- Total: $842 million (Up 1% from $838 million in April 2018)
- Hardware: $160 million (Down 29% from $225 million)
- PC and console software: $427 million (Up 15% from $370 million)
- Accessories: $256 million (Up 5% from $243 million)
- Mortal Kombat 11 became the 2nd best-selling game of 2019 year-to-date
- Mortal Kombat 11 was the best-selling game of the month on all platforms on which it released
- Mortal Kombat 11 is the first time a 3rd party published Switch game was the platform's top seller since Mario + Rabbids
- Switch sales growth was offset by declines across all other hardware platforms
- Switch was the best-selling hardware platform of both April as well as year-to-date across both unit and dollar sales

Happy with this. The game isnt upto Uncharted, GOW or Horizon standard, but its also not a 4 or 5/10 game like some reviews said. Plus i was getting a little annoyed at seeing the constant 'no one likes zombie games anymore' posts which had no basis in reality, and Days Gone and WWZ have shown that.

Such a simple idea that, somehow, no one thought of: make a third-person open world zombie game with great production value.

It's only like the second biggest sci-fi genre, maybe.

Well if you were a MS fan, then this whole gen would have been a suspense thriller....... :messenger_grinning:...Don't worry though, Sony still releases numbers.....I think you should give them a bit of time.... around or after May's NPD results.....Maybe E3 or near it, will be a good time...

I wonder what the other six are ahead of it. God of War, Spider-Man, Uncharted 4, and Horizon Zero Dawn are probably 4 of the 6.

Actual “word of mouth” on days gone is quite good from what I gather. It’s nice to see it doing well with its actual consumer reception.

In a post god of war era however I also believe Sony has earned a shit ton of consumer goodwill to where their first party output become instabuys no matter what.

As long as these exclusives continue to deliver a higher than average pedigree this may be a trend.

It matters (and is interesting news) in this case, because a game that both games "journalists" and rabid fanboys of another platform (with a greater intersection between the two groups than we would like to admit) aggressively shat on turned out to be popular.

The success of MK11 was a given, we all knew it would have great sales.

Thank you. I was about to respond that the only downside of GAF is the absence of the old sales crew, with guys who could put their finger on these sorts of numbers quickly. You proved otherwise.

Would those be WW or NPD numbers?

It is. Its such a massive game, I still have no idea how a 50-100 person studio did this. I mentioned in the OT that Take Two has to be scratching their heads like, how did you do this? Whether people like it or not, I would say everything about this game is the opposite of "generic", it was high risk for sure. This game would have never been made at a big or even a medium studio. Bend is crazy for thinking this would work or they could actually finish it. I will note as well, Days Gone was full price on Amazon US until today, MK11 went down to the lower $50s 3 weeks ago for the PS4 version.

Now, they need to get their technology (and systems) up to par in some areas for Days Gone 2, this is already going to be a 10m+ unit game, but they really could make it a 15-20m unit game or the sequel.
