Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth stands as one of the biggest titles of 2024, and is nominated for multiple Golden Joystick Awards, and Game of the Year (among other awards) at this year's Game Awards.


The second chapter of the ambitious Remake trilogy, fans have been curious as to whether they can expect any DLC in the same way the team at Square Enix added a new chapter dedicated to Yuffie when it brought the first part to PS5.


As part of a wide-ranging conversation with the game's director Naoki Hamaguchi, we asked if fans can expect anything similar with Rebirth and were told not to expect any expansions - but for a very good reason.

We know that but IMO it’s a mistake. While the game might not have sold how Square hoped, the overwhelming majority of people who played the game loved. I think they’d have a pretty high % sell rate of any story DLC they released.

Good, just release the third party as quickly as possible.
There's no point in losing time with a filler episode that delays development on the conclusion.
