Skimming the boxscore, Lions had over 500 yards and still lost. But killed themselves with 5 turnovers (4 Int and a lost fumble). Wash had 0 turnovers.
We knew the Lions D was banged up, but they beat other supposedly good teams during the season when they were even more banged up. So I don't really buy the injury excuse.
Look at the play calling and execution offense. 5 turnovers. Only 14 carries for Gibbs who was carving up the weak Commanders run defense. Opening the game with Montgomery who is coming back after an extended injury absence. Trusting Jamo to play QB. Dumb.
On defense, they needed to either get some pressure with their blitzing (which wasn't happening at all) or try something else (they didn't). Also, ya know, not having 12 guys on the field at a crucial moment probably would have helped.
Just a terrible game from the coaches and coordinators. Hopefully Ben Johnson and Aaron Glen locked up their HC money before last night because they looked like absolute clowns in prime time with the whole country watching. Good luck to whoever bets the next 3-5 years on them.
