Well brother, I just found this on AliExpress:
39,75€ | IINE Horizontal Stand Compatible With PS5 Slim Disc&Digital Edition Easy installation Anti-Slip Anti-Drop Stand

...although there's no way in hell I'm spending 30+ for some cheap and untested Chinese plastic thingamajig...

Fuuuuuuuuckkkkkk
There are cheaper ones on Amazon with an easier return process. I know the bottom plates are supposed to be the same but if the clearance is off it will rock a bit and probably be louder when the disc spins. Nevermind the one I linked.

Damn. That aliexpress one looks cool. I'm going to see if they have those on Amazon

These system for people who have money to burn.

For me I can’t justify spending close to $1000 for slightly upgrade version of a console I already own and doesn’t come with basic feature like a fucking disc drive.
Honestly....I just wanted the usb cables and the controllers....at any rate I still feel:

yeah it sucks rn.
I got my disc drive 2 months ago the day pro was announced. I quickly snagged one for retail price... and the stuff I've seen happening since is crazy. Even media markt is scalping these for like 250$
I retardedly did not buy one because didn't want to have one of those in the way until the Pro were to come out. Here I am, with a beautiful Pro with no drive.

I preordered the drive from 2 different retailers and hopefully will get at least one within a month. It's alright, I don't have any physical games I want to play right now so I can wait, but it's absolutely ridiculous.

Did a similar thing :D

So far i like it playing Alan Wake 2 and pssr is nice but motion stability is an issue but i assume it will be fixed and most pssr implementations dont have this issue.

Good upgrade over base but that shimmering and laggy controls ;/

4 hours and 30 fucking minutes to transfer 530Gb of data over LAN so not much is going to happening tonight in terms of gaming. I'm wondering if it would just be quicker to download the games again as I have most of them on disc lol.
Not got an external SSD?

If its on an M2 you could put it in the pro, then copy the games, and put the m2 back in your original ps5

that sounds like it sucks.
I moved all my screenshots to usb c thumbstick, games to m.2 before taking it out of base ps5 and saves to cloud
so it was all quick and easy

Is it hard to install the disc drive? Can I install the disc drive before hooking the system up? Do I need PSplus to transfer my saves over without a external drive?

Disc drive was super easy, instructions are in the console manual itself. Yes you can install the drive without hooking up the system. I installed the disc drive then plugged the console in and booted it up.

Transfering saves is likely easier with PS+ as they are cloud based (check they are there though first!). I transferred everything via ethernet transfer in the system menu and that didn't require PS+.

UPS just delivered mine. I took it out of the box and attached the disc drive. Won’t have a chance to set it up until later. I’ll probably start with Diablo 4 and Ratchet & Clank.

Impressions so far: looks like a normal ass console instead of the giant monstrosity that is OG PS5. Still ugly but less so.

Kinda retarded that they’d design a console with a curved bottom that needs attachable feet just to sit horizontally. But I prefer the minimalist transparent feet over that big black cylindrical stand of the OG PS5. And they feel sturdier than they looked in the pictures.

I’m really not a fan of PlayStation’s packaging with the flimsy ass easily-torn outer box + sturdy inner box.

I'm getting pretty bad download speeds right now, Im assuming the network is getting hammered.

Other than that I'm super impressed, I've only tried NMS VR and Kayak VR so far.

NMS VR looks almost twice as good, it's insanely impressive.

Kayak VR looks quite a bit better as well.

I can't fucking wait to see GT7 VR after the patch comes out.

I saw your comment on this before and honestly this is thread-worthy or at least a bump to an old Portal thread. I haven't tried yet but I will later.
Yeah, I think Portal is getting ignored. Understandable, but I think Pro does a really good job improving performance on Portal.

It doesn't solve some of the RP issues, like those frame stutters, and it obviously also depends on you connection, but just being able to have stable 60fps with much crisper visuals does change a lot for experience.

Been playing my ps5 pro most of the day.
My thoughts:
- smaller than expected. Not that big of a console.
- I'm coming from PS4 pro so first time I also see ps5 in action : SSD does wonders, so fast. Gone are the huge load time. That's really great.
- UI is snappy and enough straightforward for me good.
- I tried astro's playroom. It was a little shock. The dualsense is fucking amazing, love this controller 🎮. IQ is really mind-blowing. 4k / 60fps makes it a real looker on my new 75 c89b miniled. And loved the game globally. Finished it today by the way.
- then I tried a few demo :
* Sea of stars : was not expecting this one. It grabbed me. I'll buy the full game
* SF6 : there is a promo of the deluxe edition but waiting for black Friday to check the deals.

Basically, I'll have to change my purchasing habit because prices on PSN are through the roof for old games. I'll need to plan and look for sales.

All in all, excellent experience up to now. In all honesty, I don't know why I would like a gaming pc over this. 4k / 60 FPS with decent geometry and lighting is plenty enough for me with couch gaming.

I am disappointed with the fan noise (less coil whine though) and also the menus are slow to load, is it the PSN? Weird.

Other than that I played 5h of TLOU Part 1 on Pro mode and it looks and feels nice.

My launch ps4 pro was the kettle lead one and it was SO loud. I ended up selling it and buying rhe death stranding limited edition because that was the improved power draw with just a figure 8 cable. That wasn't too bad. I don't think it really made any noise.

At normal price.
It's wild they're sold out again. I wasn't planning on buying a Pro, but then I saw Sony Direct (US) had them in stock again and just bought one on a whim. Then proceeded to pre-order the Pro cause what the heck am I gonna use it for? Hopefully Sony are making more as we speak and will ship them out soon.

I am a single dude with disposable income who plays video games as his primary form of entertainment AND is a graphics whore.

Sony did a very poor job of giving me a reason to justify purchasing a PS5 Pro.

Maaaaaybe I'll pull the trigger if there is a sizeable performance boost for GTA VI over what my PS5 can do.

A single guy with disposable income and a graphics where and 400 is too much to have the best graphics on any console for next 3-4 years?

Wonder if there's something like fan lottery out there cos mine is inaudible and my slim is pretty loud.

Initially surprised at how small the console is and also how flimsy the packaging is.

So I've been testing it for most of the day and yeah it's pretty impressive what it can do to some clunky ass looking performance modes.

FF7R looks native 4k60 which is transformative and really shows what it can do for IQ.

Stellar Blade is similar the performance mode now looks sharp and and has a different look to it it looks native and runs at 80fps.

Horizon doesn't use pssr but turns the 30 mode on base to 60 and naturally looks incredible sharp and the IQ is impressive.

Motorfest is transformative. In 60 mode on base it's proper merky and the fsr is an absolute mess. On the pro like the other games it looks native 4k at 60 and looks like an actual next gen console.

SPider man is also impressive it looks native 4k and runs like a dream the fidelity modes in these insomniac games runs unlocked as well and it looks like 50/60 fps on vrr displays.
.

Overall I'm very impressed it's absolutely worth the investment especially if you sell your OG.

One thing worth noting is that some games labelled as ps5 pro enhanced aren't patched or haven't recieved one yet like GT7 which isn't patched yet but runs native 4k120hz.

Same for Fifa you get 60fps menus and cut scenes.

COD isn't patched yet so runs as it would on a base ps5.

I have a 4090 × 7800x3d rig and the main thing here is your closer to that not the same and you have a console experience which is of course a million times better than windows. It's enough to make me consider buying my games on ps5 over pc.

pssr is an absolute game changer for consoles and when devs settle on a way of using it the best way it will really sing.

I’m happy with my purchase. I have more than enough in the backlog and once GTA6 and that inevitable RDR2 patch or remaster, I’m set for a LONG time. Unless the software starts rolling out I would be happy to skip launch of next gen depending on circumstances.

GT7 looks really good and it’s not even patched yet 🥹

Love it so far. Playing The Last Of Us 2 at the moment. Playing call of duty Warzone ( doesn’t have a patch yet) seems like the pop in is almost all gone. Kind of surprising. Does seem a little smoother. Can’t wait to see what the patch adds !!

There are levels of whoredom, I suppose, and I have a gaming PC.

Demons Souls and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would be cool to see on the Pro, but I'd rather invest/save the $400 at this point. My PS5 is basically a COD and free monthly PS Plus game machine. The rest, I play on PC.

But, yeah, GTA VI might get me to pull the trigger.

Some early gameplay on Dragon's Dogma 2. Here are some comparison shots. Not the best game for either PSSR or DLSS honestly. On PC, there is horribly shimming on the shadows of plants and trees. Extremely distracting. Can't see it in the pictures, but it is pretty bad. On PSSR, if you look at the first image where she is standing next to water, there is some ghosting around her where the water is in the background.

Standing next to waterfall. Didn't do a great job lining that one up for both

Different time of day is affecting the lighting of these a little as well, I think. Not sure why they are at different times at the very beginning though.

How the games perform in the city will be more interesting, I think, but image quality wise I could see myself playing either of these versions and not thinking twice about it if not for the the shadows issues on the DLSS version.

It doesn't feel premium at all. The UI feels a bit clunky, the animated backgrounds run at 30fps which is just wrong in my opinion and entirely distracting.

It will be worth it in 2025 when games utilise the power better, I would really love to see more games hit 60 with 4K upscaling and the full feature set normally reserved for a "30fps graphics" mode.

Like I've said already in other posts. Dragons Dogma 2 is great on the Pro, my other tests have been underwhelming but I'm going to look at some more titles today. I still stand by my 6/10.

Question lads :
I'm noticing the console's light strip to be not as bright - or shall I say, less visible compared to my OG PS5 - is this normal or is my light strip borked ?
Maybe it's the same with the slim consoles ? The lights don't run all the way to the right side of the console like on the OG PS5

PS: I've the intensity set to "bright" btw

Mines a bit loud but I had just been playing horizon remake in 120 hz mode for 2 hours.

Down load speed sucks right now on psn so gonna take a while to give it a proper test.

I love gaming on the ps5 fat but godamn is it a pos when it comes to cleaning and moving it around. Also having trouble ejecting the damn ssd I installed in it.
The pro looks sleek af and light on the scales.
