Trump promised tariffs and he won the election months ago. I pretty much put all the blame on Nintendo for not rushing production sooner. Even if the software wasn't ready they could have shipped it barebones and just had a massive day one update.

It has the appearance of a non-gamer saying to a gamer "well I wouldn't worry until we see what happens" meanwhile it's Concord. People who know the first thing about gaming snicker which you handwave away as "nonsense" because you saw the PR statement. Let me remind you, game companies don't tell us what to like, we decide what we like and let them know by buying it after using our own thoughts and beliefs, not on command of Herman Hulst. Perhaps this would work if you were completely hapless in games and needed a charismatic source to recommend your first one. A person in this situation would probably be smart not to lambast gamers as crazy for seeing a bomb coming.

Anyone with sense or eco 101 class who supports this is covering their real take for some other motive, perhaps embarassment.

By the time Trump's plan doesn't work the world economy is already fucked and our allies hate us. (It has already caused irreversible damage especially to America, but the goalposts keep moving, so we will never actually get there, we'll just parade one perk in front of a dumpster fire and call it a win). If the only way to prove something is a bad idea is by trying it, and all arguments to the contrary are scare tactics, then we are back to the world of finding out which plants are poisonous by eating them.

But ok sure, eat a plant to see if it's poisonous. A Greek guy stops you with an index built upon for centuries, but it's Greek to you so you can't read it. They offer to read it for you, to save you from having to find out. But you don't trust him enough to tell the truth and decide you have to find out on your own anyway -it might even give you super strength. You don't even bother to ascertain the credentials of the man or the book, you just wanna find out! Well, that is certainly a choice.

Not really. In California the poorer you are and more kids you have, the more government funding you get. Also if you can prove that you have some sort of disability you can get paid for that too and these days, the bar is very low for what can be considered a "disability".
 
I mean they ask (children) chinese to litteraly soldier chips on motherboards and put them on cardboxes. can't we do that ourselves? Couldn't robots do it? How did we let that happen?

Should we depend on US instead? The thing is the big powers run the show, and are everywhere in the world, only defending their national interests.

Trump administration is trying to do what they think is the best strategy for US to still be the #1 going forward, simple as that.

I agree. Nintendo knew 100% this was coming & a possibility since last Spring I mean he was steamrolling every primary. I suspect 1st parties weren't ready. I feel like they could've released it here early or worked out a deal to exempt so many units.

If the price goes up at all I'm not buying it right now.

At that point PS5 or Series X is the same price & both of those could get cut to $400 any time. That was why I was shocked it was $450. Sony & Microsoft could undercut them.

That makes no sense. Suppose they ramped it up and sent 5 million to US. After launch is done how do you feed the market? You cannot make the 50 million the market will need through lifetime in 6 months, that's ridiculous.

Focus on having 6 months worth of inventory for the US market already sitting in warehouses in the US. Then when the tariffs are officially announced shift US production to the country with the lowest tariffs. They would have 6 months to transition production while still having stock for the US market.

I'm not a logistics expert but I know Nintendo has $14 billion in the bank and could probably afford to hire one.
 
I will add it feels like Nintendo is being reactive rather than proactive. It is possible there was nothing they could do. Nintendo is also one to bury their heads in the sand over certain things or say "shoo now go away".
 
People really need to stop reacting to Trumps whatever, the man is on a roll making everyone go crazy, I've seen many politics/economics youtubes post a video analyzing Trump latest movement like 20 min after Trump already changed his mind, they want to be "the smart guy" but all they do is be left a clown. People should not react but be calmed and wait instead.
