I'm not mad at NBC, but i'm still gutted (pardon the pun) over this news. I've been a fan of the show since it's inception and I was super excited for it as soon as it was announced.

Hannibal remains my favourite show on television for a long time, and hopefully Netflix etc will give it a shot and hopefully the ratings which it truly deserves ):

I think Snapchat should pick it up. They can deliver the whole series in tidy bite-sized packages.

Just remember to send ALL dismembered body parts to Amazon!

Yeah. If anyone wants to do a big US #SaveHannibal campaign, Amazon is the best target. It doesn't hurt to include Netflix as just an outside bet, but Amazon is the one who's attention we really need.

If it weren't for the Amazon deal, I'd say there's an outside chance. The Killing wasn't wrapped in exclusivity problems when it was revived, so the path was clear. I don't see any way Netflix navigates those waters for what is a relatively small US fanbase.

Oh well I'd be fine with Amazon nabbing it since I have prime anyway

It seems to be the case. They probably didn't want to get the rights to Clarice Starling because of the ratings.
Those rights issues wouldn't be NBC's problem. That'd fall on Gaumont. That's really an entirely different issue and not something playing into NBC's decision.

Is there enough time to plan for a proper ending and not a cliffhanger?

I believe everything's been filmed for some time, so I doubt it. Also, I'm sure the production company wants to keep the door open for a new US distributor.

But if the season is really following Red Dragon, I'm sure this wouldn't be a bad place to stop.

Well, I can't say that I am surprised. I'm not especially worried, though. Even if we don't get a continuation, it won't change my feelings about what we've gotten.

Now Bryan Fuller can finally make my Dream Project

Naoki Urasawa's MONSTER Live Action Series at HBO.

PLEASE

I would adore this. I also really enjoyed listening to Del Toro talk about how he had to work to convince Urasawa that it was a good idea, to the extent that he wrote up an entire framework for the first season to show him. If nothing else, I'd eventually like to see what that plan was.

It won't end up on Netflix. Hannibal has its streaming syndication rights with Amazon. When it goes somewhere, it'll go to Amazon.

I was thinking about this other day. Hannibal's first season is currently available on Netflix in Brazil. I'm watching it there and loving the show.

HANNIBAL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm not sure how I feel about Amazon most likely taking it however. I heard Transparent and that one cop show were pretty good though.

It resurrected Community

It also has the hilarious Other Space. I can't speak to the quality of Sin City Saints however, but the trailers looked good.

I'll take the blame for this. I just marathoned seasons 1 and 2 last week and JUST enjoyed the season 3 finale.

TV is in a dark time right now. Even HBOs offerings are slim. :(

Disappointing, but not surprising. No one was watching it. I tried getting friends to watch it, but the cannibalism was a hard sell.

I bet there are a lot of people out there like me. When I saw a new Hannibal show was coming NBC I KNEW it was going to be shit. There was no way it could be gory or anything and Anthony Hopkins wasn't playing Hannibal. But fuck, this is one of the best shows currently on TV. Just go watch it.

Wut? I've been watchin Hannibal on Netflix...

Amazon has exclusive rights in the US. Netflix negotiates rights in some other territories. Any deal to replace NBC would very likely be US only, so Netflix would still benefit in the international markets because those deals wouldn't change.

Show tanked hard in season 2 and everything I've read suggests they doubled down with even more style over substance for season three, so I'm not in the least bit surprised that they lost even more of their meagre audience.

Expected and depressing. I never bought the "AXN makes it so NBC won't cancel it" theory, it helped sure, but yeah. I doubt it gets a new home too with the ratings it was pulling. Sigh

Is Amazon Prime Instant completely unavailable in Canada? If not, I imagine that it'll air there. If so, those rights would likely be negotiated separately and any Canadian network/streaming service could pick it up.
I have Amazon Prime and they charge the same price as in America but we do not get anything but faster shipping. The TV show service is completely unavailable here. My concern about Canadian networks is that we don't have many. The only ones that come to mind are Global, City TV and CTV. All three of those channels have the same network standards as NBC so if Hannibal gets more explicit, they are out. I can't think of any Canadian channel that airs stuff on the level of FX or AMC other than those channels (which we do have in Canada).
It's likely the same channels that air the show would still hold on to the international rights if they wanted to. Some would. Some might not.

For example, Transparent airs on Shomi in Canada.

.
I guess it could end up on Shomi. Too bad Shomi is trash and is unavailable people who don't have Rogers or Shaw (i.e. me). Canada is such a mess when it comes to TV. :/

We have Hannibal on Netflix in Canada. Do you think this means Netflix can hold onto those rights during the transition? This would be perfect for me and anyone outside Canada who has a VPN!

They lost viewers without seeing the new season. The premier already had a big drop.

Let's say Amazon picked up the US rights to replace NBC. There'd be very little cause to believe anything would change regarding the content or quality. It'd be basically the same situation except without any concern for advertisers. Gaumont would continue producing the show and licensing it to all its partners, and Amazon would present it in the US.

I only made to like s1,ep6 before giving up. Dexter blows it away.

...The fuck am I reading? Season 2 was incredible, best season of anything on tv last year (Including True Detective).

Hopefully someone picks it up, this show is too damn good to die like this. I just wish I could watch the current season without having to deal with the shitty NBC video player.

You couldn't be more wrong if you were deliberately trying to be wrong. I liked Dexter (up to a point) but Hannibal was on a whole another level - especially the first season. You gave up before it even reached its peak.

Worst comes to worst, going by the books, this season would not be a bad one to end on. I still really want Fuller to get the last 2 seasons he'd need to really finish everything and I especially want to see his Silence of the Lambs. I sort of expect the pickup to happen barring something really unexpected. The current funding situation leaves things wide open for a streaming service to buy in.
