I'd thank NBC but I just can't. Sorry.

Godfuckingdammit almighty. Best show ever on television. Above Twin Peaks. Above The Wire. Above True Detective. Masterwork.

I'll always advise people to watch True Detective before watching Hannibal. Since they both follow the same style of bleek, dark and sordid storytelling. But Hannibal makes TD look amateur.

This is a bad post. Amazon is home to one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the season and Hulu is ramping up their originals in a great way under new management.

That and the production is (at least partly) handled by overseas funding. I don't see how any new home would change the look, style or content of the show.

It seems like best case would be a cable channel picking it up, like Starz or AMC, since then it wouldn't have to have any drastic budget cuts. Unless Netflix or Amazon are willing to chip in on the funding in addition to airing it, it sounds like it won't have the same budget it enjoyed for three seasons.

It's probably necessary that they need some sort of American distributor.

No, it's a good post. The world is a much larger place than America. Until Amazon and Hulu learn that, they will remain garbage.

Amazon could do it, but I don't think they are too keen on spending a lot on shows.
Netflix, on the other hand, are known to throw down the big money for shows.

FX or Netflix should pick this up. The acting and writing is superb. I was going to say AMC as well but I think it would be a good fit over on FX but if it wasn't going to make it onto a Cable channel it would have the best chance on Netflix.

Foreign rights would likely be handled by whoever handles them in those territories now. No matter who picks it up, it would be US only rights.

For Canada, NBC was good. AMC or FX are also fine for us. However, Netflix is the best answer for everyone.

You realize that AXN would still have the international rights to the show in territories that Amazon or Hulu is not available in, right?

Welp. :(

The path forward is clear,Netflix or Amazon to pick up Person of Interest and Hannibal.

They would have the primetime game on lock for the next 2-3 years.

Who says no?

Golden age is dying. :(

What's that?

I hope it gets picked up sooner rather than later. Last i read, Fuller seemed really optimistic at its chances if NBC cancellation arose.

I would be extremely bummed out if the show doesn't continue past this season. :(

No, I do not. I've never heard of AXN. So what do you think would happen in Canada, where our only Canadian channels are NBC level in content? If Amazon took it, do you think FX Canada could air it?

Is Amazon Prime Instant completely unavailable in Canada? If not, I imagine that it'll air there. If so, those rights would likely be negotiated separately and any Canadian network/streaming service could pick it up.

Netflix should do it, absolutely. They would have another series with critical praise and Fuller could go all out in terms of gore.

It's likely the same channels that air the show would still hold on to the international rights if they wanted to. Some would. Some might not.

For example, Transparent airs on Shomi in Canada.

Transparent. Don't mess with ivysaur when it comes to Transparent.

.

NBC did what they could, which was a lot. Good on them. Now we're just waiting for a streaming service to pick it up, because it would definitely be a boon for the format of the show and the availability to the fans.

(I never can find these threads fast enough goddamnit)

Wow. This is literally the only show left on television that I watch regularly . Hope it gets picked up by another network or I may just sell my TV after Twin Peaks and The X-Files conclude their run.

The feels right now

Now hopefully Amazon or Netflix....

Not surprising, atleast they didn't mangle this season in an attempt for broader appeal (even if it is a bit up its own ass now).

Eh, I like the way they do it now. It's still disturbing without being explicit.

and classical paintings wouldnt be half blurred out

But this why it needs to happen, so silly.

If I were a betting man.

Best odds - Amazon
Next best odds - Starz, Crackle
Outside odds - FX, AMC, Hulu, Netflix
LOL odds - Yahoo, Lifetime, Playstation

In the US? Very unlikely. They don't need it for the prestige anymore with their current content slate and they'd have to somehow undo Amazon's current deal.

Netflix is going after international audiences hardcore though. I think they make more sense than Amazon, despite the streaming rights issue.

International rights will remain unchanged even if NBC drops. They're negotiated by a separate international production company. Any deal would most assuredly be US only. Netflix could still negotiate streaming rights for a Season 4 in international markets, though. They already carry the show in some places.

They certainly didn't need to revive AMC's the Killing for prestige either. But you're right, I forgot Amazon has the streaming rights for it and Netflix doesn't (at least in the US)

I posted about it in the TV cancellations thread but the rights "issue" is an interesting one;
Amazon has exclusive streaming rights in the US
Netflix has it for various other territories
And then there are all the linear TV channels (most notably the Sony owned ones who acts as co-producers).

One thing that actually speaks for Netflix is that Gaumont International Television (who, if I have gotten this right, is the main player) has a pretty close working relationship with them. (both of their other shows are with Netflix)

If it weren't for the Amazon deal, I'd say there's an outside chance. The Killing wasn't wrapped in exclusivity problems when it was revived, so the path was clear. I don't see any way Netflix navigates those waters for what is a relatively small US fanbase.

Fine by me the series wasn't going anywhere.
I used to love the artistic shots but now they are just overused and feel like fillers.
Next was the way the series started to feel like an NBC soap opera.
