal - Jason Hidalgo - 9 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds is another excellent addition to the long-running series, adding new fun mechanics such as Focus Mode that bring life to its stable of weapons. Environments are also larger and feel more alive while confronting the game’s strongest monsters can feel like an epic, movie-worthy showdown thanks to great visuals and music that will make you want to run over hot coals. The game does have occasional performance hiccups and the large maps can be a bit confusing and unwieldy to navigate. The monster count could also be better. Despite its issues, Monster Hunter Wilds represents another step in the right direction, boasting some of the best — if not the best — grounded combat in the franchise plus excellent monster fights. I can’t wait to see how it shapes up after additional updates and its future Master Rank expansion.
Restart.run - Sayem Ahmed - Recommended
Monster Hunter Wilds is brilliant, but suffers from not showing players everything it has to offer until you've stomached the Low Rank portion of the game.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Unscored
A hungry gullet of a game, Monster Hunter Wilds will devour your time if it gets its claws in. But an overbearing story might make you impatient to ride straight to the moreish endgame.
Seasoned Gaming - Alejandro Segovia - 9 / 10
If Monster Hunter World was Capcom's attempt at making their ever-growing franchise more accessible to a bigger audience, Monster Hunter Wilds pretty much perfects it, providing an entry that's sure to satisfy longtime fans and create new ones as well.
SmashPad - Danreb Victorio - 4.5 / 5
Monster Hunter Wilds improves upon World and Rise in just about every aspect, and nuances in gameplay such as the focus strikes will definitely make it more approachable to newcomers, but the best part of the game is that it remains true to the biggest fact of the series--you'll get as much fun as the time you put in.
TechRaptor - Tyler Chancey - 8.5 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it brings a refined, polished, approachable, and unforgettable action RPG experience.
The Nerd Stash - Julio La Pine - 10 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds takes everything that worked from World and Rise to deliver the ultimate monster-hunting experience. Combat improvements, an excellent story, and a giant lineup of monsters make this the hunter haven we were all waiting for.
XGN.nl - Arran Winmai - Dutch - 9 / 10
Capcom took what they learned from years of Monster Hunter and improved upon it in Wilds. The combat feels great, the world is alive and there's lots of fashion to boot. It's a shame you can't display all the creatures you collect, and new players might struggle to get started. But once you're off, there's nothing better.
Xbox Achievements - Richard Walker - 90%
There's no underestimating how massive Capcom's Monster Hunter series is. At time of writing, Monster Hunter: World remains the series...
XboxEra - Jesse Norris - 7.5 / 10
Monster Hunter Wilds has all the tools be an all-time classic but forgets what made the series so special in the first place.

88-89 although could be higher. It is definitely very hyped and previews look good. Shame it's not my kind of game( to be fair, I haven't given the series a fair shake as my MH experience has only been an hour or so I spent on world's beta) but really hope it is good and people who enjoy this types of games love this one as well

I am once again asking that we make these review score prediction polls have more relevance. Most of these options are completely wasted and a ‘below 80’ option would be cover all those bases and still not get voted much. It should be very narrowed down in the places where it is most likely to score, 85-93 or so.

Below 80
80-83
84-86
87-89
90-91
92-93
94+

Would be making a prediction you can actually feel good about nailing. And everyone is still represented. If you think it will bomb and score under 80 (basically no chance) then you get kudos for picking that either way. Wasting four poll slots on 60-79 just seems pointless. Not a big deal at all, just always my first thought when I see these kinds of polls.

Can’t wait for the game, haven’t really done Monster Hunter before, but I’m all in on this one.

There’s a good game underneath there, somewhere. But after trying the beta like 3 times, this game just seems bogged down by surprisingly bad performance on even the Series X, and way too much on the UI and layers of menus. I’ve played every MH since 3 Ultimate, including World, and there’s just something off/missing with this one. I also wasn’t really vibing with how they’ve changed how quests start and controlling/not controlling the Seikret. It just seems like it needs some polish and some more time in the oven, quite honestly. I think I was in a Quest I had started and I looked everywhere but I couldn’t find where to eat a meal. It just seemed like kind of a mess to me, honestly. The Alpha Doshaguma fight was fun, but the field exploration and the settlement downtime was…not seeming great to me.

Will it get deservedly punished for terrible performance?
I played 80 hours of World on Xbox One of all things, because that’s all I had that it was available on. Janky ass 25-30 fps and blurry as hell. But goddamn that game slapped. It was so fcking good I didn’t even care. Playing World on Series X in beautiful 4K/ 60 fps is just the best.

High 80’s, Low 90’s. Guaranteed. Hype is real, people are tired of woke trash and this is pure gameplay, deep systems, great customisations etc etc.

Even though it’s PC mag I guess they reviewed on PS5? Also said the performance was great. That’d be a big improvement from the beta.

Edit:
There were a lot of question marks around the game’s performance during the open betas, but I’ve been playing the full release build including the day one patch, and it ran absolutely flawlessly on my launch PS5. There are three visual modes on offer: Fidelity, Balanced, and Performance. And you can set framerate caps independently from your chosen mode to 30, 60, or uncapped. If you want to run Fidelity mode with an uncapped framerate, more power to you. PS5 Pro players will be very happy with this. 40fps caps are also available if you’re connected to a compatible display. I played through most of the game on fidelity mode, but switched to the performance mode in the latter half, and experienced locked 30 and 60 frames respectively.

I'm guessing 93. I think there will be a few detractors for performance on PC, but I believe PS5/Pro will be considered pretty solid. Refined gameplay with a good narrative and countless hours of replayability, with a ton more content virtually guaranteed. We eatin' good this time, hunters.

Edit:

Good thing they broke an embargo to post that review! It reads like a Reddit comment. You could get this information from reading the back of the box and other people's impressions posted online.
