I'm triggered, because God of War @ number 1 is offensively wrong. Rendez-vous in a near-future once the hype machine has died down & people realize its flaws outweigh the positives. Constant repetitive environmental puzzles, backtracking over the same environment again, again & again, excessive pointless loot in a never-ending collectathon marathon which leads nowhere because most of the RPG elements/items are superfluous & repetitive arena battles against samey enemies from beginning until end.

These poll results sadly will have the unintended by-effect that they prove that GAF is predominantly Sony minded.
As for Astrobot and Celeste, well.. thats too close of a call, especially when the winner requires extra gear to play it. There could have been a seperate VR bracket covering all VR games as an introduction to the new medium. If VR would be a success, you could have seperate brackets.
That's just me imo. Wish Crash had a bigger and higher score on the list. cormack12

Awesome job! Though I still disagree with the fact that GoW or RDR2 would ever win an OST award. Outside of that, amazing presentation and I hope you do this next year as well!

I also feel happy to see some Shmup love in the OT. Ketsui lost to Ikaruga? Ah, to be expected.
I encourage any PS4 owner to import a copy of Ketsui Deathtiny [sic]. Exceptional shmup, clean interface, tons of modes including the best practice mode I've ever witnessed in a retail release of a shmup, Bond Develop Mode. If you've ever been intimidated by shmups, this game includes tools and rewards to help your skills improve. It's an incredible achievement, on par with Guilty Gear Xrd's tremendous set of practice tools.

I also do not think citing a result from 12 years ago has any prevalence on the industry today. If anything, Console Wars have changed ever so rapidly.
You may say its nonsense, but its boilerplate logic that people with an axe to grind see those results and make their conclusions there.
God of War was so much better than I expected. It hit on every level - gameplay, story, art direction and pacing. It might be the best reboot (in gameplay, presentation, I realize its technically a sequel to GoW3) I've seen.

IMO Rdr2 has lost title of Goty, because of epilogue, which was very disappointed. To be honest until this moment, it was my and probably many others people, Goty of 2018

Still haven't played RDR 2 or dad of War yet. I was talked out of the latter by my cousin, who was a bit underwhelmed after the hype. I don't care at all about spiderman so that won't work for me.

Dude, you're too literal in your interpretation of my post, i.e. I posted "I quit" flippantly. Considering I just preordered Resident Evil 2, I'm not exactly really quitting AAA gaming. As for God of War, this was from my playthrough when I beat the dark elf boss:
On "give me a challenge" difficulty, spam square for Atreus to do all the damage & just stand back with Kratos & avoid all damage. That's not good combat.
On that list I have played Hollow Knight and God of War. Both were great and solid GOTY-contenders so no objection there. I hope I can catch up with some of the rest of the games, such as Octopath, Dragon Quest, Spider-Man and Detroit.

To be fair most of the singleplayer games I´ve played can be broken in a similar fashion especially when you get down to the nitty gritty of speedrunning tactics. Just as a random example, anyone familiar with Resident Evil 4 could just casually run past 90% of the enemies and kill every boss with a single rocket, but that doesn´t mean that the core gameplay is bad.
