Me: Hey, why haven't my order ship. Item release out today.
CS: Sorry, we're really busy. Your item will ship out tonight and arrive by tomorrow.
Me: You sure?
CS: I'm sure.
Me: Really sure?
CS: Really sure.
Me: Really really sure?!
CS: Really really sure!
Me: Really really REALLY sure?!?
CS: Yes I'm REALLY sure. Hey, let me extend your prime membership for another month for the trouble.
Me: Oh cool thanks!
Literally as soon as I was on the phone with the nicest lady I got a text notification directly after the call that my Switch has shipped. NY here. Coming tomorrow via Amazon's carrying service. She explained the entire situation to me. It's not Amazon's fault. It's Nintendo's. She said the supplier was delayed in sending the units to Amazon and on top of that, UPS/USPS can't proceed further without the details of the item if the supplier doesn't even provide with specifics.
It's not Amazon's fault. Not this time.
Amazon offered a partial refund and the new delivery date is tomorrow by noon. NYC area. Eh
My shipping hasnt been updated but Amazon refunded 20% so I can live with that. I was told monday at the latest but hopefully it comes by tomorrow.

Yeah-well basically I mentioned that I had just renewed my Prime membership and that they should have updated my shipping estimate rather that leave it as is, because I could have purchased another via Prime Now. After that, they offered the 20% .

It's 8PM and still at 'Preparing for Shipment'. I sent an email this time since it seems chat isn't able to provide accurate info.
If you get lucky. It seems the majority of the time they only offer an additional month to prime and occasionally with a $5 credit. Unless you know you're going to order something during that month, the additional month of prime is basically useless.
Same situation for me. All the rep said was that I would get an email telling me what I already know.Amazon shit the bed on mine.
Half hour with a quasi fluent English speaker revealed to me that it's not coming tonight but "don't worry you will receive an email telling you it is not coming tonight"
I care less about the console than the appalling and unusual customer service.

note: i got 4 of everything aside from wii u botw (master edition and special editions combining for 'four') because they're going to a coworker who didn't get a chance to preorder and family.
So now I'm getting a pretty good guarantee from a call from Amazon to follow up on my "Credit Card Complaint". They are refunding my Prime for the year ($90) while keeping the service. They are also guaranteeing that it will arrive tomorrow, probably even early in the day.
This time I trust them.
how many calls did it take before you got lucky enough to get someone willing to do this?
I don't feel like being angry at someone who is half a world away in India who had nothing to do with this fuck up.
Offering a free month of Prime a service that did not deliver today is meh but a Year is nice
I went through my credit card company and got them to call.
I did have complaints on more than just this Switch order though.
Who bought through amazon and had it shipped today through USPS and is supposed to get it tomorrow? Has your USPS tracking been updating?
