That stability update.

And yet people still asked Sony why they have so many of them.

DS had:

DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL

They are all apart of the "DS" line of hardware.

3DS has:

3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, N3DS XL

They are all apart of the "3DS" line of hardware.

Get over it.

Is this the first "ds" with a hardware upgrade? I dont remember in the past.

Can you tell us how Bloodborne numbers are looking now? I recall you saying they were quite low. From what I've seen of the game, that's one I will be upset about when the poor numbers release but hey From keep on trucking so that's something I guess!

All I'll say is it was tracking below The Order when I made that comment.

That being said, I think word of mouth will be very important for this game, similarly to how it was for The Order. If Bloodborne reviews strongly / gets solid word of mouth that can carry it a long way. Especially for the types of people that buy PS4 specifically for exclusive games. After The Order people are wanting something to fill that void.

I'm not gonna give any kind of prediction on it yet. I want to see how everything pans out.

Baffled at the Evolve sales, I haven't seen anyone talking about that game, other than for its DLC shenanigans.

It's actually a good game. Anecdotal but one of my friends bought it, then another, then I bought it, then another so we all could play together.

B-b-b-ut different SKUs.
People will find anything.

Happy for evolve.

Word of mouth for The Order spread too fast..
Hopefully the sequel avoids the same mistakes.

Well, Evolve tanked as hard as expected. Failing to beat 500k across 3 platforms proving once again that critics are sadly out of touch with the audience's taste and are stuck in a 2006 mindset where FPS is king.

Like Titanfall, another title that was hyped hard for months leading up to release, Evolve's poor showing shows that the market in 2015 is a significantly different place this gen.

Except Titanfall didn't have a poor showing.

Would've loved for The Order to do much better than what it did. It is only a week, but that is fairly disappointing regardless.

Ah well.

They just re-dropped their price to 349$ in January and they're now including Halo:MCC....if you expect them to drop price every month that they lose then they will give it away for free before the next E3 :p

But seriously they'll drop the price again to 299$ (and worldwide this time) when it makes sense, I'd say in September when their season begins and they have good software to sell with Halo5, Forza 6 and Tomb Raider.

Ms will not drop the price until after the Halo sales bump has subsided. You might see another crazy bundle this Christmas, but every system they ship this holiday will sell at $349 in the states.

Eh? It got a metacritic score of 77. That's decent, but hardly suggests that reviewers thought it was gonna set the world on fire.

No, is up.

it was 80k or 84k last february.

kirby boosted sales, obviously.

take that donkey kong, you wife-beating drunk.

it's up ~15% YoY for February

I expect it to be up YoY until May, when 2014 will have Mario Kart (actually given May 2014's 60k, it might even hold for one more month)

after that, it's all downhill, unless Splatoon actually becomes the next big thing somehow

Cool. I wonder if with the right handling of Amiibo, a greater quantity of new titles and a Fall price drop if Wii U may be able to edge up this year from last.

Charting doesn't mean much.

I don't remember DA:I sales but the Order at least outsold Sunset Overdrive 2x, pretty close to 3x over.

I think The Order sold much better comparatively outside NPD land than it did in it.

A lot of people seem to be forgetting this is NPD. Not sure why it didn't do better in US though.

This should be really obvious, but is Battlefront going to have any Episode 7 vehicles and characters? Because that would be kind of a big deal this holiday.

Game will come out before the film, so chances are small. I'm sure EA will hop on DLC train pretty hard to offer something to the fans of Ep7.

The Order would've received a lot of late cancellations and people planning to buy on day 1 may just have not bothered. Bloodborne won't have that issue.

For a studio that hasn't released anything else for over 3 years, I wouldn't be surprised if those mediocre sales (for the amount of money spent on the game) and weak reviews for The Order meant that Ready at Dawn is in serious trouble at the moment. Going to be very hard to get a publisher to greenlight anything from them now. I'd expect at the very least layoffs with a chance of total studio closure.

If that happens, it will be sad because they made some great PSP games but, really, they brought it unto themselves. Andrea Pessino and Ru Weerasuriya really messed up the direction of the game. I've said it multiple times before - developers, take feedback from the community.

Surprised that Majora's Mask & Monster Hunter did so well. Even more surprised that a Dragon Ball game charted - didn't realize that the IP was still relevant after all these years.

Whoa!

I think that poster has a warped sense of how TitanFall and Left 4 Dead 1 sold out the gate.

Dlc is inevitable, but knowing EA and Disney, a preorder bonus with an "exclusive first look" at a new vehicle would definitely move units.

wtf are people buying a PS4 for?

The software sales don't look so good.
COD, FIFA, MADDEN...ETC..
Most people only care about those.

If you mean compared to PS3 then the answer is:
-Way better graphics
-Way faster OS/UI
-Stream games directly from the console
-Way better controller with the Dualshock 4
-Upcoming VR

There's dozens of others I could list it I think you get the point. Because PS4 is better.

Entirely possible. And I actually think it may outperform The Orders opening month. Even for being a relatively niche title. Order's legs are non existent outside of pretty much the first 5 or so days.

If Bloodborne musters strong reviews and word of mouth it could easily thrive. There's plenty of room for in in the current market. Especially with the lack of RPG's lately outside of Dragon Age back in November and nothing else similar in the category until The Witcher 3 in May.

Looking at the top 10, in February they were buying Evolve, Dying Light, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Grand Theft Auto V, NBA 2K15, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse, Minecraft and The Order: 1886.

You know, current gen games.

Typically May and June are some of the slowest months of the sales year. A price drop would probably help, but I'd still expect a large Y/Y drop from the 200K or so sold in those months last year.

Eh? It got a metacritic score of 77. That's decent, but hardly suggests that reviewers thought it was gonna set the world on fire.

It was hyped for months beforehand all across the gaming media just like Titanfall was, presumably based on the assumption that multiplayer-online fps is still the hot ticket it used to be.

Except Titanfall didn't have a poor showing.

Compared to the expectations that it was going to provide MS with an instant "win" this generation, it most certainly failed to meet the performance hype it was showered with.
