Fake trailers are a plague on YouTube. Only going to get worse with AI.
Had I bothered to even look at the view count and channel I would’ve realised immediately. But the quality of the trailer honestly looks good, not sure what assets they’re using to make it look authentic but I’m not going to lie, I’d watch that show lol.

I gave it a like anyways for how well done it is. Most fake trailers are obvious within ten seconds, that one had me going. Having Boba Fett pop up though was a dead giveaway of fakeness, along with the oppressive tone for a kids movie.

It’s a good edit, to be fair!

Really is, they seemed to be careful to avoid using anything too well known in terms of shots that would tip people off instantly.

I remember one fake live action Teen Titans trailer from years back a friend showed me, and for Beast Boy they just took a bunch of shots of Caesar from Rise of the Planet of the Apes and colored him green. “Shockingly”, some people knew that movie well and realized something was amiss, LOL.

I nominate ManaByte ManaByte to bring back the Wkd Box Office threads. Until then he is a Disney shill. 🫣

An unbiased thread would be appreciated.

It’s especially noticeable how some people here will dump on Disney and make threads about movies that underperform and claim that pretty much all Disney films these days are doing badly, but get REAL quiet when a movie of theirs is going quite well (I notice there was no Inside Out 2 thread for example despite it easily being the highest grossing movie so far this year). Particularly when Pixar’s Elemental released and did badly at first, bunch of people here were laughing their asses off, but then when the film made an unexpected comeback and ended up doing quite well, oh man, then it was nothing but the sound of crickets from those guys.

Well I really miss the box office threads, was always nice knowing what was performing well, beating expectations or tanking. It also generated good discussion on what people were seeing that week. I might create the thread tomorrow if ManaByte ManaByte doesn’t want to. 👀

X user found it at Hobby Lobby. Shows the kid cast and the droid (Jude law is in silhouette). It's a group of kids who find a ship on their planet and it takes off while they're exploring it. They get lost in space and it's assumed that Jude Law is who helps them get back home (he's a Force user). It's like a combination of Explorers and Goonies set in Star Wars from the director of the last Spider-Man trilogy.

Set in the same era as the Mando shows.

It doesn't look appealing to both boys and girls.

I could go for some Star Wars themed Space Goonies.

If they're sharing viewer-ready preview pics that aren't behind the scenes stuff a trailer can't be that far off.
Speaking as child of the 70s and 80s it does sound like something I'd like. Could it please just be good?

I actually think this has the potential to be good. It’s an original idea, and it seems to
Have actual talent behind the camera.

Disney should de-canonize the sequel trilogy (make it star wars legends) and hire back george lucas to re do it

Why? They made his Episode VII (TLJ) and people hated it and contrary to false narratives, a lot of stuff from his outlines made it into TLJ and TROS. This is what I said earlier in the thread. People have made up myths about George to fuel narratives and don't want to hear the actual truth that we got a lot of what he planned for the ST while discarding stuff people would've rioted over like the Midichorlians. People are memory-holing the "George Lucas raped my childhood" rage over the Special Editions and the hate he got over the Prequels. Hell, the guy who wrote the first draft of Rogue One used to post here and he came here and edited all of his "fuck George Lucas" posts once Lucasfilm hired him.

One of those myths is that they "threw out" his outlines. And that is 100% true when it came to The Force Awakens, but a lot of what was in his outlines made it into the other two movies with the bulk of it and the core story of his Episode VII becoming The Last Jedi (although his hermit Luke was even MORE crazy and modeled after Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now).

George's Episode VII was about a young girl, at the time in his outlines named "Kira" (Daisy Ridley filmed for a few weeks as Kira until they found out they couldn't trademark that spelling of the name, it came back in Solo as "Qi'ra") but also went by Winkie and Taryn at times, who spends the entire movie trying to convince a hermit Luke who went into hiding years ago due to failing the "Jedi Killer" (who was seduced to the Dark Side by Darth Talon from the Legacy comics) to come out of hiding.

Lucasfilm went into extensive pre-development on Lucas version of TLJ before JJ Abrams was hired. Lots of concept art was done, which got Lucas' approval, and Michael Arndt was writing a draft of the script. When they hired JJ Abrams he threw all of it out and decided to do a remake of ANH instead of George's Episode VII. Michael Arndt's story credit on TFA is due to the Luke stuff that came from his draft which was based on Lucas' outline for EpVII.

A lot of this concept work from his Episode VII was officially published in the Art of The Last Jedi hardcover book in 2017.

When JJ was out, then Johnson picked up the Lucas story of EpVII. The sunken Death Star ruins in TROS came from early Lucas stuff and concept art done when they were developing his Episode VII.

Rey, Finn, and Kylo existed in the Lucas version, although with different names. Poe is a combination of two different characters. There was no Snoke, it was Darth Talon. Rey was always going to be a nobody who took on the Skywalker name, inspired by Lucas raising three adopted kids.

The Last Jedi is the best of the Sequels because it's the closest you'll get to Lucas' Sequels. Which is why he liked that one when he railed against what JJ did with TFA:

He also liked Rogue One because it was John Knoll's idea. He also liked Solo because that movie was developed by him before he sold Lucasfilm and it was him who brought in Kasdan for it. It was also directed by his friend and he himself directed a shot in the movie. George never read the novels but he liked comics and he bought all of the original artwork from the Marvel Han Solo comic.

Another flop incoming. I'm looking forward for the youtube reviews. They certainly will be entertaining if they are like the Acolite. Can't wait!

sure, let's forget that people hated every star wars thing he did after the first trilogy, how he “improved” the old trilogy with new exciting effects and how people hated the prequels so much that jake lloyd went crazy & ahmed best almost killed himself because they got bullied so hard.

btw George would've milked the franchise with TV shows too, it was always one of his dreams, it was just too expensive at that time. That's why he made Clone Wars, and production of it still cost him several millions.

ManaByte going from one Disney ConsoomSlop to another to start hyping it up for the rest of us.

How about taking Evilore's advice and not come into a thread dissing the thread creator and pre-hating something you've never seen.

I get it, a lot of y'all have not liked Star Wars stuff ... A minority of you haven't even liked Mandalorian... But coming into a thread that is basically ONLY about information since no one has seen anything just to pre-hate it is lame AF and childish.

Yup in 2009 he had 50 scripts for Star Wars Underworld written but it couldn't be produced because the technology wasn't there yet.

He also had Seth Green and the Robot Chicken guys (he loved the SW Robot Chicken episodes) produce 39 episodes + 60 additional scripts for Star Wars: Detours, which Disney won't release.

Fine. I was going to start doing the wekend Box Office thread, but if this is how this place wants to be, never mind.
Look, you're right - no need for me to drive by this thread or your posts. I don't have anything against you doing what you are doing, i'm more fed up and frustrated with the general state of entertainment and it poura over to my posts from time to time.
Peace Mana!

Didn't read the post untill after.
Regarding the rest of your post: i, like many more, am fed up with the quality of streaming, Disney, Star Wars and the movie entertainment sector in general. The slop pour for so long that more and more people are jaded.
I don't hate on Mana, i even wrote that i over reacted. HOWEVER! If crap is crap i am not going to stand on the side of the billion dollar corpo and promote the next upcoming thing, cause "it might be better". Better to flop a few projects to project disdain to the entertainment.

Oh man, imagine if George would've been able to release it.

Man that is a lot of words just to inform someone that their opinion is invalid. This wall of text is basically irrelevant because it fails to accept that

1) Believe it or not some (many) people think George Lucas would be better than Disney, taking fully into account all of his past screw ups. Trust me, NO ONE forgot Phantom Menance and Episode II iT fe3Ls Lik3 S@Nd.

2) Even if they did reuse some of George's ideas, who cares? We ended up in a different timeline that produced different films than he would have. Perhaps, George would have executed these ideas in a way that added up to some sense thematically, despite other flaws, as he did in PT.

Your response to everything is "no you're wrong because you are misinformed and don't know these facts". Dude we know. It doesn't matter. Here's our opinion. Deal with it.

There's plenty of people who liked The Acolyte. Or any of the other shows. We don't all have to like the same things. My point was the dissing of Manabyte... It's tired and lame and unnecessary. It's almost to the point of bullying with some posters.

Anyways ... Frankly I wish they only had movies and not these short sub-30 mins episode shows. The Mandalorian and Andor are the exceptions.

I agree. Coming directly into the thread just to harass is lame. But he also sort of asks for it with the way he consistently reacts to differing opinions and that doesn't reset overnight. As has already been said it goes both ways. If someone thinks the new poster looks good, that means someone can also think it looks bad. Even though it's not out yet. This opinion shouldn't really be a wall-of-text punishable offense to educate you on how misinformed your views are. It's insulting -maybe it's just your informed view lol. Of course someone is going to joke about this consistent behavior.

We can all do better.

This is from the production of Detours (it's a joke). I wish we got that show:

I think pushing it as "Goonies in space" is gonna backfire. Having an adult with the kids ( and a jedi no less) already drives it away from a goonies template. I'm guessing they will find a macguffin on their planet and either be kidnapped and escape or be forced to flee, either way they are hunted for the macguffin. Having an adult along for the ride (unless he dies or separates early, maybe they are gonna pull a carrie ann moss move) fundamentally changes the dynamic away from Goonies-style "us kids are in it alone" IMHO

You can't be lost in the star wars universe as presented by Disney, any trip just takes a day at most. So they presumably go on a treasure hunt rather than turn over the macguffin to authorities for 'reasons'. Those reasons are likely because the area authorities are former imperials and the macguffin is something related to reempowering them. So they ar ethe ones hunting the kids or are at least in league/sympathetic to the 'bad guys'.

So it's more "coming of age" than anything specific to the Goonies. The humans learn to not bully the alien kid just because he is different, the blonde girl learns to overcome her disability and the others accept her, the human boy and one of the girls kiss after an awkward courtship, but then she stops and says "i just see you as a friend" and the boy has to mature into someone 'worthy' of her. All classic coming of age plot beats, we'll see how it plays out.

Jude will be a surrogate father figure for some/all of them, maybe he's even the secret dad/uncle of the blonde, surely he has a loss of his own, probably a padawan who died in the temple. But why stay hidden after TWO Death Stars are destroyed?

I would have preferred a "Stranger Things in Space" pitch with a kid who is force sensitive, but has no guidance, that has to rely on a group of friends to solve some local problem without much help from adults. They can grow and learn together as each one gains skill in some classic star wars aspect (force, mechanics, piloting) to be more of a boy centered fantasy as they overthrown some bad adults behind the backs of the clueless 'good' adults. Not sure how well they are gonna pull off a kids show trying to hit both boys and girls, it usually resonates with neither when they try.

Lucas is a pretty funny guy.

He's making fun of the fans in the second video. George didn't like Mara Jade and that Luke got married. He never cared enough to stop licensing from using her in stuff because he was too busy making the Prequels, but Luke being married to anyone was something he didn't like and Zahn was who created her.

Star Wars Goonies? Missed opportunity to have it set in the Star Wars Obi-Wan prequel-originals interlude cinematic universe. The Star Wars Goonies of course, under the leadership of Young Princess Leia, would be of course foiling interstellar bounty hunters looking for a treasure or whatever. This would also be a good way of establishing her leadership credentials for when she leads the Rebellion and the Resistance, but apparently not so much why she didn't seem to lead the New Republic real good or anything.

Think about it, we could also introduce Young Young Han Solo. A young young scruffy looking nerf herder boy from the country. That way there can be a somber moment in the finale where for some reason Leia's good friend Han uhhh... bonks his head or something and then wakes up on Corellia with amnesia for some reason.

See, that kind of clever 'tying-it-all-together' will add a layer of complexity when you rewatch the original trilogy where now you know that Leia actually recognizes Han and her nerf-herder insult is like a way of expressing her love that persisted from childhood, but she still can't remind him of what happened in that Goonies finale because then.. I don't know, a super secret sith or something will appear and kill him, or whatever. The point is it's both tragic and touching.

So precocious. So adorable. So Goonies.
